I thought I was doing good with my sugar I really really did. I had been told target when not pregnant was 70-130 before eating and 160-180 after eating. I had been close but the doctor was so upset by my sugars he is sending me to a specialist 45 minutes away for all of my care. I have had a few bad sugars but not that many and I get really ill at 72 but mostly my sugar ranged about 85-145 before eating and 165-175 after eating and it was reasonably stable. I feel so frustrated. I am afraid to eat anything but have to eat for the baby and don't know what I should do. My lantus is already at 95 and now I need to increase the units on it to about 105 that means two needles of that per night not to mention the humalog I take throughout the day. I am going to do a batch of research online then pack a hospital bag just in case they want to admit me to stablize my sugar at an even lower level. I was already taking my sugar so much and doing so many injections I felt like a pincusion. He wasn't even worried that I am showing preclamsia signs at 9 weeks! He said the sugar was worse right now. :wah::wah2: Sorry I am whining guys I just really need to vent and if anyone has any ideas please post them or im me.

One thing that will help you is to learn to eat complex carbohydrates and to learn to eat things that take longer to affect your sugar. Cinnamon is sometimes used to help stablize your levels. Do a search on cinnamon and diabetes. I will look and see what else I can suggest later on.

I have been diabetic for most of my life. I have learned to control it greatly through diet. I do not drink sodas or coffee. I drink a variety of teas both hot and cold with splenda.

Eat a variety of vegetables and make vegetables half of your plate, only eat a portion of meat the size of your computer mouse , eat whole grain bread, watch the starchy veggies. Drink plenty of fluids and get lots of regular exercise. I walk everyday at least a min of 3 miles for my exercise.

There are some whole grain pastas which are nice too but watch your portions.

It is better for diabetics to actually eat 6 very small meals spread out through the day than to eat one or 2 large meals. it keeps you on an even sugar level.

My only drinks have been water with ice. I had cut starches to almost nonexistant in my diet and for snacks I have been doing things like a cuke sliced with some seasonings. I had cut my meals to tiny ones spaced through the day and it brought it down from the two hundred range to where it is now. I really thought I had done better. Apparently I didn't check the newest numbers for it and was going off of the levels I was told two years ago for my sugar when pregnant with my youngest. It's so hard not to just curl up and cry. The only day I said to heck with it and had a piece of cake was my birthday. This has just been a nightmare week since last Friday. :( Somewhere I must be screwing up maybe it is portion sizes or stress.

Both of those would make a difference!I have learned to walk the tight rope through years of practice. I plan ahead for special occasions like My yearly Toast on New Years Eve. (Only Time I ever take a drink.)

Oh Yeah there are some Teas that are good for us too. That help you control your sugar levels. Look up Teavanna on google! Do your research there are many natural things that can be done to help with control of your sugar levels.

:hugz: Im sorry hun that your having trouble with your sugars. I hope your able to control them better with diet and not have to take more shots. I wish I could take away the pain for you or be around to give you a big hug!

Im only a phone call away! :)

I've been babysitting a little girl for the past couple of weeks. It's been a bit stressful as she and hannah fight-OFTEN- or they exclude vinny and make him cry. Along with my usual housework routine, and having to stretch our food a bit more. her mom supplies most of her food but not all. She loves peanut butter sandwiches though. (atleast it's cheap) On top of that..I started a new bc pack on the 23rd (but not at start of af) and have yet to start,so am a bit stressed about that. I think it just messed my cycle up a bit. ( I hope)
Sorry, got off topic a bit..

I'm just stressed frightened and venting. This is the one place I can do that and know there will be people who understand. I have a friend taking me over to the doctor later we are going to see if we can get a copy of my records both for this pregnancy and Sean's. Since my friend is a nurse of 18 years she is going to translate them for me. Hopefully that will help.

I can understand, you have every right to be scared for you and baby.. It doesnt sound like your current doctor is very supportive..
:hugz: Wishing you lots of luck. Glad that you have a friend who can help. More :hugz:

Well my sugar is ranging 92-98 so far with the new dose of lantus and extra humolog this morning before eating. I am dizzy and sick with a massive headache and feel like I am starving but my sugar is good so I am assuming it is just my body getting used to it. Part of the reaction I am having today may just be psycosymatic since I normally don't have problems until I go down to 72. With luck we will be just fine.

Good to hear that! Please try not to stress. Relax and read a good book or something that will get your mind off everything for a bit. :hugz:
