i have tried it. it's very tiring and i had a long sleep after wards. you dont have to do it with a crystal, i have dont it with my (glass) paperweight but you can do it with a pensil, a wallhanging anything to focus on. lots of people call it Scrying (unless i'm thinking of the wrong thing, if i am please tell me)
I know quite a lot about Scrying and i can find out stuff and it is wonderful to do.

There is a forum for just saying anything...it is called Just Talk. You can go there just to speak your mind about anything. And yes this would have been more appropriate in the suggestions forum. (See you are getting the hang of this already!) :)

Blessings.

we don't need another forum because there already is one. Here is some info on scrying:

To do scrying you need some sort of reflected material like water, a crystal or a small mirrir. Some people like to have candles in the room which you are in but these candles are supposed to be behind you, so i dont really use them because you cxant see them so they are a fira hazard.
Put the item you are going to scry with (crystal etc.)on your altar or on the floor but quite fara away from you at about a 45 degree angle and sit in a sensible possition.
You can cast a circle now if you like or recite a chant but it is not necessary.
Gaze at the object and breath deeply (you can blink, just act normally but dont move your eyes away form the object). Imagine you are looking through red tinted glass, so everything looks red, then go to orange and then yellow, then green, then blue, then dark purple, then violet.
When you feel you are relaxed, keep looking at the object, you first session should last between 10 and 30 minutes, but work up to hour long sessions.
Don't worry if you fall asleep, that is VERY natural. i did the first 3 times i did scrying (it just shows that you were really relaxed). if you daydream that is fine too.
Relax your eyes so they are not actually gazing at the object any more and they are just looking in that general direction.
you can then meditate for a while or just slowly come back to consiousness (i'm sorry, you know i can't spell!!)

After you have finished scrying jot down notes onm what you thought about and what you saw.

after you have done scrying many times, you might want to try out, you might want to try Astral Projection which i said how to do in the 'New Pagans' forum.
Happy Scrying!!!
Rosabelle

My Mother (Blessings) is a Christian. And her method of Divination was good ol "Mom knows everything I do!!!"

It always made me mad at the time, but now it fascinates me. The womans intuition. Now that is a topic all in its own.

I have two spenrical crystals: one large which sits on my altar and the other small which sits at my desk. From time to time I have looked into their depths, but not come aways with very much as in the way of divination.
I know some people have great results with crystal gazing, but I guess I'm not one of them.

I made many attempts a gazing using a Quartz crystal ball around 5inchs in diameter. Although I had sucess with this I found another method that worked better for me..
I took an old wooden bowl I had lying around the house and using a blow torch scorched the wood inside the bowl untill it was completly black. After leaving this for a few days I washed the burnt flakes away.
When the nights are clear and the moon full I sit under its light and fill the bowl with water making sure I catch the moons reflection upon the water... Then Away I go...

Psychic Herb Jar:
Before you do any scrying of any kind,
inhale the scent deeply and shake the jar gently.

Fill one jar with the following:
Cinnamon (for dream magick)
Nutmeg (for good luck)
Allspice (healing)
Ginger (lunar magick)
Basil (protection)
Fennel Seeds (spiritual healing)

My method of useing a crystal may be different than others, but it works for me.

I started scrying with clouds when I was a child. Now I use a crystal ball, real quartz crystal, not clear glass, about 3 inches in diameter. For me the tiny inclusions and fractures in the crystal help me to see images, I never see anything on clear surfaces. It is very similar to looking at clouds, or tea leaves, and imagining what they remind you of. After awhile I would just gaze at the crystal, turning it this way and that if I didn't see anything, focusing into the middle of the crystal. The images appear in 3D, very real, and I never see the same thing twice.

Now interpreting them is the hard part, I saw a peacock just before I met my husband and could not figure out what that met. Months later I realized the peacock was sacred to Hera, who rules marriages. Duh, that went right by me at the time.

I also have an amethyst crystal ball, but it is too dark to work for me very well, I don't see things as clearly as I do in my little clear quartz ball.

I use the crystal ball regularily, and presently have two, a large clear ball, and a smaller blue one that I call the Dragon's Eye. There is something about using this particular method of divination that appeals to my occult side, Hee, Hee. I am constantly amazed at the revelations it provides, and hope to read for others professionally when I'm certain I'm at a level where I can do this realiably. The one problem I've encountered and ahd to deal with is that the spirits are sometimes fickle, and also have a strange sense of humour! Sometimes I can read clearly, while at other times not at all. The fates simply reveal what they want, when they want. If I don't see anything, there's nothing I can do about it. Thus the problem in reading for others, I would never pretend to see things I don't just to impress or satisfy a client. If I could live with that, I'd be right up there with the 900 psychic crowd. It would be nice to earn a living at it, but the real reason is to help others. This is one reason why when I see something harmfull or negative, I choose not to reveal this to the client. After all there is a good chance it will never occur beyond that moment, and there's enough negativity in people's lives so that I needn't add to it. I always try to focus on the positive, and end a session on an up note.
Sorry if this is too much information, but us ol Dragons do tend to ramble, hee, Hee.

Actually there are some dedicated readers on the 900 psychic numbers. Not all of course, but I know of some that are really trying to help people as well as make a living. They really don't make very much, the owners of the networks are who make the big bucks. But working from home reduces expenses so they can live modestly. It is a shame the network can't monitor better and keep the frauds out of the business, it gives the honest readers a bad name.

Try to find a Rock and Mineral or Gem Show put on by amateur jewelry makers and collectors, they usually are less expensive because they are being sold as an ornament, not as something metaphysical. I picked my first crystal ball up at a show like that for $30.

I don't have a crystal ball either but you could try using a glass fishing float..I use that and also the sides of my bath,as it's a dark colour and when the room is candle lit, works very well.

Wow, that's kind of cool. I have plans on doing some divination this summer of the water in a bowl kind. Actually, I have this huge rose colored crystal platter that was an engagement gift and does nothing but take up space in a cabinet some where. I want to get some mats that I can lay in the yard first though.

I've heard of scrying that way, it sounds really cool! Let us know how it goes. I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't done much crystal gazing, it doesn't seem to be one of my tools. I bought a beautiful crystal ball at a great sale some months ago and have tried setting it on my altar and doing some gazing. I didn't really get much out of it. I think I just haven't invested enough time and patience to really get into it.

What about storing your crystal? I did get this feeling that I should keep it covered when not in use, just an intuitive thing......

Maybe I should edit the title...it might be confusing people.

They might not know what a CRYTSAL is... :p
