Spread of the Week rules / instructions:

1. A new spread will be posted weekly (we may change it to bi-weekly or monthly if weekly doesn't seem like enough time to get the readings done).

2. If you'd like to attempt the spread and have a reading done for you using that spread in return, post in the thread.

3. The first person to post will receive the first reading from the 2nd person to post, etc. So, whoever posts in front of you is who you read for, and whoever posts behind you is who is reading for you.

4. The readings should be posted in the thread so that others can read them (after all, this is for the purposes of learning and we all learn better by reading over examples by others) UNLESS the reader deems that the information is too personal to be shared on an open board. If that is the case, then the reader should PM the person they are reading for, but post in the thread that the results were personal and their querent has been PM'd with the results of the reading.

5. Do not post in the threads if you are not willing to read for others. This is a reading exchange, not a free reading.

This is my very first reading for someone other than myself...I meditated and asked for guidance from a master at tarot....and asked that this reading be for Mermaid...here goes...plse need feedback...

Pentacles is the dominate suit....so dominate that the only ones that are not of Pentacles are the questions that involve....the taking of action questions and the actual karmic goal and gift to help in this lifetime...I found this interesting but did not know much other than it all must have to do with earthly learnings in regards to money, skills and talents possibly securing prosperity and protection..

1. 10 of Pentacles
the lesson that you brought into this life is strong ties to family and culture...You may have inherited money or a bussiness that was successfull....In having financial security you learned and stabily with family you learned to really enjoy the time you spent with your family...learned to regard this as very important...time with family and friends...You also realised that you have the potential to achieve worldly dreams...


2. 8 of Swords
Through being subjected to the feelings of being powerless and at the mercy of the controlling behaviour of others....and your feelings not being understood you were frustrated and feared the feelings of not being able to protect yourself...these Actions lead you in the direction needed to be to learn your Karmic lesson...


3.King of Pentatacles
Having a father with high ethical standards, wealth and the social statis needed to help teach you your lesson...your father was able to see you for who you were not what others wanted you to be...he passed on his proud assurance and ethical knowledge...he shared with you how to feel secure in all that you are...and the approval of others that were controlling and that trapped you in self fears was only an elusion...he taught you not to fear...but beleive in yourself...

4. 4 of Pentacles
Through assessing your material possession and monetary values you learned you need to be happy with what you are choosing to do in this lifetime...You learned you need to full-filled as a person thus you have or are in the process of going a new direction...one that expresses your personal interests, something closer to your home and family....therefor you aquired a whole new set of possessions...the wealth of happiness through your own creativity and sharing of who you are as a person....

5.Knight of Pentacles
You still have to learn to trust or let people into your life....Learn that this (possibly young man) has gifts to share with you...he can teach commitment, preserverance and stamina...somthing you may not have learned from being secure in wealth right from the beginning...He is also traditonal, honest and responsible....yet you need to learn to trust in others to recieve their gifts...

6. Page of cups
To reach your Karmic goal you will need to let in at least "A" person.....to learn soulful aspects of life such as empathy, deeper depths of love and emotions....this person is cheerful, playfull and has artistic abilities...he has a trustworthy heart and is a well manner soul....Possible birth of a child

Alright, here goes, sorry if it doesn't make much sense, but I think it turned out ok. I used the Arthurian Tarot deck.

XV The Green Knight- To survive, you built up a strong exterior to keep anything from bringing you down.

2) Past life actions that necessitates this lesson:
Sword 4- Something happened that really broke you down and took you a long time to recover from. Maybe a bad relationship with someone close to you, my guess would be a man.

3) Past life attitudes or emotions that necessitated this lesson:
Sword Maiden- Perhaps you were too trusting, you were young and inexperienced so you didn't see it coming.

4) Test you have passed in this life:
XX The Sleeping Lord- Not too sure... made the connection with next card.

5) Test yet to pass:
Spear 10- I think it is significant that there are birds flying across the tops of these cards, the first being an eagle. I think this means you've learned how to rise above your obstacles, but you musn't forget there is always more to learn.

6) Actions required to acheive karmic goal:
Stone 10- More birds. This time a winter scene. They are carrying the stone together. You must reach out for help. You don't have to do this on your own, let your guard down.

7) Attitude or emotions required to acheive karmic goal:
III Guinevere- A feminine touch, maybe be more gentle, don't be afraid to let your true colors show.

8) Karmic goal in this life:
Grail 9- To seek peace, with yourself and those around you. To create something new out of this experience.

9) A karmic gift:
Grail Knight- Keep your eye on the prize! Never lose sight of your goal :)

1. Main karmic lesson you brought into this life-- XX The Aeon - Your lesson is to recognize that everything you do has an effect and that it is your responsibility. You need to accept this and be honest with yourself if you mess up realize what you did and do what needs to be done to fix it and above all else forgive yourself you are only human.

2. Past life actions that necessitated the lesson-- 10 of swords (ruin) reversed- Im going to say in this case you did reach ruin but you probably had brought it on yourself unknowingly since your lesson in this life is to realize what effects your actions have. Also you thought that it was over usually after the 10 of swords its the end but it did still continue to haunt you afterwards... probably you didnt learn your lesson and you still were not considering the effects of your actions

3. Past life attitudes or emotions that necessitated the lesson-- Ace of Swords (reversed)- You had ideas about how to get yourself out of your ruined situation but you really didnt realize them consciencely because you were too busy feeling bad about your situation.

4. Tests you have passed in this life-- Prince of cups (reversed)- I get a little confused with the court cards because I dont always want to see them as people. But to me this card in the reversed position does show that there is an attitude either from you or someone else of poor poor me... Im always sad Im always sick no one loves me. I admitt I did read a book when I first got my cards and it said that the princes are about learning the outer aspects of their suit. So this one is about learning outer love. But he is reversed so he probably believes that it doesnt exist for him.

5. Tests yet to pass-- XVII The Star- You need to remember to have faith in yourself and your dreams. Remember at your core you are a good person no matter how much you or anyone else tries to tell you otherwise. Trust in yourself

6. Actions required to achieve Karmic goal-- XIX The Sun- Be happy think positive Enjoy the good things in life while still being true to yourself. Remember everything in life happens for a reason, I say this because your lesson is to see the cause and effect and while you observe this you may notice that even bad things that happen are for a reason. Maybe you lost something of value to you on a bus or somewhere and its a horrible experience for you but someone who needed it even more picked it up and thats what they needed most right then in their life. Remember to see the whole picture not just yourself.

Well it made me think, maybe there some of that reflects in me, just different types of behavior. I remember reading somewhere that even the family you're born into can reflect on your karmic experiences. I think this is telling me that my family has a lot to do with it, and I can learn from them.

Balance/Temperance—the need to learn to balance the different aspects of yourself: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. Finding out how to avoid going to excess of one thing to the exclusion of / being out of balance with other aspects. Healthy moderation.

Queen of Pentacles—copious amounts of prosperity, most likely material, which blocked out or overshadowed some other elements important to life.

3. Past life attitudes or emotions that necessitated the lesson:

Queen Swords—a sharp intellect, not necessarily your own, used to justify your position in life instead of to appreciate and understand situations other than your own.

With the cards in position 2 and 3, it seems that in the past there may have been a strong female influence resulting in card 5, the feminine moon. Cards 6 and 7 seem to be reflecting the need for card 1, with a more masculine outlook being called for. The attainment of this new outlook evolves into the 3 of Staves--a wider perspective.

You're here this time to learn to make wise choices.I really hope so! I hope the decisons I've made thus far have been wise ones, but some of them... maybe not so much. ;)

I don't have nearly as much "water" in this life as it seems I had in a past life. Perhaps that lack this time is a good thing, and with more "air" (I'm a gemini) I can maybe make smarter / wiser decisions. I also find it interesting that Water is my problem element, I have a fear of it, and it cropped up pretty heavily in this past life.

4. Tests you have passed in this life-- 5 of Pentacles-You have felt loss, you've possibly lost everything you had including material wealth/possessions, hope and faith in people. But instead of allowing that to be the shape of your life, you fought your way back up and out with the help of others.I'd like to think that this is true. I tend to downplay my problems quite a bit, but if I look back & list the issues I've had there are quite a few of them that I have overcome, and I hope I've overcome them well.

I'm not really an ambitious person, I tend to prefer the sidelines and helping others achieve their goals. I will give up something I want, so that someone else can have what they want or need. And I usually won't complain about it. I probably do need to develop a little more self-esteem / self-worth and start putting myself first, and knowing (Strength) that I deserve it.

I think the main lesson you need to learn in this life is when to act and when to be patient. Sometimes opportunities come to us through hard work, right action, and perseverance. Some opportunities appear out of nowhere and blindside us! It is learning the difference between the two, when to act on a spur of the moment opportunity and when to wait and put in the work, effort and patience that is the hard part.

I think the 2 cards above are telling me that in a past life you probably had alot given to you. You came from a family or community that was not in need very often, and therefore didn't have to really struggle or work to get what they wanted or needed. There were worries, but they were of a more superficial nature. More worrying if someone would like your dress than worrying about whether or not you could pay a bill or get a job you want. It isn't that you were selfish person, necessarily, just that you didn't experience any lack of anything, and didn't learn the associated lessons.

4. Tests you have passed in this life - Judgment
I think you've probably re-invented yourself more than once. You've maybe had to pick up and start over, make the best of what you had and make yourself fit into a new situation. These are good lessons to learn and can be quite fun if looked at in the right way. It gives you an appreciation for what you've had, but also an appreciation for those opportunities (mentioned in the 8 of Wands) that crop up and / or pass you by.

I think you might need to be a bit more resourceful. The woman in this card image has 2 wands, and it picking up another off the ground. One man's trash is another man's treasure comes to mind. This is another of those opportunity lessons. Take a look around and see what you can use to your benefit. Are there programs, classes, communities, etc. that you can get into that will help you achieve your goals?

A sense of peace, of being comfortable in your own skin. Of knowing that you've been able to accomplish everything you've needed to. Being self-sufficient, but not necessarily alone. You don't want to NEED anyone else, but it is ok to WANT someone else. You would also like to take the lessons you've learned and be able to show others how you did it, and that they can do it too. But, you'll hold the position of letting them come to you, you won't offer the help unless you're asked, someone has to want to learn what you can teach them. That is the best kind of student.

I think you need to follow your heart. What you want may seem idealistic and impractical to others, but dreams aren't always impractical. If no one had ever followed their dreams, we wouldn't have cars, air travel, and tons of the other terrific things we enjoy today. Trust your intuition & your emotions to show you the way.

7. Attitude or emotions required to achieve Karmic goal - Devil
This is an interesting coupling with the Knight of Cups. Maybe you need to be a little more selfish and a little more aware of your desires. I think you need to explore your limits a bit more. Not in a bad way, really... but there are probably things you haven't tried. I don't want the word "sensual" to be misconstrued here. Sensual pleasure means ALL of your senses, it isn't about sex (or not JUST about sex). Take time to taste new things, smell and see new things, listen to new music, expand your horizons. :) Figure out the things that you really like, and enjoy surrounding yourself with.

Part of this is a great ability to weigh your choices. You take the time to think your way through things, and you can probably do so fairly quickly, so that when those spur of the moment opportunities arise, you are a fair judge of whether or not it is right for you. You have a great attitude about being fair, as well. Equilibrium is yours.

Possibly very true...am not rich but I actually lack for nothing..had a couple of lessons in this life with lack of...but not many...I really did learn from them though

Very true.....part of small businness in progress...if they come I will teach if not...finished banging my head against the wall working with those that are not in the space to learn....

I think you need to follow your heart. What you want may seem idealistic and impractical to others, but dreams aren't always impractical. Sensual pleasure means ALL of your senses, it isn't about sex (or not JUST about sex). 1. 10 of Pentacles
the lesson that you brought into this life is strong ties to family and culture...You may have inherited money or a bussiness that was successfull....In having financial security you learned and stabily with family you learned to really enjoy the time you spent with your family...learned to regard this as very important...time with family and friends...You also realised that you have the potential to achieve worldly dreams...

This IS a theme in my life, family, money. Can't say I have inherited anything to speak of, so not sure what that refers to--kind of hope I won't inherit anything in the near future...

Through being subjected to the feelings of being powerless and at the mercy of the controlling behaviour of others....and your feelings not being understood you were frustrated and feared the feelings of not being able to protect yourself...these Actions lead you in the direction needed to be to learn your Karmic lesson...

Being assertive is something I've worked on, though I'm not sure how this connects with strong family ties.

Having a father with high ethical standards, wealth and the social statis needed to help teach you your lesson...your father was able to see you for who you were not what others wanted you to be...he passed on his proud assurance and ethical knowledge...he shared with you how to feel secure in all that you are...and the approval of others that were controlling and that trapped you in self fears was only an elusion...he taught you not to fear...but beleive in yourself...

hm...guess I'm not really sure how to respond to the past-life things, as I don't really have any knowledge of this past life.

Through assessing your material possession and monetary values you learned you need to be happy with what you are choosing to do in this lifetime...You learned you need to full-filled as a person thus you have or are in the process of going a new direction...one that expresses your personal interests, something closer to your home and family....therefor you aquired a whole new set of possessions...the wealth of happiness through your own creativity and sharing of who you are as a person....

This is true. I'm in a new chapter of my life and things I value are changing with my new path.

excesses are certianly a problem for me. I am an all or nothing kind of guy.
