View Full Version : Energy, shielding, and glamour (oh my!)

These are all things I have questions about, so, in no particular order:

1) Shielding. I've read enough posts to get the basic idea of shielding, and I even have a technique in mind though I haven't tried it yet. My question here is whether visualization is enough. I mean, if I do that, but don't feel anything, does the shield still work? Or will I have a false sense of security because I think I'm shielded when I'm really not?

2) Energy. I've never done energy work before. I think it would make sense to start with visualization because once I realized what that is, I realized I actually do it a lot without realizing it; I guess I'm pretty good at it.8O My question on this ties in with the first one. If I can "see" the energy, but I don't physically feel anything, am I actually doing anything with my energy? Or did I just waste a lot of time on a glorified daydream?

3) Glamour. First, let me explain that I don't mean changing eyecolors or anything like that. I know that's B.S. Here's what I do mean: somewhere on this site, in a thread I haven't been able to find, the subject came up. These people were talking about things both plausible and practical. Like the "red sea" which would part a crowd and let them pass. Someone mentioned a variation, which just gave her plenty of space on the subway. Or the "beacon", which let people find them in a crowd. I think somebody said something about a "don't notice me" type glamour as well. That's the kind of stuff I'm interested in. But I don't remember them saying how they did this, and that's what I'd like to know. I mean, is it like an extended shield? Or something I haven't heard of yet? Any info would be appreciated. (And if you happen to be one of the people that posted in the thread I mentioned, by all means, come forward and take your due).

So I guess that's it; and I'm sorry all my posts seem to reach epic length; I guess I just talk more than I thought I did:lol:.

First two you're basically asking, "did it work?" Can't answer that for you, sorry.

Third question, glamour, that's basically about aura/energy control. I've done all three of the examples you gave, though explaining exactly how is more complicated.

Going unnoticed, I suppose that's akin to making ones self invisible. Basically what you're doing is wrapping your aura/energy more tightly around yourself, so that it takes up less space. I also "shroud" myself in a cloud of fog or smoke (as I visualise it) to make myself harder to see.

Seperating a crowd is like extending a shield, but shaping it so that it goes a long way in front and behind you, but only a short way to either side. The taper on the shield steers people to either side of you as they walk through. I suppose the shield looks somewhat diamond shaped, though each side of the diamond is curved (concave, not convex).

The beacon is simple enough, just pull excessive amounts of energy into yourself and extend you aura outwards with it. Make yourself a roaring bonfire in comparison to all the candles, so to speak.

As for shielding, I'm a natural at it myself so its never been difficult for me to do. Actually pretty well everyone I know (even some who don't do energy work) notice how strong my shield/barrier is. So what works for me may not work for you. When I shield I notice my aura hardening around my entire body, but as it hardens it also gets thicker. Usually visualization just works for me, but it may be helpful if you ground and center before shielding. I've heard some people have permanent shields, but I've never looked further into that.

2) Energy. I've never done energy work before. I think it would make sense to start with visualization because once I realized what that is, I realized I actually do it a lot without realizing it; I guess I'm pretty good at it.8O My question on this ties in with the first one. Thats harder to answer. Sometimes I see energy and don't feel it, but I always intuitively know what I'm doing. I think thats more of a "did it work" question like Kailen stated. Many people feel energy in many different ways though so what works for one person won't necessarily work for another.

3) Glamour. First, let me explain that I don't mean changing eyecolors or anything like that. I know that's B.S. I've heard as this as well, although the "beacon" I've only heard in vampire terms. But Kailen answered this question really well and I don't think I can say anything better than what he did. I've tried being invisible (so to speak) before, mainly in Spanish class (high school) and it worked part of the time for me. I probably need a lot more practice at that though which is why it didn't always work.

Visualization is difficult for me most of the time. So I learned to "feel" the energy and then was able to shape it into a shield with a certain intent as to what it would protect me from. So I can't really say whether simply visualizing a shield would be effective. Maybe if you had someone to work with they could test your shield to see if they can see it or feel it, or if they send some little psychic darts your way whether you can still feel them.

I've seen folks advocate "fake it until you can make it" which may be another way of saying "practice, practice, practice." :hehehehe:

Yes, you can use energy to make yourself go unnoticed or to draw attention to yourself. But wow, how to explain how to do it? Maybe someone else can find the words?

Thanks for the repiles. I don't have anyone to work with, so I guess I'll just have to practice and see what happens. Of course, it'll probably help if I leave the house more often so something can happen:weirdsmil.

Let's say you felt the energy: how would you determine it was not a fantasy or that the shield wasn't going to buckle at the first person to send anything your way? Test it. Find someone whom you trust and can do energy work, and have them independently test your shields. That's the only way to know for sure.

Again, independently testing the energy is the only way to know for sure. Come up with methods of determining whether or not it is fantasy, and then try them out.

I've had mixed results with invisibility magic. In general, if I don't want to be noticed though, think of it as camouflage, draw in your energy, and try to blend it with what's around you. It's probably going to take a while though. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't work at first.

Very good advice, and good techniques, I'm like you, visualization doesn't really work for me, I, more, try to feel the energy, I can visualize, I just can't get past the fact, that visualizing is real magic, 'cause, I think it's all in my head, maybe it works for some people, but, I need to feel the energy, to know it's real.

Again, hope that made some sense :).

Well, turns out I'm not so good at visualization after all. At least, not deliberately & for a specific purpose. If I'm supposed to be doing something else though...:hahugh: Last night I tried for the first time. I tried to ground myself, then draw up energy from the earth, and then shield myself. I don't think I accomplished much, aside from siting cross-legged on the floor long enough for them to go numb:rolleyes:. Today I tried again. After I got out of the shower I felt a little sick to my stomach, so I tried just grounding myself; I took deep breaths and imagined the nausea as a sickly, muddy green color. Then I pictured it leaving my body by slowly draining from the top of my head down to my feet, and into the floor. I felt better afterwards, but I'm not sure if it's because I grounded successfully, or because of the deep breathing I was doing.

What I'd like to know now is whether there's a limit to how many times a day I can ground safely. I mean, the only way to improve is to practice, but I don't want to over-do it an harm myself either. Any thoughts?

That depends. If you're drawing in fresh clean energy to replace the sickly muddy energy you're sending into the earth, you should be good. Also, it's a good idea to draw in some white or gold divine/universal energy through your crown chakra every now and then to keep your energies balanced so your energy doesn't get too earth heavy.

Might want to try lying down instead of sitting cross legged, position doesn't matter as long as you're comfortable. The more comfortable you are the better you are able to focus on what you're doing.

Try this for a meditation/cleansing/grounding/shielding.

Honey, this isn't something that happens over night. We call it "working" for a reason. Go a little easier on yourself.
