As alot of you know I am going through some emotional junk right now.

Since I am not partial to any God/ddess, I feel like I really, really, need to find one, or more if I can. I think if I can connect then maybe I can get out of this mire Im in right now. I feel like I need guidance.

Since I started practicing I havent been able to connect, and have been doing the straight up Mother worship and thats all. I feel the lack. I yearn so badly for a connection that I see so many of you have. I feel like there is someone waiting for me I just have to figure out how to reach out the right way.

Tom. night I am going to light a white (thats all I have -_-) candle b/f bed and do a lil ritual to try to get a hint while I sleep or something.

Not sure what I should ask for, I dont want to demand help, but I really need to stress to the uni. that help is needed badly.

Any help you guys could give, advice, a layout of a prayer, ritual, anything....

And just as a side note:

I dont use anything but candles, I have never felt fully comfortable using tools. Dont know why but using my mind for rituals seems to work best for me.. Can this be a reason I cant seem to connect?

Thanks, you guys have been my light in the dark these past weeks. Really.

Love you all :weirdsmil

many many many many people don't use tools...

Try being outside for a while... pick a decent night and sit on your porch- or better yet- sit in the grass and look at the moon. Just sit there- don't think- don't fidget (bring bug spray), just be there. The longer I stare at the moon, I get into a silent trance- I don't like singing and drumming- its distracting for me- which lots of ppl. think is wierd... but silently watching the moon is a GREAT way for me to connect.

If I want to do a ritual-- I get things set up inside ( I can't do rituals outside- neighbors and all)-- I get everything ready. After I've been outside- I can come in, i'm totally relaxed and totally ready to do some spell/ritual work.

There's some kind of block-- the block is your emotional stress.... I have been around the block a few hundred times the last 2 years-- never ending kind of "pass go but pay $200 instead of collect" kind of thing for me.... I've really grown quite close to the moon-- and yesterday I stopped probably 400 feet from the stoplight b/c I was looking at the moon- my husband yelled at me... OOoops....
It's quite entrancing... worth a try :)

The world is exactly what you think it is. That applies to just about everything as I see it.

If you feed and fuel the thought that you can't connect to anything, you certainly won't. Think of this from the verb. Your mind is going to protect you from what you don't want. It's following precise instructions that you've given in your life ...starting with the verb, action. You think, Start setting up new commands. Remove all thoughts except connecting if that's your mission.

What are you trying to connect to? Did I miss the point there?

And tools. Err ...use if you need them. You might need them.

I strongly believe that tools are just a way for some people to focus their energy. They are not required by others in order to accomplish the same results.

As far as a God/Goddess to connect to, have you researched various pantheons? I actually searched through many, many different belief systems until I found the dieties that I resonated with the most.

Bast (http://www.egyptianmuseum.gov.eg/bastet.html) (or Bastet) is a good one for me, even though I'm not female. She's the Egyptian Cat Goddess, usually portrayed as a human woman with a cat head and sometimes with a litter of kittens at her feet. She's a fierce protector of her children but also a loving mother figure. A warrior mom, if you will.

In later years she became associated with liscivious and slutty behavior, but I believe that's just bad press from other dieties who were jealous of all the attention she was getting (the great city of Bubastis was even named for her).

My advice: Head down to your local library and start reading up on various belief systems. Sooner or later, you'll find a God or Goddess that makes you shout out "That's the one!" and then you'll just know how to make that connection.

Your mind is your most powerful tool. ;) I don't use tools either, except for divination.

What do you do that makes you feel connected to your path? Lighting candles, chanting, singing, walking in the woods.... (etc)?

For me, a lot of times all it takes is shuffling a deck of tarot... or holding my pendulum.... or just gazing at my altar and the figures represented on it. Rolling the crystal ball in my hands. Walking barefoot in the grass...

(Apparently, I'm fairly tactile-oriented. )

Do the thing that makes you feel connected to your path (not a person, not a being... just something that you associate with your path).

From there... what appeals to you? A mother? A friend? A confidant? A guide? These questions will help you know where to being looking for the god/dess that might be able to help you on your path.

Put it out there during meditation that you are seeking this to aid you on your path. It may take a few times.... be patient. You want this to be right, rather than jumping into something that may not be best for you.

Research things that you feel are signs or symbolic of something. You may already have someone trying to get your attention and not even realize it.

:hugz:

I know what its like to feel disconnected. It happens. It's good that you want to try to reconnect and get further along on your journey in this aspect. ;) First step in the right direction.

It's all well and good to have people dishing out (good!) advice here, but it wont help if it dosen't apply to you.
What path are you looking at?

If you feel ready to have a relationship with deity, but are unsure who, why not ask? I just said I felt ready and after a while, someone answered. The little ritual you suggested sounds like a really great idea.
In the meantime you can research the pantheons that interest you, and perhaps even the ones that don't. :)

So, other people are right that you don't *need* tools, but there is a reason tools have been used pretty much since we figured out how to make them. So you say you can't connect to anyone and you don't seem to find yourself able to use tools. I don't think you can't connect because you aren't using tools, but because both require the same skill of connecting to something outside of yourself. In martial arts, we are taught to treat the tools as extensions of themselves. In taiqichaun (T'ai Chi), they take it one step further: while moving your hands, you are taught to put your mind into your hands, and when using a sword, to put your mind in the tip of the sword.

So I'm going to go out on a limb and say don't listen to the other people that tell you tools aren't necessary, not because they are wrong, but because continuing to not use tools helps you stay "stuck inside yourself." Find a tool that appeals to you, or at least doesn't repel you as much as the others, and make it. Carve a wand from a branch you got yourself, forge or grind a knife, throw a chalice, whatever. Then, work with it, connect with it. Do rituals that involve waving it around in funny-looking ways. If it feels a little silly to stand in the middle of the woods and wave around a stick, well, that's because it is.

When you say that using your mind works best for you, I completely understand, but you are also looking for change, which is only going to come by moving outside of your comfort zone. Not to be rude, but if what you were doing was working 100%, you really wouldn't be posting. So it's probably time to try something new. Creating these connections you are looking for should be a little scary and new and overwhelming and wonderful.

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor and the blessings of the Old Ones.

May you find what you are searching for.\
