I thought it would be good to start a discussion of our favorite strategies for clearing when we've reached our saturation point.

Right now I've got some good old fashioned tinkly-plunk new age music on, and I'm going to take a cool shower (love them negative ions!) and then lie down under blue light.

Go ahead, let it go, pamper yourself, clear out all that nasty bad ju-ju you might have picked up, and then tell us about it.

A blue light? I've never tried that. What is the benefit of blue light supposed to be?

A shower is good. Some people like to soak in a bath, but I've never been a bath person.

When things are quiet around here I sometimes sit at the computer and play some mindless games like Zuma, but generally that only happens late at night and then I struggle to get going in the morning from lack of sleep. So I generally retire to my room, turn on the fan for white noise, and watch tv to stop my mind from running in circles, or read a book that keeps my mind occupied.

If I really have a lot of crud clinging to me, the best thing I can do is go out and mow the grass or take a walk or something active because that engages my mind in a different way and leaves my subconscious free to look at the situation more clearly.

But mostly when I'm on overload, I become a hermit.

I like to drive out to a secluded, wooded area that few people know about and just start walking until I find a good, quiet spot to sit and think. It does wonders for me.

Acid is good too. :p

I dive into the shower when I want to 'reset' myself. :) I also listen to music quite a lot, because it helps balance me out.

Showers are good. Sometimes I do a meditation while actually in the shower and visualise the accumulated negetive energy being washed away. Maybe after the shower I will do a tree meditation where I visualise being connected to earth and sucking earth energy up inside me.

Blue also works for me. I see it as a protective colour and if I'm feeling particularly vulnarable I might cast a circle of blue around me.

Otherwise any distracting activity like reading, watching a film on TV, listening to music or being with positive, outgoing friends is always useful.

I play in photoshop and ChaosPro, making random abstract images and fractals...no pressure, just play.

I posted some of my fractals on this thread...

I go into hermit mode. Read, bathe, hide as much as possible, do as little as possible. If I can get a day of just hiding once a month I'm ok, but sometimes I need more. School starts soon for the kiddies. I am sooooo hermitizing as soon as I can! Its been a longgg summer.

It's been a long summer for us too. Besides having both grandkids home all day, my daughter left her outside job and was trying to work from home. I ended up spending so much time in my room with the door closed I began to feel like I was in solitary confinement. The house was in a constant state of chaos. Fortunately they all went away each weekend (dad's house and the boyfriend's house) but I had things to do on the weekend myself so didn't get to be a hermit enough to really get by. So my daughter and I had a huge meltdown-argument at one point and invited each other to move out. :hehehe:

And now, to top it all off, after only one week back in school, both girls are home again yesterday and today with a cold virus. Arrrgggghhhhh!!!

Hugggss Lunacie. I've been hiding in my bedroom alot too. Way too much chaos lately. Hopefully things will quiet down soon. School starts here wednesday. I'm doing a major sage once the kids are in school and cleaning out all the craziness that abounds in this house. I'm just glad I have one space where I can have peace now. And thank the Gods I can meditate even when the kids are pounding on the door. That helps me alot!!

How the heck can you meditate when the kids are banging on your door?

That is something I cannot do. Maybe it's the ADHD that doesn't allow me to focus on just one thing very well. Maybe it's the Sensory Integration Disorder that makes the banging seem louder than I can stand. Maybe the the Anxiety that both of those things can arouse in me. But I cannot do it.

Not that my bedroom door even has a lock... :smileroll

There are times its more difficult, but usually I let them know what I'm doing, and even tho they do still knock I just ignore it and continue. I guess its just that I've learned to ignore other things when I'm doing it out of neccesity, otherwise I'd be going crazy. Three boys I HAVE to have my time and they have learned to let me be..for the most part. :aburst:

when I had my kids {3 under 5}I found it pretty easy to block them out at times so I know what your saying daphenrose but as I have gotten older I noticed I have lost that particular gift:uhhuhuh:

For me I bathe..then shower with a rainbow visualization for all my chakras to get rinsed too..I plan on doing that today

If I dont have time for that I like to lock myself in my practicing room... ground center and meditate...no one dare disturb me there

A walk in the woods always helps too but I cant always do that I have envied those of you who have woods right in your yard..

Music is probably the better methods for soothing the riled emotions for me. Since music in itself is an emotional carrier, I can just listen to whatever music I'm in the mood for, and that will match my emotional state. Then, when the music dies down, the feelings die down.

It's also worth mentioning that I've never really meditated or grounded myself with my emotions in such a way. The music acts as a type of containment, and once the feelings are bolted up, things start to run a lot smoother in my mind.

Anything else, like sudden changes in situations or dramatic events, the logical side of me picks it all up at the source, and then it gets absorbed into the darkness, where it can be processed at a later date. All in all, a well working functional machine!

I agree with the showers, water, music and seclusion. I also wanted to mention something I recently learned (about 2 years ago): wood. I transfer energy really well into wooden objects and it does wonders! Now I don't use this method often (I should start) but it's because I don't know how to clear the energy from the wood once the object is 'full'. If anyone knows how to do this, that'd be great. Or knows how to utilize the energy that is transfered...

Okay, now I feel like I'm hijacking this thread. I'll find someplace else to post on this topic now that I've thought of it. :)

Leaving the object to sit out in direct sunlight and moonlight (both is best) for at least 24 hours (more is better) will usually cleanse any objects. Passing them though smoke from a sage bundle also works. Rinsing in running water is good, just make sure you dry it off well after. Pouring salt over it is another way of cleansing an object.

Or you could use small throw-away scraps of wood from the lumber yard and then burn them in your outdoor fire pit if you have one.

Thank you! I assumed something of the like but wasn't certain. That's a great help!

I have never tried transferring unwanted energies into an object that way. I used to take a hammer and smash small pieces of wood into splinters when I got really upset to keep from breaking something that would be expensive to replace.

Sometimes just getting away from the situation that's bothering you, going outdoors someplace (front yard, park, riverside) and sitting down with you back against a tree, and letting all the unwanted energies flow down into the earth can be very helpful. The earth and the whole of the universe is one big recycling center, always transforming crap into new healthy growth... kinda like a compost pile, eh?

But anytime you let go of wanted energies, no matter how you cleanse yourself of them, it's good to take a minute to draw in some clean fresh energy to replace them - drawing from the earth or the universe.
