As some of you may know a few of us are taking the B & N course on tarot.

The lesson I'm currently on is about asking questions of the Tarot.

What process do ya'll use to ask questions?

Never ask a yes/no question - I believe you are wasting the tarot's knowledge and time.

Never ask a frivilous question - 'Should I dye my hair purple or shave it off?'

Never ask an open-ended question - 'Is there hope for me?'

If your question falls along these lines you should rephrase it if possible. Tarot deals best with questions dealing with Situations, Challenges, Improvements, or Outcomes.

For example: Don't ask 'Will I get a raise?' because even if the answer is yes, it may not be this job since there are canning you next week. Better to ask "Have I the necessary abilities and job skills that will bring me to my next job position?'. That way the reading can deal with your strengths and weaknesses, rather than merely answer yes or no.

I agree with Tarotbear, but I have some more:

Don't ask questions beginning with "should" or "what should I do", accept responsibility.

Don't ask questions asking only about the time.

Keep your options open, don't ask "How can I make my mother in-law move out?" ask instead "what can I do to get along better with my mother in -law?"

Stay neutral, instead of asking : Why am I the only one doing chores? , ask:
How can I foster a spirit of cooperation concerning the chores?

Be positive while writing the question, don't ask: How come I can never get my research published? , but:
How can I locate the ideal forum in which to publish my research?

It is best to begin questions with phrases like:
Can you give me insight into ...
What do I need to understand about ...
What is the meaning of ...
What is the lesson or purpose of ...
What are the circumstances underlying ...
How can I improve my chances of ...
How might I ...

I took the ideas from an online course Tarot for Beginners by Joan Bunning.

Blessed Be

You guys have made good points. So what kind of questions do you ask? I read a lot of don't do this, don't ask that. So what should a querrant ask? Usually, I just ask for the cards to comment on a certain situation such as career, relationship, ...etc.

That's pretty much what I do Mnem. I just think on the subject and ask them for guidance.

Tarot deals best with How, What, Where, What/ What If questions...

How should I proceed with.....................?
How will I do at........................................?

What should I do about..........................?
What are the prospects for.....................?

Where is my relationship with ..............going?
Where is my job with ......................headed?

Tarot also works well with should I, will I , can I and am I questions...

Should I apply for this job?
Can I afford to buy this house?
Am I on the right path?

You can also ask who, when, and why questions...

Who can be of help to me?
When will I find out about my raise?
Why am I dreaming of water?
