I'm sitting here looking at the 3 decks that I have, well, looking at 2, and shuffling one. I prefer the Drgon Tarot, but was wondering what other people liked....

Secret Tarot??? I will have to look that one up, never heard of it and it sounds intriguing....
Anyways, There are several I use for different purposes but my favorite is the Arthurian Tarot. I also use Universal-Waite, Crow's Majick, and my Osho Zen. I have the Dragon Tarot and I love the artwork as well, but I find the too difficult to use because they are all dragons, I'm too distracted by the pretty pictures:P Drisel has a Witch's Tarot, which is very nice and I can handle her cards without it bothering me, as other decks in stores have bothered me, but I don't think I'ld be comfortable with them. I am not comfortable with Thoth at all. Actually, there are alot of decks that I have that I don't use right now... glad you brought it to mind.. I should tuck them all into bed with me tonight so they don't get too upset with me!

I teach with the traditional Rider, but for my own Tarot work I use the Robin Wood Tarot - it's my favorite, and I have some cards signed by Robin herself at a book signing. { I also have book #62 of her original 500 - brag, brag!}
I also have ( but don't use - for some obvious reasons) the Celtic Dragon tarot -- in Czech!

Ah the Secret Tarot! Thats on my wishlist (one at the top).
I guess I'd have to say I use "other". I tend to be drawn to different "kinda out there" decks, like Phantasmagoric Theater and Tarot of the Imagination but I do use traditional ones also.

I use Robin Wood Tarot for most all readings. I just have the deck, not the book. Like Tarotbear, it's my favorite deck.
I also have the following decks: Rider/Waite, Dragon Tarot, Witches Tarot, Sacred Circle Tarot, Cosmic Tribe Tarot, Buckland's Romany Tarot, and Tarot Classic.
Most get used for one thing or another (meditations, spellwork, reading for myself or others depending on the deck, daily one card reflections, etc.) while a deck or two are basically collecting dust....but I just can't bring myself to get rid of them yet.

I really perfer the Ryder Waites deck although I do have several. I find that almost all other cards are derived from them and the graphics don't change that much from the original. I sometimes wonder if all of these "different" decks are just made to make more money. Of course, I do agree that certain pictures and colors are going to appeal to one person whereas another would not be attracted. In the end, it is nice to have choices.

I use the Sacred Circle deck, which I love. The Fairy Ring deck has just been added to my wish list, I can't stop looking at them...they're so beautiful. Is this more of an oracle deck rather than tarot?
I had Tarot of the Old Path years ago, and came home one day to find my (then) baby girl using them for teething purposes! Only one survived, the Empress card, which I have framed on my altar. I found out later that her card is the High Priestess card, so I suppose it was fitting that she chewed them!

My new Robin Wood Tarot now appears as "weathered" as any of the others! Her's was the First Book of Tarot I'd purchased in over five-years.

I just found my Halloween Tarot, which I got a good two years ago, because I love Halloween (born the day before!) and they are really cute cards. I have barely used them but.. then again I've barely done tarot at all so that's no surprise.
Those Fairy cards are beautiful.. I'm looking for Robin Wood, and Egyptian decks, which call to me the most so far..

Greetings to all
The first deck that I have ever gotten was the Eileen Connelly Deck. I find the deck very colorful and beatifully illistrated. I have been using this same deck for many, many years now. I also have other decks, but I find that I use this deck more often than not. The cards are pretty worn from so much use but I cannot seem to put them aside for another deck.

I love the Osho Zen cards!! I have five different decks - Osho Zen, Celtic, Goddess, Mythic, and Enchanted. Osho Zen is the only one I don't have to puzzle over the meanings for. It's nice to "meet" someone else who uses the cards. My fave traditional deck are my Mythic cards - I love the symobology of using Greek and Roman God/desses.

I started reading Tarot with a traditional deck, but I found the cards hard to read, and memorize the meanings of. I went to a bookstore and purchased a lovely set of tarot cards and a book on wicca in a pack called, "The Wicca Pack". The book gives a nice brief history of Wicca, the sabbats and some magickal workings. The meanings of the cards are in the back. The meanings are easy to work with and memorize, plus the artwork is wonderful. I suggest this pack to tarot lovers.

I use the Rider Waite for meditation and divination. I use the Thoth, rarely for meditation, and for ritual.
I have been meditating (infrequently) on the Case deck, which is a revised Rider Waite.
I have also been fooling around with the Golden Dawn Magical Tarot. It is based on the descriptions of the Golden Dawn Tarot, as written in Book T. The colors used are the flashing scales. Those are the colors that invert when stared at too long.
I'm a tarot fiend. I do good readings, but I need to memorize attributions, and learn my Qabalah.

The others I have are: Tarot 2000 Pagan (very nice), Goddess (love it), Nigel Jackson, Robin Wood, Norse, Legend Arthurian, Halloween (carry it with me everywhere), Whimsical, Stained Glass, Arthurian by Matthews (use this one for animals mostly), Wise Woman, and Cosmic (which I am trying to trade).

The Goddess Tarot is for readings only for me, the Faeries Oracle hasn't been used in months if not years, the Unicorn Tarot never read nicely for me until the past month or two, I used to use the Moon Garden deck for all normal readings, and I just got the Quest Tarot yesterday so I'm still working with it.

i have the Goddess Tarot, but can't use it.
one of the problems i have is this...
i see the tarot as a journey to enlightenment as seen through the eyes of the Fool. the Trumps especially mark his journey progressively as he experiences the trials of life through the archetypes, learning at each step along the way.
but in the Goddess Tarot, where are the masculine archetypes?
well of course they are in there somewhere, but in the system of the tarot, not the theme of the deck. and in that case i can find them better in other decks.
i guess i need more than just 78 pretty pictures.
i find no balance in this deck, but i maybe that's just me.

Greenman - I think what you are talking about is POLARITY.
As I have said many times in other threads and on other forums, 'themed' decks do not always work. Therefore any deck that is blindsided towards one gender is missing polarity. That is why I totally dislike the Motherpeace deck which not only is non-polar but strongly anti-male on top of it.

Well let me think...
I use my Witches Tarot the most, but that's the deck that I have had the longest too. I also have the Art Nouveu tarot. On a purely aesthetic value, it's a real gem. As a divination tool, it's not the best I have. I have the Renaissance tarot, and I get surprisingly accurate readings out of it. I have the Gill deck, but it doesn't speak to me much. <shrugs> Then there's the Faery Wicca tarot, I'm not sure how to describe my relationship with that deck. I have the Barbara Walker tarot, but I don't use it much any more. It was the one that I learned to read with. My fiancee has it *somewhere* in his house. <laughs> I loaned it to him about a year a go and it's been mia ever since.
I had the Egyptian tarot and gave it away. I had *no* luck reading with that deck. It was interesting though. I've played around with the Thoth tarot deck, it was interesting. Something about it, however, made me uncomfortable. <shrugs> Maeby it's just me though.

I use the Shapeshifter Tarot. I find I can't do readings with traditional Tarot decks as they don't speak to me in any language that means something to me. The Shapeshifter Tarot however uses Celtic Deities as opposed to Knights and Kings and stuf and emphahsises the importance of animals and nature, as well as shapeshifting into said animals and shamanism. :)
The other deck I have is the Mythic tarot. They're alright but don't speak to me as much as the Shapeshifter.

Getting in on this one late, but what the heck.
Between my wife and I, we've got Universal Waite, Robin Wood, Thoth, Golden Dawn, Tarot Art Nouveau (the Italian one), and the DeAngelis Universal Tarot.
I've recently taken tarot back up after a hiatus, and I'm working primarily with the DeAngelis -- it utilizes all of the original symbolism of the Rider/Waite deck, but with new paintings that are a little more interesting than the original:
http://www.wicce.com/deangelis1.jpg
http://www.wicce.com/deangelis2.jpg
My first deck was the Tarot Art Nouveau, which I picked out solely for its breathtaking artwork. Unfortunately, it's rather difficult to work with, as the artwork gives virtually no clue to the meaning of the cards. So I've put it on the back-burner for awhile until my tarot study progresses further. But check out this artwork - isn't it awesome?

My favourite deck is the Sacred Circle. I love the images and as i am a beginner the key words and images on the cards mean that it is easier to remember what each card means. It was funny as i had bought myself a deck of cards when i was about ten and for some reason i HATED it. I could never concentrate on my readings or even remember what any of the cards meant. I went to a psychic awareness course and Artemis who was running the course had heaps of decks for sale. At the beginning of the class she was opening one to show (it was the sacred circle) and i yelled "hey stop, that's mine" :woah: everyone was staring at me i didn't know where the comment came from but the rest is history...

Most people usually find this a little odd (although I'm not completely sure why), but my favourite of all time is the Hallowe'en Tarot. I absolutely adore it.

well i can't say i think it's great, but i actually think that the Halloween tarot is pretty good. i like it alot better than most so-called 'legit' tarot decks (and that's coming from a tarot snob!). i call it the 'Tim Burton Tarot' (lol).
i have the Celtic Tarot. it was the first tarot deck i bought, other than my 25 year old Rider-Waite. i'm not that crazy about it (or the RW either, for that matter), but i don't wanna get rid of it. after all, it's part of the collection!

I have entirely too many Tarot decks..I tend to collect them (the hazard of working in a store where I can order the darned things when they catch my fancy...)
I still go back to the old Aquarian Tarot, and I like the Hudes deck and the Robin Wood Tarot really well also. I just started using the Gendron Tarot and really like it. I find that a lot of it depends on my state of mind, different decks seem to work better for me at certain times then others.

My favorite deck for the last 15+ years is the Voyager Tarot (Wanless).
I am also a collector, and see many with art that draw me to purchase them, but I only read with the Voyager. The images speak quite clearly to me (even when I want to ignore them). Many times the answer to my query is a feeling from the image more than a definition from the card. With other decks I find that I struggle for meaning or pertinance. I love art and beautiful things, so I will probably continue adding to my collection. But I will always refer to the Voyager as MY deck and the one I turn to.

My favorite is the herbal tarot. I also find the Tarot Sutra (if I can mention it here) amusing.

crowley's thoth tarot, while the symbolism is far too complex for me to understand fully at this stage, i fell in love with the imagery from the first sight. i also believe i was guided to this deck, as i found it in perfect condition at *can you believe it* a garage sale. i wasn't even looking for it. you never know where you're going to find the best stuff.

I thought I posted here already but it doesn't look like it.
I use the Shapeshifter Tarot deck. I abosolutly love it. It's very spiritual and I'm very connected to animals so it works very well for me.
I also own the Thoth deck and the Elemental Tarot.

I mainly use the Sacred Circle deck, but really want a new one. I like the Froud Fairy Oracle deck...and the Ancestral Path tarot...and oh bah, there are just too many decks and not enough hours.

I use the Whimsical Tarot by Dorothy Morrison! They're based on nursery rhymes and fairy tales, so they're very easy to read, the art work is by Mary Handson-Roberts, so they're soft and warm and well, they're just totally awesome!

Good ole tried and true Rider-Waite. I've been using that deck since I was 14.

I use Robin Wood tarot & Cosmic tarot..
I also have, Haindl * Sasha Fenton * Osho Zen tarot.
I am dying to use my Osho Zen tarot, but they need to be cleansed first, waiting for the new moon. I can't read my Haindl tarot, and my sasha fenton deck is very very bold & bright, something very practical for a beginner.

Lately I've been using the Gendron deck for tarot and the Froud Faeries Oracle exclusively.

Robin Wood exclusively. I used to use a standard Rider-Waite deck, but I got my Robin Wood one as a Christmas gift from a friend, and I now use that one exclusively. I find it so much easier to read than my other deck ever was, and the art is simply amazing.

The Osho Zen deck that I have is my favorite.
Beautiful illustrations... and it tends to give me the best readings as well.
