I apologize in advance if I don't make any sense.
I'm trying to do a chart for a friend. It's just for fun and practice. I figure the more I do it the better I'll get. But honestly I have no idea what I'm doing. The CoT threads have been a huge help. I'm probably really over simplifying his chart but, you get what you pay for. :giggle:
So the reason I posted is because I've run into a problem I've never encountered before.
His Mercury is on the cusp of Sagittarius and Capricorn. I'm not sure what this means. Technically Mercury is Capricon. Would I give him the Capricorn meaning or would I try combine the two? Or does it mean something else entirely?
TIA!

I would give him the meaning of it based on which house it is in and under which sign. Being on the cusp means it may have some of the characteristics of the neighboring sign.. what you could do is mention to them that their mercury is on the cusp of the next sign so it may have some of those characteristics...
what is important is that the planet is placed in it's proper sign based on where it was at time of birth.. this would insure it was in the correct house.
how many days away from the next sign are we talking here?
you could mention to him that his mercury might also influence the next house and possibly have some saggitarian influence.

Thanks for replying! That helped! I wasn't sure if I was supposed to do something different when this happened or not.
I'm not sure how many days. I'm at a bare minimum of being able to read this thing. lol I uploaded the chart though, if you're curious.

The mercury cap/aquarius would stil be similar because originally before the discovery of uranus, saturn was also the ruler of aquarius so it will still express similarly. However, per transits in aquarius, you might find him to express a bit more on the aquarian side of things, ie a little more offbeat in thinking, quick thinker and chatty, as well as looking to the future, speaks fast, or even may get odd insights 'out of the ether.'

Mercury is in the Leo decanate of Sag too. Check for intellectual arrogance or confusion why people don't "get" him.

Personally speaking, I've always approached cuspal planets in a black and white perspective; which house / sign does it occupy? - If capricorn - then that is how it is, regardless of its neighbouring proximity to another sign / house. Another critical (IMHO) point is the age of the person and the motion of the progressed Mercury (in this case) - forwards or backwards... This will influence the personality, sometimes more so than the natal position.
There is also another thing to take into account - is the planet strongly aspected or not? If it has strong squares or conjunctions to the angles or other planets - this is a big difference in comparison to only having perhaps a weak sextile to the Moon maybe...
