Does anyone here use a crystal ball? I do and it would be nice to have someone else to discuss this with. Hee,hee ;)

I have one. I don't get alot of chance to work with it though.
The only trouble is that whenever I touch it, it gets all cloudy.
I mentioned this to the place that I bought it from and they said that it just happens with some of them. They have told me that I can trade it up if I like, so I am still pondering. I have become really attached to it.
So, I am not sure what kind of discussion you were looking for, but I thought I would reply anyway! :) :) :)
Great topic by the way! :D

Have you cleansed the ball? It is very important to ensure it is free of latent energies from previous handling/handlers.
I always cleanse and re-energize a new ball with a 24 hour bath in water with sea salts added. After the bath, I wipe it dry with a soft cloth and this process basically erases any previous energies it has been exposed to. The ball will have a noticeable clarity and it is then ready for me to handle and to imprint my energy upon. It can be energized by setting it in the sun to soak up light (they love light) or set out to gather the energy of a full moon. Once this process has been completed, your ball will be easier to work with and ready for readings. I also cleanse the ball with a quick dip by running it under cold water after giving a reading for a client to remove their imprint quickly and easily. When not in use, the Ball should be kept covered. I use a dark cloth or draw string bag for storage so it doesn't absorb latent or stray energy when idle.
Note: be careful where you place the ball in sunlight as it can burn a hole as it also acts like a magnifying glass and will burn a nice arc in a wooden coffee table! Hee,hee :o
:) BTW the clouding of a crystal is not a bad thing, and there's nothing wrong with it. In fact clouding usually portends the appearance of a manifestation. Is the clouding always there? Or just when handled. Also note any coloration or direction of shifting in the clouds as this can be significant.

Would you recommend the same method of cleansing for both a quartz ball & a glass ball? Also, I've noticed most of my pieces of quartz cloud up with handling (the more occlusions they have to begin with, the more quickly they seem to cloud up). This is a physical occurrence, & not the same as the "clouding" effect that comes with gazing/scrying (with a "regular" piece of quartz, some of this will go away with vigorous shaking, as if you were trying to shake water off of it. I can't explain it, but it seems to work).

Yes, I have cleansed the sphere. It wasn't as long as 24 hours but it was long enough I felt at the time. If memory serves me correctly... it was about 10 hours left in salt water. Then I let it bathe in moonlight for 3 days beginning on the full.
I also store it in a black drawstring bag when it is not out for my enjoyment.
AS for the clouding... it only appears when I touch it. I even thought I may have "hot" hands, so I have laid it out in front of me to look into it, but not handle it. It still clouds.
It is a beautiful sphere. It has really beautiful feathering and so much depth. I was very drawn to it. It is one of my faves.
I may try the 24 hour process leave it out in the sun for a few days.
Let me know what you think darlin.
:D
Thanks for all the info though. Great stuff. I will check to see if any cloudy shifts. I intend to bring it out tonight and check what you have recommended. :D

I wouldn't leave it out for a few days in sunlight, all it really needs is an afternoon. :D
The same principals apply for natural or man made crystal or glass balls. I use one made of austrian crystal and it works just fine. As a natural crystal conducts energy it not unusual for them to occlude when energy is focused on them by your proximity, so some don't require a touch to sense.
Again clouding or other phenomena are normal for crystals, and there is nothing wrong with those that do this. If you have one that does this you have a keeper. Hmmm? ;)

Hi all!! :D Great thread and thanks for all the info Red Dragon!!
I havent got a Crystal ball ~ but have just started gazing with a friends ~ the first time I did it was jst round a friends and I didnt see anything, then I tried after our Beltane ritual and was very successful ~ we both saw a woman who wasnt very happy who was actually in (a spirit) the woods we were working ~ we decided to other her all the food and wine we had used in the ritual aswell as offering it to the gods and goddesses and leave her in peace (hope shes ok). Then at the last full moon I was successful again!! I saw quite allot of diiferent images and times... Its so fascinating!!
I actually bought a pink Dragon Spa ball yesterday ~ for healing purposes rather than gazing and tried gazing with it last night while I was playing with it ~ and was successful again I think!! I saw a lovely white horse who I had seen before in the Crystal ball on last weeks Full Moon!! :D

MM All,
I don't have a crystal or glass ball as of yet, can't quite afford one. I want a fairly large crystal one and they are expensive.
I have read though that the gazing ball should not be held in the hands while gazing. Well held, but you hold the gazing ball on a black velvet cloth covering your hands, your skin should not be touching the ball directly. Maybe that's what is causing the clouding. Let us all know what results are different, if any.

Is scrying with a crystal ball the same as scrying with a crystal ... well just the rock, no shaping or anything?
I've tried scrying with my crystal balls and I haven't been able to pick anything up, not even any clouding. And yet I have a quartz point that I see things in.

Yes a crystal of any type will work for gazing as they all possess the same abilities. As for not holding it while gazing? I've never heard of anyone saying you shouldn't do this before. Touch is necessary for personal and client viewing as there is a need to imprint your energy on the ball. When one gets a new ball, the first step is to cleanse it, then handle it and get familiar with the patterns, occlusions, etc. I handle a new ball a lot so my imprint is the strongest and it makes it easier to connect when it is aligned with your specific energy flows. For gazing for others, I have them handle it for a few moments to imprint their energy on it, then I can read for them as the ball is now attuned to them. After reading for others I cleanse the ball either by running it under cold flowing water, or a quick bath in water with sea salts added. This erases the clients imprint, but leaves my own permanent imprint on the ball.
I use a dark cloth or drawstring bag to cover the ball when not in use to protect it from picking up and absorbing latent energy from the curious, the negative, and others who are invariably drawn to it. Not to mention the clutter of energy that flows unconsciously in our daily lives.:D
I got my first ball at a very reasonable price with monthly payment to boot from The Franklin Mint. They are a nice size, and have a selection of attractive bases including an Egyptian one and like mine the three fates holding the ball. Check with them as they likely have some left. :)
Hope this helps, and feel free to PM me if you have more private or personal questions regarding the ball. ;)

This falls under scrying also--Reanna--do NOT dispare--the clouds you see what color are they? Not everyone sees in full clear precise pictures and since you have cleansed the crystal there is nothing wrong with it or you. You just need to ask a specific question prior to scrying and learn the different colors of the smoke/clouds meanings.

I still think you should all look into the ones that were offered by the Franklin mint. They are a good size and while not natural crystal, are man made Austrian crystal and will work quite well. They have some nice bases on which to display the ball, and are of generally good quality. I think they're around a hundred dollars or less. Good luck... Hee,hee. ;)

so far my question is just general (since I know absolutely nothing about it)
You buy it and cleanse it and everything that is being discussed...then what?? basically...(doesn't have to be in detail or anything) how do you use them? how are they used...do you just look into it and pray and then you see things in your mind?...like I said I am very ignorant when it comes to this topic!! If I get the basics of how to use them, then I can ask ask specific questions
thanks

:D Ok...
Unfortunately, the ball doesn't come with an owners manual, and it's hard to find good information... :(
Once you have prepared your crystal ball it is ready for you to work with. I prefer a dark room lit by two candles placed on either side of the ball. This makes it easier for me to view and frees the ball from the multiple reflections it would have in a well lit cluttered area. I find the less distractions the better. I usual meditate and call upon the god and godess to help guide me.
Place the ball in front of you and sit in a comfortable position. the trick is to learn to focus and relax start with a few short sessions gradually working up to longer ones as you are less fatigued. Do you recall those posters where you had to look through them in order to see a 3-d image? well if so this is what we're looking for with the ball or any scrying tool for that matter. try to look into the centre of the ball letting your eyes relax as if your loolking at something but not directly at it such as when you're thinking about something and just letting your eyes wander. Practice this for as long as it's comfortable. You will find it easier to do as you progress.
Work with the ball daily for around 30 days or so and you will see results.
Manifestations can range from actual images, an intuition or a simple as a feeling in your mind. Some of the visable phenomena commonly seen in the ball itself are clouding, swirling or images. Look for direction and movement of phenomena and wherther they are near the front, middle or rear of the viewing area. Items to the rear are far off while items in the front are likely to occur in the very near future.
It is important that you treat the ball as sacred, as it possess spirit, and you will find it has its own with whom you can communicate. Work with it and get to know the individual spirit. Also very important, is knowing that both the past and present can't be altered while the the future is always in flux or rather not yet formed and may yet change or can be changed. Something seen in the ball future tense is not definite and should not taken literally.
This is why if for example I saw a person hit by a bus, it would be illl advised for me to tell them that as it might not occur. In fact if you were to do the reading the following day or even hours later, it would be noticably different. You must be very carefull not to cause the thing you perceived to happen as by revealing things indescriminately, you could cause it to happen. remember the law of Magick "Energy follows thought" Ex: if you told the same person that they would be hit by a bus, the very idea of this may cause them to unwittingly manifest their fears.
I never reveal any really negative things I may see, and try to focus on the possitives as our lives are usually filled with enough doubt and negativity.
Hope this helps... :D Red

I know nothing about crystal balls except what I've read here. Do crystal balls have to be clear so you can see through? Can you use other things like moonstone or labradorite or something "solid" like that? If you're using for scrying, does it have to be round? Can it be ellipse?

Try this from My Dear friend Hester......
" Fill the bowl with water (best if the water has been charged with moonlight first) then set it on a dark cloth atop your altar or other table.
Turn down the lights. Surround the bowl with
tealight candles and light them in a deosil
(sunwise) order. Rub your third eye, burn
divinatory incense, drink an infusion of
prophetic herbs, listen to soothing music, or do
whatever raises your psychic powers. Now, gaze
into the bowl until the visions become clear."

Hi Red Dragon,
I had a question regarding the Austrian Crystal.
I once read an article that said because of the way the crystals are mined (quickly, roughly and in bulk) they still need to heal themselves before they can heal others. Do you have any thoughts on this? I'm curious because I've been told in the past to try and avoid Austrian crystal if I can because of this.

*grin* Quite possible, but that's not what I know it as (of course I'm from Australia, different names for same things sometimes come into play).
When I say "Austrian Crystal" I mean the actual crystals and gemstones that are mined there, there is a similar case for those from Brazil.
Maybe I'm just confusing what on earth "Austrian Crystal" is *grin*

Merry Merry,
Of a crystal , you can feel if it needs to be cleansed. Its like working with any other energy, for instance the air which is thick and rich with promise of scented pleasure in spring ( who was that that said air was thin ??8O )
If the mining techniques are called into question, and in an eco and sociological sense they should be ....... look at diamonds from South Africa mined by what amounted to slave labor for years while the "upper classes " lived on the benefits,
then as some say NO crystals should be used as they should not be removed from the mother, but then we eat carrots dont we and remove them from the mother.
Depends on your definition of harm, and what you are willing to support that is considered harmful .
As for the individual crystal, you have to work with it , its like the air, either you feel it; or you dont; but its there , thick and rich with promise.

The reason I asked those questions is that I have a ellipse labradorite egg. It's really beautiful with all the veins of iridescent going through it. I was thinking of using that to try scrying. It sounds like you can use many different materials...is there a difference scrying with a crystal ball or in a mirror, or with a bowl of water? Do you get same or similar results?
Rick
June 25th, 2001, 07:22 AM
Hmm... I've only tried scrying with a glass ball & a mirror... my results were similar... I primarily use my mirror to... well, not exactly meditate, but to reach a meditative-type state (or just kinda "zone out"). Very relaxing!
I think the process of scrying is much like "daydreaming". You just kinda "unfocus". Gazing into certain surfaces seem to make that process a little easier than others, but it's more about gazing, or "staring", & unfocusing, or "zoning".
I hope that wasn't just more confusing...

My understanding is that any reflective surface can be used for scrying. I once knew someone who used a black onyx mirror for scrying, it was beautiful! I don't see why you couldn't use laboradorite. However, if it needs to be reflective you might have to have it polished. I'm not sure.
The only way you can really tell, is to give it a try! :D

For some reason I haven't been getting noification of new posts, so I'll try and answer a few of you questions now. Bingo :smash:, Austrian Crystal is man made. Some suggest it won't work as well as a natural crystal, STUFF AND NONSENSE!!! In fact any reflective surface will work. I've had success with something as simple as water in small cauldron. As for other types of stones, if it has a reflective surface and you feel comfortable with it, then you can use it with great success! The principle for using a crystal ball is the same as scrying, be it pools, mirrors, or what have you. I always try to work with the oft overlooked rule of Magick "Keep it simple stupid" or KISS. You are ther lynchpin for working magick, if you feel right about it and it works for you, then the powers that be will work with and through you.
BTW: Any specific question can be pm'd to me and I'll give it my utmost attention. :D

It is one of the crystalline substances found in the Bluestones at Stonehenge.

Ya Know... Labradorite comes from Canada from a place called Labrador which is one of our Canadian provinces. Hence the name Labradorite Hee,hee. ;) Anyhow, it works just fine for skrying. As to whether it also can be found at Stonhenge, I can't really say. Once when I was a very young green dragon, I did see a tiny spaceship land there to refuel, :P but that's another story...
Come to think of it maybe they left it there ;)
Wild Child, A glass ball will work well, but yes you should dust it off, ;) To cleanse it I'd sugest you wash it in sea salt and water, then let it sit in the sun to absorb energy.
(Be carefull where you put it, as I've had one burn a nice arc in a new coffee table  )
I like to charge a newly cleansed ball by exposing it to moonlight. Once this is done, spend some time handling it before you try using it. This will imprint your energy on it and atune it to your energy flow. Try to work with it slowly at first with short (fifteen minutes or so) daily sessions, then as you grow more adept, increase the viewing time.
If you like I'll be happy to provide more specific information. Either ask here, or PM me, or even at pfmagick@hotmail.com. Happy Gazing. :D

is a feldspar,,,,, and is found in Madagascar, and many other places, named Labradorite because that is one of the places of its discovery.
Dolorite, is a feldspar, which is found in the bluestones from the Presili mountain ranges in Wales whence comes the bluestones, in which
cryatals of the feldspar Labradorite can be found.
After I had my "experience" at Stonehenge on Solstice 1999, I did quite of bit research on many aspects of the stones, history , crystalline make-up many many things. Did you know there is a little known rare lichen that is phosphorescent that grows there on the stones?
Well anyway Labradorite is a wonderful crystal
and has many qualities which make it excellent for scrying and other things. I recommend a search ......... on the net and see what you can see :> like this....
Labradorite is a feldspar and develops in metamorphic stone. The natural iridescence flashes a rainbow of colors. Labradorite is a transition stone that naturally heals and balances the aura. The aura shields your consciousness, and your body, from foreign influences, especially during vulnerable growth phases. Labradorite resonates with spiritual mystery and is the companion stone for spiritual be-ing.

About the crystal clouding- apparently that is water vapour held in the structure of teh crystal and when u energise it by holding it this becomes apparent. When using them for healing it often clears out after a little while though i dont know if this would be the same for scrying becasue there is a diferent energy exchange.. or maybe it is a "feminine" quartz, charecterised by being milky(masculine quartz is clear)?
And with the mining causes trauma, yes this is a real concern and you often find crystals whos energy has been destroyed by the extractoin/tumbling/carving etc process, this iw hy its best to buy them as whole and intact as possible. Not to say that the tumbled shaped ones have bad energy- my favourite crystal and most powerful is a tiny tumbled citrine- but the process is damaging for them. Burying them in the earth for several months may be the only way to let them heal themselves! I dont know if youve seen but you can get "self healed" crystals that have formed a point from a breakage, these are ones that taught thenselves to heal and are therefore much beter at doing this on others.. though having never used one in healing i wouldnt know. Each crystal is unique; some may need only 3 days of initial cleansing in sea salt but some may need a long time to grow and recover their energy... if yo uknow how, "feed" the crystal or just play with it: it benefits the crystal by geting healing, and you by having the crystal vibrations in your aura. Hope thats helpful.. love and light, Justin

I was dusting this morning & found a solid glass globe (about 4 cm) sitting on top of a shelf. Suddenly, lightning strikes & I think to myself...why, I can use this as a crystal ball! I have no idea where it came from. I asked my hubby & he doesn't remember either. Doesn't matter...I'm going to clean it in salt water tonight & try scrying with it. I guess there's some good that comes out of doing housework!!
*doing a very happy dance!*:D :D :D
Thats so wicked hun! I love it when things like that happen! It must of been put there for you by your goddesses or spirit guide ~ especially for you to gaze with and a further push with a full moon!!
How did it go? Did you get any results?
Swannie is the face supposed to be there? That sounds very curious!!
Thanks for the info Softly, I have heard of that before and find it really interesting!
My bf brought me back a lovely moss agate ball from Oz the other week and its a very powerful Crystal, It makes me look deep inside myself to heal and there I see the visions and memories. The other day while I was meditating I saw my white horse again which I have seen in my Saturn Spa ball and in a friends Crystal ball. After I gazed with my Saturn Spa ball and saw a young woman with brown hair (me) running beside this white horse, she then jumped up of it and rode it around bareback.. it was such a simply but extremley powerful vision ~ I felt such an overwhelming feeling of freedom too :D

Merry Merry,
Ono the face isnt "supposed to be there it just IS there, and its a very "STONE face" as in linear features, lookslike the face of a "rock person " or "Stone Spirit " ...... well that does it let me try scanning that peice today and see what happens....

Swannie, I don't see the face but a full figure. It looks like a person wearing a long robe with wide sleeves. It's standing to the right of the picture. Am I just being weird?

I tried it a few times but no results yet. Each time, I thought I had uninterupted span of time but always got interupted. I'm going to try again this weekend. :)

Thanks and blessings to you, too!
One of these days I'm going to actually USE the beautiful crystal ball I bought last year instead of just admiring it..............
