A couple of questions to ask yourself:
Do you feel comfortable with this suit?
What are your first thoughts about it?
What do Pentacles represent to you?
What does Earth represent to you?
Is there a particular color theme associated with the cards in this suit (specific to your own deck)?
Flip through the suit of Pentacles. Set aside the card(s) that you like the most. Set aside the one(s) you like the least.
What is special about these cards, what makes you feel that way about them?
Do the other cards cause any particular emotion or sensation? Anxiety, fear, happiness, sadness, etc.? What in the card makes you feel that way?
Look @ your favorite & least favorite card, how would you interpret each one if it came up in a spread for a "positive" position, such as Hopes? How would you interpret each one if it came up in a "negative" position such as Fears?
Does looking @ your favorite card in a negative light change how you feel about it?
How about looking @ your least favorite card in a positive light?

Do you feel comfortable with this suit?
Yes I do
What are your first thoughts about it?
That this is a suit that I do not have any ill feelings about in fact to me this is a suit I like and I know what to expect and feel challenged in a good way.
What do Pentacles represent to you?
Planning, planting, work, ethics, prosperity financial l issues and growth
What does Earth represent to you?
Prosperity growth, grounded, planting
Is there a particular color theme associated with the cards in this suit (specific to your own deck)?
There is yellow, then the earthy colours of green and various shades of brown.
The 3 of pentacles - I like this one the most because it is the start of something new, I like organizing and planning projects
The 7 of pentacles - This is the result of the hard work and planning.
When I see these cards I feel happy because I know their is hope for me yet :D
5 of Pentacles I guess would be the one I like the least since it could mean hard times are about to fall whether it is personal injury or loss. So I do feel a bit concerned about seeing this in a reading especially for myself, but at the same time I look forward to the challenges it brings to.
Look @ your favorite & least favorite card, how would you interpret each one if it came up in a spread for a "positive" position, such as Hopes? How would you interpret each one if it came up in a "negative" position such as Fears?
The 3 of pentacles -
Positive: Hopes- that with planning and taking the time to research everything I can achieve my goals.
Negative: Fears - you are being to cautious, you are going to drive yourself nuts, worrying about things not going according to plan, so as a result you have to go over everything time and time again because of the lack of confidence to proceed. As a result the hard work you put into planning is being wasted as well as the time you could have put your plans into action.
5 of Pentacles
Positive: Hopes- That there is an end in sight, your taking the steps to get through the obstacles presented to you at this time.
Negative: Fears - You loss everything that you have worked hard for and those you love
Does looking @ your favorite card in a negative light change how you feel about it?
No it does not.
How about looking @ your least favorite card in a positive light?
that was a bit tricky on how to put the thoughts in type so they made sense otherwise my feelings really have not changed.

Stones
A Few Questions:
Are you comfortable with this suit?
NO, this suit is very hard for me to analyze and comprehend.
First thoughts?
I have a very loose understanding of these cards. There seems to be a recurring theme of patience and perseverence.
What do stones represent to you?
Strength, long-lasting, reliable, useful
What does earth represent to you?
Fertility, growth, slow change, endurance, the natural state.
Is there a color scheme?
About half the cards have some to a very strong prescence of white. Brown is also a popular choice.
Faves:
Stone 8 has prospects. It shows that hard work pays off, take your time to do well, that sort of thing. 6 is inviting. A circle of stones stand around a fire, representing the connectivity of people, an intimate setting that is not romantic.
Least Faves:
Stone 5 is very confusing when I look at it. It is a tall, weathered rock surrounded by lots of smaller, cracked rocks and a dead bird (I think it's a sparrow) lays next to it. Thin lines of white are streaked across the setting, but I can't tell if it is wind or light. I haven't the slightest clue what is being conveyed by this, so I don't like it.
Other Emotional Cards:
Stone 4 shows material weathiness equivalent to pirate booty. Time to share your wealth during your time of success.
At first I thought the Maiden was morbid, she holds a plate with yet another severed head, and this guy looks like he really didn't want to die. But when I looked closely at her eyes, I could see she got no pleasure out of it. She was looking up, away from the head. She is not afraid to do what must be done, and she is very strong mentaly/emotionaly for it.
Fave and Least Fave in + :
6 - reunion of friends, helping those in need, some sort of interaction with people.
5 - Loose ends, unfullfilled tasks/desires
Fave and Least Fave in - :
6 - Something good came out of a situation, there is something you overlooked, selfish behavior
5 - Failure, prolonged outcome
As always, feel the same as I did before about these cards.

I will try to finish this ASAP, but I live in Houston and we have a hurricane coming our way, I do hope to have it done before it hits though. So, if I'm offline for a while, you know where I am at.

The 3 of pentacles - Negative: Fears - you are being to cautious, you are going to drive yourself nuts, worrying about things not going according to plan, so as a result you have to go over everything time and time again because of the lack of confidence to proceed. As a result the hard work you put into planning is being wasted as well as the time you could have put your plans into action.I like the lack of confidence approach, but I also see this sometimes as having too many projects to be able to devote your time & effort to finishing just one. :) Scattering your energies so much that you never master one thing. Being a dilletante. Does that resonate with you at all?

Least Faves:
Stone 5 is very confusing when I look at it. It is a tall, weathered rock surrounded by lots of smaller, cracked rocks and a dead bird (I think it's a sparrow) lays next to it. Thin lines of white are streaked across the setting, but I can't tell if it is wind or light. I haven't the slightest clue what is being conveyed by this, so I don't like it.I actually kind of like the idea that you don't know what the white streaks are. Perhaps sometimes they seem to be shafts of light or represent wind, which might be illuminating or energizing, but other times they might seem to be fog... which would be obscuring. I think you can use those streaks to your advantage in a reading depending on what they appear to be to you @ the time. :hahugh:
I also liked your take on the Maiden being resolute & doing what needed to be done, even if it was a hard choice to make. Sometimes responsibility is heavy. Good job!

Do you feel comfortable with this suit? Yes, overall. I don't know it as well as the others, though.
What are your first thoughts about it? I love the colors and symbolism. They're so rich, I guess that's the point.
What do Pentacles represent to you? Growth, prosperity, stability, contentment.
What does Earth represent to you? Same as above.
Is there a particular color theme associated with the cards in this suit (specific to your own deck)? Rich colors, golds, yellows, reds, greens
Flip through the suit of Pentacles. Set aside the card(s) that you like the most. Set aside the one(s) you like the least. Card I like most, 10 of Pentacles. Card I like the least, 5 of Pentacles.
What is special about these cards, what makes you feel that way about them? The 10 shows what could be a happy family scene, Mom, dad, child and dog with a castle in the background, clear skies, penants flying. Contentment, fulfillment. The 5 shows 2 people outside what appears to be a church, there's a stained glass window, it's snowing, one person is sitting on the pavement, the other is standing, thre is a mouse in the corner, both people have a crutch. Gives me a feeling not only of need, but of giving up, powerlessness, maybe even apathy.
Do the other cards cause any particular emotion or sensation? Anxiety, fear, happiness, sadness, etc.? What in the card makes you feel that way? Pretty much all of the rest cause a positive emotion, joy, happiness, fulfillment, to different degrees.
Look @ your favorite & least favorite card, how would you interpret each one if it came up in a spread for a "positive" position, such as Hopes? How would you interpret each one if it came up in a "negative" position such as Fears? The 10 could be that you fear the stability and contentment the card represents, or if it's in a crossing position it could be that your desire for this kind of relationship is blocking your ability to acheive something else. The 5 can be seen as not being alone. You may feel dispondent and depressed, but there is something there with you, you can lean on each other to get yourselves out of the situation.
Does looking @ your favorite card in a negative light change how you feel about it? Not really.
How about looking @ your least favorite card in a positive light? Yes, at first I only saw the negative, and missed the presence of the other person as a positive thing. I also missed the rose buds in the stained glass window which say potential to me. So there's still hope.

How about looking @ your least favorite card in a positive light? Yes, at first I only saw the negative, and missed the presence of the other person as a positive thing. I also missed the rose buds in the stained glass window which say potential to me. So there's still hope.Awesome. This was always my least favorite card too. :) To me (in my personal spreads) it has always meant that I need to ask for help, it is available to me, but I have to ASK FOR IT. I hate that. :hehehehe: It is a reminder that as much as we WANT to be independent and be "Superwoman", it isn't always possible and it is ok to ask for help, it doesn't make you weak.
Great job!

6. The Suit of Pentacles
A couple of questions to ask yourself:
Do you feel comfortable with this suit?
Yes
What are your first thoughts about it?
It’s very colourful and restful to look at. All the characters look happy and content with the exception of the 4 of Pentacles.
What do Pentacles represent to you?
Teaching, learning, material wealth.
What does Earth represent to you?
Grounding, money, material objects.
Is there a particular colour theme associated with the cards in this suit (specific to your own deck)?
Blues, purples with the occasional gold background.
Flip through the suit of Pentacles. Set aside the card(s) that you like the most. Set aside the one(s) you like the least.
Most – 8, 9 and Page.
Least – 4.
What is special about these cards, what makes you feel that way about them?
8 Of Pentacles – There are two women playing instruments, one obviously a teacher, the other a student. There are eight Blue Pentacles displayed on the wall behind them. I guess I wouldn’t have thought twice about this card if not for the fact that I am starting University in a few weeks to do a teaching course.
9 Of Pentacles – The lady is dressed in a cape trimmed with fur and is wearing lots of jewellery. She is resting her hand on a sculpture she has done made up of stone cats and Blue Pentacles. This is her achievement, this is what she has done and has spent a lifetime working towards.
Page Of Pentacles – The lady is reclining on a chair with an open book; she is still studying and learning. The Pentacle at her feet represents a globe of her world; she has cats around her who are happy and content. I think this shows that you can still learn and study when older – even the cats in this card look interested in the book she is reading.
4 Of Pentacles – This is the only card where the pentacles are yellow. The lady is sat clutching three of the Pentacles with the fourth at her side. There are no comforts where she is sat and her dress is very plain. There is one cat sat looking at her from across the room. This appears to be a very grasping card – I have this and you can’t have any, it’s all mine.
Do the other cards cause any particular emotion or sensation? Anxiety, fear, happiness, sadness, etc.? What in the card makes you feel that way?
5 Of Pentacles – Sadness, the lady is mourning her cat whose’ soul has been reborn behind her. Hope, there is life after death, joy after sadness... you just have to look for it.
6 Of Pentacles – She is feeding unwanted cats, they are yowling to get the food, but has she left time or money for herself.
10 Of Pentacles – This makes me think of family and children. The lady is holding a kitten; the second kitten is on the floor very much wanting to be picked up and cuddled, the mother cat is all proud and happy.
Look @ your favourite & least favourite card, how would you interpret each one if it came up in a spread for a "positive" position, such as Hopes? How would you interpret each one if it came up in a "negative" position such as Fears?
Favourite – Page Of Pentacles
Negative – Don’t immerse yourself in study, you need to participate in the world outside the classroom whether formally or informally. Don’t ignore the world around you.
Positive – Yes, you can do whatever you set your heart on; go back to school or retrain in a different area. Learning and knowledge can help you move forward.
Least favourite – 4 Of Pentacles.
Positive – Keep what you have gained and don’t let others take it away from you, you have earned it but maybe it is also nice to share.
This card came up in a reading I did for myself when I was trying to decide if I should teach. I came to the conclusion (with help from a friend) that I have all this knowledge that I have worked for but also that I could share with others.
Negative – Don’t be too grasping and ignore the needs of others around you. Wealth is nice to have but nicer to share.
Does looking @ your favourite card in a negative light change how you feel about it?
No
How about looking @ your least favourite card in a positive light?
Yes.

Great job, Kalena! I'm actually glad that your least favorite is the 4 of Pentacles. I'm going to take a second to gratuitously plug my article in MW Magazine. LOL It is called "The Misunderstood Miser". I'd love to hear your opinions on it and see if it makes sense to you.
Your take on the 5 of Pents is great. I like the kitty's soul being reborn behind the woman. I also like your take on the Page, that it is NEVER too late to learn something new. So much for "old dogs & new tricks" huh? ;)

:hahugh: Well after I had found your article.... yes it did make sense. I tried to find a picture of the card (my scanner has broken so I can't scan it in) but couldn't.
I wouldn't say she was miserly ... more that she has had to work to get what she has and understandably wants to keep it.
The warning is possibly that you do have to give back what you receive, whether that be time, money or love. However you do need to live yourself...
I think the fact that the cat is sitting away from her and looks cold and she is making no apparent effort to invite it in is what I don't like. And the fact that this was the only card in which the pentacles were not red/blue. Although the 2 does have one blue and one yellow - for balance I think.
LisaT4P
September 18th, 2008, 11:20 AM
That was sort of my point with the article. I understand what you're saying about the cat. I was picturing the Rider-Waite version of that card when I wrote it. :)

September 18th, 2008, 11:34 AM
:uhhuhuh: I did say your article made sense to me.
I have only ever seen certain cards from that deck.
A friend of mine uses it but I only see her once a year, and have never really been able to study them closely.
You have made me look at my Egyptian Tarot deck though and oddly enough I wouldn't have come up with miserly for that either!

Do you feel comfortable with this suit? Yes, It is my favorite of this deck
What are your first thoughts about it? Working, resourcefulness, dedication
What do Pentacles represent to you? Resources, getting things done
What does Earth represent to you? Stability, strength, comfort, growth
Is there a particular color theme associated with the cards in this suit (specific to your own deck)? Light browns, green, and purple
Flip through the suit of Pentacles. Set aside the card(s) that you like the most. Set aside the one(s) you like the least. Favorite card: 3 of Pentacles - Least favorite: 5 of Pentacles
What is special about these cards, what makes you feel that way about them?
3 of Pentacles: I just love this card. It shows here working in the soil, harvesting what she has sown, and she is truly enjoying it. Although the faery needs the food to survive, she doesn’t see it as a job or as tedious labor. She likes what she does and is glad that she can do it.
5 of Pentacles: It shows a loss, loss of everything you have worked hard for. In the card, it shows the loss of something needed to survive –food-, but every day brings the possibility that you could lose everything you have, own, and cherish.
Do the other cards cause any particular emotion or sensation? Anxiety, fear, happiness, sadness, etc.? What in the card makes you feel that way?
Yes, another card I really like is the 10 of Pentacles. Because she gets to share her knowledge with others to help them and herself. Plus those she has helped become her friends in the true sense of the word.
Look @ your favorite & least favorite card, how would you interpret each one if it came up in a spread for a "positive" position, such as Hopes? How would you interpret each one if it came up in a "negative" position such as Fears?
3 of Pentacles – Positive- Now is the time to use your many useful skills. Enjoy it, enjoy your skills and enjoy doing things that help yourself and others. You can do anything you set your mind to, in this case you already have all the knowledge you need to be successful. –Negative- You believes the situation is at a loss and that nothing you do can make it better. You feel helpless and completely lacking anything that can help others or yourself.
5 of Pentacles –Positive- You are at a loss now, everything you have been working for is gone… but it isn’t the end of the world. There are resources around you that can help you through this, all you have to do is look. You will find what you need to go on, survive, or rebuild. – Negative- Everything you have worked has been taken away from you, either by something you could have stopped or been watching out for, or by something unseen and unexpected.
Does looking @ your favorite card in a negative light change how you feel about it?
How about looking @ your least favorite card in a positive light?
No and yes. No, because we can always grow from the challenges that we face, this is the essence of the Earth element. We become stronger, smart, and more resourceful as we grow and face new challenges. So whether the card is in a positive position or a negative one, I see it as a way to grow. When things are good and you use your skills to the best of your ability, you become confident and you begin to have better self-esteem. When things are difficult you use resources and reserves that sometimes you didn’t know you had, which helps you grow and become more aware of yourself. Yes, because as humans it seems we work so hard just to get more stuff, and that stuff can be taken away so easily. Our homes, our furniture, our food, even our loved ones can be taken away from us at anytime for a multitude of reason. So we need to appreciate things and people while we have them, because nothing last forever.

I am devistated right now.....I cannot find my mystic faerie suit of pentacles anywhere....I cannot remember where I put them. I placed them somewhere because I was going to do my assignment, and now I can't find them....I have been looking since friday, and still cannot find them.....I was so looking forward to doing my next assignment with them, since I've waited so long to collect that particular deck (I've had my eye on them since they came out).......

I cannot remember where I put them. If you've tried everything else. Try getting out your pendulum.
Draw a picture of the layout of the room and then move the pendulum over different areas and ask it to show you "yes" if they are in that area. I've often used a pendulum in this way to find lost things, it really does help! Good luck! I hope you find them soon!

I read your article Lisa, good info. Thanks for writing it. I have a hard time seeing the 4 as a miser. In one of my decks it has a man sitting on a chest that has 3 pentacles on the side and he's holding another to his chest. He has a contented look on his face. Just doesn't say miser to me, now on my Celtic Dragon deck, the person is clutching the pentacle, and has a very unhappy look. My Inner Child deck shows King Midas.

So many decks now have taken a different approach to that card. And it is a good thing. But many of the books & decks I worked with as I was learning had "miser" as a keyword. It always bothered me. :)

Yeah, my Sharman-Burke deck is the one with someone sitting on a chest. The book calls it the miser card, I just don't get that energy from it, usually, I did once.

Well, since I still cannot find the suit of pentis for my new deck, I am doing this assignment with my Llewellyn deck, the one I had been working with.
Here goes....
I feel pretty comfortable with this suit. Lots of growth, grounding, and stability. This suit is physical and hard-working, lots of "reaping what you sow", and nurturing. I really like this suit. Physical and material gain.
Penticles represent to me an earth symbol, but it also balances equally all the other four elements as well: air, fire, water and spirit. Without earth, none can be completely balanced by themselves or with each other. The penticle keeps equality and balance with all. Can you imagine how we would all be if we didn't have the planet earth beneath our feet to keep us grounded and stable? (although there are a select few....) And the healing and nurishment the earth provides us to be healthy and strong...I feel the earth is its own natural antidepressant and loves to share with all.
Orange, green, gold and red are of this suit's color theme. I really like it.
The card that I like the most is the Three of Penticles. The figure is sitting in the sun, sewing a blanket with her pitcher of choice of drick beside her, and she is surrounded by pretty red flowers. She looks so peaceful and serene. Nurturing, creating, and working. There is a spiderweb handing off the tree behind her, showing me that this is her everyday work.
The card that I like the least is Two of Penticles. Trying to find physical balance when the emotional chaotic mind is trying to take over. Struggling for balance.
Again, all the rest, save for one, show me grounding, stability, growth, and nurturing. I feel strength, peace and accomplishment.
My least fav card in a positive way? Winning my balance and stability back. Feeling that nothing can knock me down.
My fav card in a negative way? Sewing my life away by hand, blisters on every finger. Isolated and giving in.
Seeing my least fav card in a pos. light relieves alot of anxiety
Seeing my fav card in a neg. light? absolutally depressing
ONTO MY READING FOR ZEPHER!!!!!
