We begin to FEEL something that calls our name....

The breeze dances across our face and calls our name.....

As the air begins to have a chill and the harvest is put in the bins we begin to feel the Old Way calling once more....

Any of you got this feeling come up in your bones?

Any reason why just some are called and not all?

Feel free to add what your heart is speaking.....blessings

I am called to be outside and walk the trails this time of year, oh and to bake for some reason

I must say I get that baking thing going too....

ANd the last full moon called and is still calling.....

This is such a magical time ... Spring is nice...but Fall...that's where it is at!

I also get the need to do that extra house cleaning thing..like before the windows are shut for winter I need to chase the spiders outside and the flies off the screens....and the summer dust needs to go out too.

For those that are too wrapped up in day to day life.......take a breath and look outside.....maybe there is a falling leaf just for you.

For me the call of fall is a mixture of coziness--the beckoning of the fireplace, asking for a fire, the scents of bread and apple dumplings and cookies baking--and roaming, feeling the wind whip my hair around, and seeing the leaves turn on the hills and watching them fall outside my window. There's a lovely pick-your-own orchard a couple towns over, and when you're picking apples you're up on a sort of ridge on a hill and have a great view of the trees in the hills and valleys as they begin to change color. The wind and the sun and the hills and the apples all together is a combination that I just can't get enough of. Then there's a section of much smaller, forested hills up the road from me with trails that seem to just beg for walking and more walking. I love autumn.

We've gotten the edges of Isadore in the past few days here, and it's too wet to hike or anything. I'm hoping that will end soon.

I've got the baking urge too - very badly. Must do something about that.

*sigh* What I really want to do is snuggle up with my bf and some hot cider and do something silly like read children's books aloud to each other on a rainy afternoon like this one. But since I'm here and he's in California, that's not an option for a few weeks.

I am all for the goodies you two are preparing!!! Got anything sugar free?

I am feeling especially spirited this year...so many new things happening. There are also a couple of things in our lives that are ending...sad, but in a good way. We are letting go of some things and opening up room for newer things.

I have the urge to light a fire in the fire place...but it is just too hot right now. I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving this year. We will be having our baby on the 25th...the monday before Thanksgiving and then we are celebrating with the family on Saturday. They are bringing us dinner...who could ask for a better Thanksgiving?

Another good thing is that my brother and his wife and children are moving back to Oklahoma from St. Louis. It is a leap of faith for them...quitting good jobs just to take a chance and be closer to family. So this is a year full of new births. I can't imagine a more perfect time of year for all of these things to be happening. To look at the beautiful leaves falling all around and see that, yes things do die, but it isn't always a bad thing and it almost always makes room for something even more grand.

My homemade biscuits are sugar free, Semele, and yummy. if you need sweet you can add some honey or sugar free jam.

I can make an apple pie with honey too, if you can eat that :)

*passes Semele a plate of virtual biscuits and a cup of steaming tea*

Oh, fall. The crisp air, the turning of the leaves.
The grey afternoons and the cold mornings.
Snugging down in sweaters too big and
under fluffy blankets on cold nights.

Then dressing up and running out in the night!

Fall!

Fall is the absolute best time for horseback riding.
The cool wind a blowing puts a spirit back into the horses that the summer sun melted away.

I miss the classic fall, cool and crisp...*sighs*

Here it is cooling down to the 90's and we are already seeing the flowers begin to bloom again, and the birds are more cheerful from recent but very brief rains. As the temperatures drop in the evenings we begin to come back outside for our entertainments. The sidewake cafe's are filling, the scent of coffee, food, flowers fill the air, music drifts thru the evening dusk. It isn't fall so much as a second spring...but we gladly greet it.

There's something in the air....
My friends and I have all noted that in the fall, we all tend to do more rituals, call or see each other more often, and our senses and abilities seem to sharpen a bit...
Does anyone else experience this?

I definately feel something in the air.
It's odd with me, up until Samhain, I'm very excited, and all I feel like doing is wandering around, getting in touch with myself, the earth, and everything else more. After that, I seem to go dormant and just want to hibernate until spring starts to make itself known again.

I'm always so fresh in autumn. It seems that I shed an old skin.. like I'm beginning a new life rather than in spring. Autumn seems to give me more of a push than spring.. the air is more crisp and clear.. a spice in the air of fallen leaves..

I tend to do more ritual and be more active in the fall. It's not the muggy coolness of spring, the heat of summer, nor the freezing weather of winter.. it's autumn. Perfect.

I cant help it, every time I see this I think of a soap opera title.

ok...

the best part of this season is the crisp, but not yet cold air, and
the colors of the trees. (I live in the country. sorta)
