Hi. I'm fairly new to The Craft, I've only been practicing for two years.

For a while now I've been curious on how Wiccans view the supernatural, such as vampires, demons, werewolves, ect. Is it a matter of personal opinion?

Will someone who knows the correct answer PLEASE write back? I'd appreciate it.

Blessed Be.

Well, there's really no "correct answer" as it were.. it's usually just a matter of opinion. :)

I, personally, believe somewhat in these things.. but on a different level. Rather like emotional representations of said supernatural creatures. Werewolves, for example, could just be a manifestation of anger.. total and unadulterated RAGE! :evilway:

Vampires.. are different to many people. I see them as charismatic and beautiful. Rather the way that Anne Rice portrayed them. They could be psy-vamps or any number of other things.

I'm not really saying this is the definate way to believe things.. I'm not even totally sure how I believe them!

 Welcome

And I agree with Loki & WC. :) Everyone has their own beliefs when it comes to the supernatural. I, myself, believe in ghosts, vampires, faeries, and so on (I'm too lazy to type them all out :p)

Thanks for all of the replies. I'm still debating on my own opinions. I appreciate everyone taking time to listen to me :)

It's fairly easy for me to make my own decesions, but harder to figure out everything without any Pagan friends.

Thanks again.

Blessed Be,

I beleve in it all, or rather I beleve in all of it that I know about. Who knows what wonderfully mysterious things are still out there that no one knows about.

Welcome to MW!:D

Well....

I have to say that I don't view these things as "supernatural" - rather that they are natural, part of Nature, even if they are perhaps less common and more difficult for most people to accept as such.

Each Wiccan will treat the "supernatural" differently according to their own opinions and experiences. There is no official "canon" on the subject. Some will tell you they are spirits, some will tell you they are real, some will tell you they are merely archetypes for working with certain kinds of energy.

It's up to you to form your own opinion.

Welcome! And Merry Meet, Wping Wllow!

I concur with everyone else; it is an individual thing.
(But don't tell my resident ghost that... He has a way of ...ah... dealing with non-believers!)

Hello and welcome!

I'm not Wiccan, I'm a Pagan Buddhist. In saying that, I believe that there are no such things as ghosts because I believe in reincarnation. Whether or not the soul "immediately" passes into the next life is something I don't pretend to know, but I can't say that I truly believe in ghosts. I've seen some pretty amazing things in my life, though. Especially recently. But still.

As for werewolves, daemons, and vampyres, I can't say I believe in them either. I have a very weird obsession with vampyres, but I don't think I am one (although I was convinced that my mother was when I was little!). I do, however, believe that there are people who feed on others' energies. I've seen it happen, in fact. Whether or not they are considered true vampyres is another matter.

I firmly state that it is a matter of personal opinion.

One thing that I found interesting in reading this post is the fact that everyone seemed to center on ghosts and vampires/vampyres.

I myself believe in all of that, there is always fact in myth and myth in fact.

Hi! Welcome!
I can give you my views on the subject take it for what you will.

I think these beings are natural as well as Morgandria pointed out, but on a seperate level. How we interact with them gives them energy needed to reach through to our plane. But it's kinda like we are separated by a one way mirror. every now and again, when you view it just right, you can see through to the other side.
You asked about vampires and Demons, I see Demons as blind rage, with no concept of balance. Vampires feed off your life force. But with the light, comes the dark, just as vultures and earthly "scavangers" are necessary, they too have their place.

Werewolves, are another matter entirely in my mind. These are energy patterns so strong and complex, that the people who shapeshift into them (in their mind or no) do actually cause things of a wolvy nature to happen. Do I think the bodies change? no. Rather I feel they create a whole other being entirely in the wolf, in the form of a thought, but also with somewhat of a physical exsistance. So I feel that we manifest this with our will.
Just my 2¢.
