just like the title says :) What is your favourite smell?

my list (copied from a conversation with a friend *chuckles*) :

I like those soft, gentle smells. . . the kind of things you might smell just out in nature. Foresty smells. . . very soft flower scents, but not tropical flowers or fruity ones. . . things soft and delicate, or strong and . . . but still delicate. . .jasmine, rose, wysteria (one of my favourites), carnations. . . cedar, wet-forest, redwoods. . . eucalyptus, old-book-smell. . . lavender, heather. . . the way your lover smells, when you're laying next to him (her). . .*blushes* well I think anyone likes their lovers. . . :bigredgri

Hmmmmmmmm...lemon. Laundry dried on a line in the summer sunshine. The Earth after rain, Woodstoves burning in winter, Autumn leaves crushed beneath your feet, Horses, Leather, Sandlewood, Vanilla, Cinnamon and Apples, COFFEE BREWING!
The scent of a man after he takes his bath/shower. Every boyfriend I've ever had, I've kind of catalogued their scent. Some are spicy, some are earthy, some are fresh, light and clean. I love those scents :) The Ocean. Cloves, Cedar, A roaring fire, BBQ chicken roasting on the Grill, Christmas Tree's. Baby Powder. Oddly enough I recently bought a "Wild Orchid" set of fragranced candles, for some reason, when lit, they remind me of the perfume my Grandmother used to wear, mingled with the scent of her own body, when she was cooking. I love that scent for all of the memories that it brings back. Rose, Peach, Coconut. Some Sun Lotions (usually with a coconut scent, like Hawiaan Tropics). And a scent that Crabtree and Evelyn Produces "Nantucket Briar".

I'm with Danus....the smell of GOOD coffee brewing. :D I'm a coffee snob now, and the smell of bad coffee brewing is enough to make me ill.

*sighs and thinks* What else?

Fresh bread baking
Tomato juice
Vanillia and Lavender
My cats (except for the littlest one who always smells like crap :p)
Freshly cut grass
That ozone smell after a rain in Colorado
Pizza and good beer

*smiles* And of course the way Phoenix smells...:D

OOOOOOOOOO wanderer...how could I forget to mention the smell of my cats!!!!! I love that smell too. I love how my cat Winter smells when he comes in from outside. He smells of sunshine, and grass. Terra, for some reason, always has a "Baby" smell to him, accentuated more when the sun is hot on a given day. My little one, little, smells like clean, damp hair out of a shower, like shampoo (though I rarely have to give her a bath, unless she decides to play in wet paint :( ) I think it's because she lays in the cool bathtub a lot in the summer time.

Oh..and...the smell of garlic and onions cooking in almost anything :)

Hmmmm.

They way my boyfriend smells when he's been exercising and just stopped - so it's kind of very fresh, clean sweat combined with boy *grin* - makes me want to *this part of the post has been censored to protect the sensitive eyes of other MW users*

Vanilla, especially freshly cut vanilla beans, honeysuckle, fresh tomatoes, gin and tonic/ juniper, baking of almost any kind, laundry newly washed, then dried outside by warm sunny breezes, good red wine, barbequing over slowly smoking hickory, star gazer lillies, camp fires at twilight, the beach after a rain or the garden after a rain, new snow, thunderstorms, champagne, rosemary, frying bacon and brewing coffee first thing in the morning, Earl Grey tea.

Old Witch

Sandalwood, frankinsense, myrrh, mints, rosemary, chamomile.

For non-essential oil type scents, "brandied apple" from the body shop is REALLY good. The smell after a fresh rain, the ocean, and popcorn.

Oooh! This is a delicious subject. I like I lot of things others have said. My favorites are honeysuckle--it's absolutely divine--old-fashioned roses, the air in winter when it's really cold, the trees at Hawk's Nest State Park--I don't know what kind they are, but I always notice how fabulous they smell when we visit there--newborn babies, freshly baked bread, chocolate, cinnamon, cloves, strawberries, anything citrusy and of course, my hubby.

I like shampoo. Well, the kind I used today - toasted almond and wild cherry, I think. That and a green tea body mist. They smell good together! I love vanilla, and other... clean smells. Yeah, I love the scent of the spring air after the rain. My sheets smell pretty when they're still warm out of the dryer, and the smell of this salad dressing when it's all bubbling on the stove. That and sunscreen.

But, not those girls that splash on way too much perfume, or mullets who SERIOUSLY need to discover deoderant

I mean the girls with that beautiful natural smell that they get from eating lots of natural foods and hanging out in hippy pads a lot.

Well, my very favorite smell in the whole world I havnen't smelled in a while - On fall and winter nights, the smell of the cold night air clinging to my first cat's fur was bar none the best smell in the world. He died about six years ago :( , at the grand old age of eighteen and a half. I still miss him, and that smell...

Where I'm living now, our cats are indoor-only, because we live on too busy a street. Sigh...

My other favorite smells -
A man wearing Drakkar Noir (I've been known to single them out in crowds ;) )
Perfumes with just a hint of patchouli
My grandma's recipie for no-bake candy (it fills the house with this amazing rich chocolatey smell while cooking)
Sweet pea flowers picked from my own garden
Plumeria
The smell of occult shops or hippy stores
My husband when he splashes on a little witch hazel as an aftershave (and on other occasions, of course)
The smell of seasons changing - in southern California the seasonal changes aren't as dramatic as in other parts of the world, but they do happen, it's just more subtle. Both fall and spring arriving carry a scent on the air here and I like them both.

Glad to see someone else said horses. I was worried I was the only one... Leather. Definately leather. Gun oil (especially Hoppe's #9), wood smoke, gun smoke, sweet olive, french fries, any meat on a grill... pipe tobacco. There used to be a store around here that sold only pipe smoking things. As a kid I'd go in there just to smell the place. A waiter at a resteraunt I used to work at smoked these really cigarrettes. They were black and, I think, Turkish, but they smelled very good, totally unlike American smokes. Sugar cane is a staple crop around here, and it is grinding season (that is to say, harvesting time). After it has been cut and is still laying in the field, the leaves must be burned off before it is hauled to the mill. I just loooooove the smell of burning sugar cane. It is the very aroma of autumn.
