I was talking to someone the other day and they mentioned calling on Odin for help in conceiving... I've never heard this before! Where could this be gotten from??

Hmmmmm....to tell you the truth, i'm not very familiar with Norse Mythology. So anyone can correct me if I am wrong, But...Odins WIFE has many fertility aspects, but the God FREY is the God associated with fertility. So to tell you the truth, I have no clue where the association between Odin (who is a God of Battle, and of death) and fertility would come to be made....
In the mean time, I thought you might get some more answers to this, if it was moved to Gods and Goddesses Forum, So I'll be moving it there. I'm curious to know, as well. :)

I think of All Father Wotan as more of a Kronos, grandfather figure. There is a story about how one friday (Frey's day) night, Thor decided to take to bed a mortal woman. He courted one in a local establishment, danced, seduced her with mead and pretty words, and took her home, where they spent the night in frolic. The next morning, the weary but happy god decided to let the mortal woman know exactly how profoundly she had been blessed.
"Madame," he spake, "I am Thor."
"You're Thor?" she spake. "Im tho Thor I can't even oh sorry my parents just came home

As Danustouch mentioned, the Norse deity usually associated with fertility is Frey. (Romans usually associated Frey with their fertility god, Priapus.)
Perhaps Odin gets some fertility powers from his wife, Frigg. Frigg was a maternal goddess. Remember that Frigg was not Odin's only woman. Odin had a few affairs. When I think of Odin, physical passion comes to mind. Maybe Odin's relationships with women contribute to his role as a fertility god.
