I just couldn't stand it anymore. It was like talking to Jerry Springer guests 24/7 or whenever I was logged on. I've been reading Tarot since I was 16. I've even written my own definitions for all of the cards based on years of research. Maybe it's the way that Phone Psychics are marketed. People would call up and try to make me a collaborator in the worst kind of villainy, most of it involving cheating on their lovers. I believe that it is wrong to use the Tarot to help someone harm another, and to me, cheating and adultery falls under that heading. Occasionally I would get a fairly decent, educated person whom I helped to the best of my ability. I had many of them who were regular customers who swore on my accuracy far more than I would credit myself. Some were just lonely and needed to talk, and I listened. Most of them were, well frankly, the absolute scum of the earth. And it was turning me into something bad. "They as touch pitch shall be defiled..." Example: "I told my boyfriend I'm pregnant, but I'm really not, and now I want to see that if I tell him that I miscarried, will he break off the engagement, cuz he only got engaged to me cause I told him I was pregnant. Also, I'm seeing (ahem) this married man, (giggle) (He's in an "unhappy marriage,") and I want to know if my fiancé will find out about it and whether this man (let's call him DICK) is sleeping with anyone else beside his wife and me. Then there were the simpletons who wanted me to cast a spell to get them money, tell them their "lucky lorry numbuhs," or wanted me to grant them a wish. "Well can't you just do somethin' with them cards?" Not to mention that many of them spoke in regional dialects that are almost incomprehensible, then wonder why they can't get a job. I always encouraged them to go back for their GED for a start. I used to do part of my reading based on the person's name, giving them it's linguistic origin and meaning, which is a special area of study of mine. It was awkward when I'd get people with names like "D'bris" (pronounced Debris) I wash my hands of the whole thing. I was even in a commercial for Kenny Kingston for which I got paid ZERO. It is not difficult to figure out exactly what people want to hear from their question (Is he/she coming back?) but telling the truth instead got me a lot of complaints. Well, this is one Swami who is not going back into the psychic swamp ever again.
