But, as for an answer to your question, the Catholic Church began to seek out and destroy religious dissent and unorthodox beliefs (heretics) in AD 1022, and then formed the Inquisition in the 13th century. I believe that might be the most accurate information you would be able to find, everything else contradicts each other.
