Tarot time of day?

I thought it would be fun to discuss if everyone here has a set time or even day, to read there cards or they just read them when the mood takes?
I go with the flow and read when the mood or call is needed, but while I was learning I did find it a great routine to draw a card every night, so I can understand routine with the tarot too.

My practice is like yours, Silver Venus ~ daily card draws at night, to reflect upon the day and individual readings whenever I feel like doing them.

I figure that if you need an answer 'now' that 'now' is when you should do the reading....


There is an interesting thought in magickal practice that states that you should 'do' magick best at the hour of your birth. For me, this would be 2:55 a.m. which, interestingly, is the time I usually am getting into bed!

I do most of my readings at night mainly because it's the quietest time for me. But I do read sometimes during my lunch break at work or whenever I feel the need & have an opportunity to do so.

I was just wondering how many of you carry your cards with them all day?

I have a deck of cards in my car, but would never bring them into work since everything has to be in clear plastic and can be inspected by security at will.

Whenever I get the urge to read, I do it.

I don't carry mine with me. I would never have an opportunity to read them, I perfer privacy for that.

I don't carry my cards with me to work, but I do take them with me when I go away on business. Can't be without 'em overnight!!

Oh, and I don't carry my cards around either, since I never have the privacy outside of my home to read them. But if I was going away from home for a trip or any period of time I would probably take them, just so I could have them if I wanted them! :)

I said anytime, but only when I'm alone. If there are people around all day, then I will read at night, but if I feel that I need to read in the day, I could do that too. :)

Well that's really odd because I was born at 1:30 am and that is about when I'm usually doing readings. I find that late at night, there is so much less distraction. I do just about all my magical workings, etc. after midnight.

I was born mid-day, 12.34pm and Im normally working at that time.. I always find I have allot of energy around this time too.. maybe that ties in with birth time?

I used to carry mine around with me in my bag but one day I stopped, dont know why, ust did and havent since. When I go away I always take them along for the ride, but really only get them out when Im either on my own or reading for someone else.

Just wondering now ~ If you all had to pick a percific hour that you relate to tarot reading what would that be? 11am, 2pm, 6pm, 12pm ...? I'd say 1pm which ties in with the birth theory!

By the way I find whenever I feel the urge coming on I get out the cards....Being a mother it is usually when junior is sleeping!!!

ummm, i like to do my workings late at night...i was born in the wee hours of the morning...so i don't know if it has anything to do with birthtimes or not...i just work better when there isn't anyone else around, and that is kinda hard to do considering that i live in a house with nine other people, and with two more on the way! I hope everything goes according to plan with your baby! :) :) :) :) :) :)

I've never done a reading before but am taking a course and am ready to do my first one.
My readings will mostly take place late at night because that is when I'm most likely to be undisturbed.
Or I may go to my Altar in the Woods in the late evening.
My daily one card draw takes place in the morning.

I don't carry my cards with me and I don't see me ever carrying the with me.
Unless I'm going on a trip. And that's not often.

I do a daily one card reading, usually every morning, before the kids are awake and amok. I keep a journal as well as a record chart to see what cards continually pop up. Swords are showing themselves lately. :blushake::)

Other readings are done either when they are quiet or asleep or both at school. And when I have nothing else pressing I have to do. In other words~ rarely! :T

I have got to get myself into reading on a more regular schedule. It is such a rush when I hit a reading well (ask Nina :lol:). maybe life will calm down as the weather gets cooler and the kids get more settled at school. One can hope!
