I was just wondering if all babies are born with blue eyes, and why are they blue? I've always been told that babies are born with blue eyes, I was, and now my eyes are green. Also, what about hair color? I know exposure to sunlight lightens hair. I was born with "jet-black" hair and now it's I'd say medium brown, with reddishy highlights.

Both of my babies were born with jet black hair. My son had deep blue eyes and my daughters were more of a muddy blue.
Very quickly, my daughter's eyes turned a greenish color but my son's stayed blue until he was almost 4. My son lost almost all of his hair when he was 3 months and it grew in light brown. Cait never lost her hair but at about 18 months it stared to growing in much lighter and more wavy than the ringlets she was born with.
Go figure. :)

My son was born with his big brown eyes. But he did have dark hair. Now it's a medium brown color and his eyes are still brown.
My nephew has blue eyes, but he's only 3 days old, they may change to green or hazel like his dad's.

I think it's a nature thing.
I was born with eyes such a dark blue the doctor teased my mom that he was going to put black for eye color on the birth certificate! :) My hair was coal black and now it's an auburn color.

I was born a red-head, stayed a red-head. I had blue eyes as a baby, they are now hazel.
My son was born with really dark brown hair and dark gray eyes. His hair has now lightened up to a golden brown and his eyes are brown.

My hub is a red head, always has been since day one, he has green eyes, that were blue when he was born.
I am now a strawberry blond (getting a few white hairs in there... grr, I am too young for that) but I was a born a red head, then from about 2yrs old on I was a toe head (white blond), until I hit my teens. I was born with Blue eyes, and have kept them.
My son and daughter were both born red heads with blue eyes, they both still have the blue eyes. My son now has dark blond hair, and my daughter now has very light blond hair.
I think it is all just a matter of development, and how your body decides to change with your dna. That dna can sometimes be dormant.
My brother in law and his wife, are both very dark brown to black in hair color. Their kids however are all red heads. when we are all together her their kids are often mistaken as mine. Even if they are not red heads, the gene is in there somewhere. You just never know when it is going to decide to show itself.
For all I know my daughter could develop my hair color as she ages... or she could go to brown.
Now take all that red hair, ad in the fact that I am a virgo, and my hub is a scorpio, and take a guess at how much tempers can flare in this house.. LOL

I was born with super-red hair and pretty blue eyes. My hair darkened severely after going lighter.. and my eyes are now olive-green with a hazel ring around the pupil.
Hubby's eyes are hazel and his hair is blonde. Always has been blonde. And CURLY!! My hair is wavy, but it's super-short so it's got no chance to wave! 8O
I wonder what colour hair our kids will have?

I'm guessing I was born with blue eyes because my mom still insists I have blue eyes, which they're certainly not, they're a steel-grey colour.
And I was born with really black/dark brown hair, but when I was in first grade, I guess it was around then, I had had white blonde hair, since then, it's been gradually getting darker, now my ("natural") colour is more of a light brown/dark blonde colour. :)

dont know about the eye thing but i know my cousin was born with Jet black hair which fell out and then he grew brly red hair (where that came from we will never know NO ONE in my family has red hair) and then that fell out and now he has straight dirty blond hair and has for the past 17 years!

My son was born with white-strawberry blonde hair, and he's almost 2, and he's still a white-strawberry blonde, and still has blue eyes.
When I was born, I had steel grey eyes, and Reddish blonde hair, now it's, well, it's neopolitan because i've dyed it a couple of times. The tips are dark red blonde, then there's a stripe of lighter red-blonde, then a strip of light brown, then a strip of dishwater blonde.
My eyes, well, they're hazel, but it depends on my mood, on if they are green, blue, brown, and a couple of times, yellow or red. :D
Anyways, my husband was born a toe head and blue eyes, and now he's a darker blonde(lighter then me) and has brown eyes. His hair is EXETREMLY curly, and my son has ringlets.
I guess it all depends on how the DNA cards decide to match up.

Well, I don't know what my eye color was when I was born.
But one thing was for certain: I was born in need of a haircut.
Yes. I was born with a full head of hair. It was black. I kid you not when I say I looked like Baby Hendrix.

All there of my sons were born with brown eyes.
The oldest and youngest had darker eyes and hair than the middle one. (And more hair I might add.)
In the 1st or 2nd grade the oldest was filling out some kind of description form on himself.
The teacher ask him why he didn't complete the section on eye color?
His reply, "Cause it doen't have a spot for black."
His eyes truely are that deep a brown.
