Merry Meet All!
Hopefully this makes sense, and can be found!
I'm trying to find the date of the Winter Solstice in 1978!
Any suggestions for a place to even start looking would be greatly appreciated!

Wow! I was only born a few months before then! Okay here's the simplest way. Winter Solstice occurs when the Sun moves into Capricorn. So whatever day Capricorn started in good old 78 would be your day. To be more specific, you could look at an ephemeris for then to know the exact day and time the Sun moved into Capricorn...the Sun doesn't always change over to the next sign the exact same day or time every year. But at any rate you're looking at about roughly the third week of December.
Just goes to show ya, they couldn't take all the pagan holidays off the calendars! Most calendars still list the Solstices & Equinoxes, only they call them the "First Day of Winter" and so forth.
If it's not prying too much, why do you need to find the date? ;) I'm eternally curious.

I was born on the 20th, and had a brainstorm to find out (I'm always curious too!) if I was born on the solstice!
You're a fire sign, too. Ah-ha, that's why!

I think I found a site that has printable ephemeris files dating from 1400-2199! I'm having trouble downloading Acrobat reader, though & have to get ready for work, so I guess I'll have to wait til later!
Thanks, though, Kadynas!
If I can figure the site out, I'll paste the link; especially if it's as cool as I think it's gonna be!

Easiest way to tell is to go to www.astro.com and run your birth chart. If it gives you a sun sign of 00 degrees Capricorn, then you're a Solstice baby! :)

Thanks Kadynas! That's where I was looking! I didn't realize it though til I clicked the link & went to do my chart. I had already done it like 2 months ago & forgot!
Thanks again & Bright Blessings!

Very cool! I couldn't find that in all the places I looked. Do you mind if I ask how you found it, for future ref?

Clovermoon, you can get this kind of information from an Astrologer's planetary ephemeris.
