In Anne Moura's "Green Witchcraft" there is a ritual for a companion quest, it warns that this will invite the energy into your life and to be ready for manifestation of it. I am just wondering if anyone here has tried it? What were the results?

No, I am not familiar with the companion request, Greta. Have you tried it yet? If so, let me know how it goes. I can sure do with some good energy in my life. Were there any more warnings about doing this request?

Never heard of it, but it sounds very interesting...

No I haven't tried it yet. I was hoping that someone had and maybe could tell me more before I jumped into anything, I really have to think it through.
BTW it is in the "Green Witchcraft II, balancing light and shadow".
She says that it should only be used if you are comfortable in your mind and heart of dealing with Other people, and goes on to say that you must have a fair amount of strength for this, or you will pine away to be in the Otherworld.
Elsewhere in the book she also mentions being strong enough to deal with things going bump in the night due to this contact.
I thought I would see how others felt about it if they had tried it. If it was scary or comforting and such.

I'm no stranger to the Other people.. nor the Otherworld. I suppose I could go home tonight and give it a go.. ;)
Once I'm done I'll let you know how it goes. Things that go bump in the day scare me more than things that go bump in the night! You at least have some *ideas* about what's bumping in the night.

So did you try this out, Loki? I am wondering how things went.
Well, Greta, I think that members in Magick and Rituals might know more about the companion request. I'll move the thread there too.

I haven't read the Green Witchcraft books yet, they always seem to be checked out of our library. Loki, I'd like to know how it goes also.

I didn't do the "quest" tho I had a look at it and it strikes me that if you plan to do it a) make sure to do the cleansing beforehand and afterwards and b) I really would do some banishing afterwards. Do be sure to do this within a protective circle and be careful; you never know if the entity that does come through will be positive and helpful.

I did it! I did the Companion Quest! :D
It was... different! Fun, of course, but different. I did the nocturnal bath before hand and it was wonderful! I didn't have some of the herbs, so I subbed. ;) I burned lavendar because it felt more right than patchouli for the bath. I put the herbs in an old washcloth and tied it off, letting it soak in the hot water like tea... then I climbed in and used the cloth to wash off. :)
I do have a black mirror (was a gift) but I used a blue candle. I don't have grey, was gonna use universal white, but blue felt better to me to use.
I did see the forest, hear the brook, see the deer, see the mist and will-o-wisps a-fluttering. I did see the Guest come through to sit on the floor with me. Didn't use the table and chairs.. used a collapsed cardboard box with a cloth over it on the floor. For the vessles of milk and petals I used sea shells.
Needless to say.. it worked. I know I should have grounded afterwards, but I felt no need to. My Companion is an old friend from my first life in the Otherworld.. I almost cried when I saw her... We had the Irish Breakfast Tea (might be allergic to some of the herbs in the Faery Tea) and choco-chip banana bread my mom made for me. :) She loved it! I went outside and got a pink rose and plucked off the petals, laying them one inside the other until I had the largest to the smallest.. then I poured some tea over them like the book said to.
All in all.. it was worth it. :D:D I got to see an OLD friend from a long long long long time ago... it was great fun! I even got to see some of the old friends I had behind her. They were crowding into the black mirror to wave. LOL
So.. there you have it! Off to eat my pizza and tea and choco-chip banana bread...

Do you mean you should've grounded after or you should've done banishing work? Not that it really matters but I'm curious.

Loki, I am glad to hear that this has been a positive experience for you, Please keep me updated on how she manifests in your life on a permanent basis, where and when she pops up etc.
I'm so glad that you know you have someone on your side now! You know you had us all along :)

The scene you described gave me goosebumps as it is very similar to the very first journey I experienced where I met one of my guides. I'm glad that it was a positive experience for you, and as Greta said, please keep us updated as to what occurs in your life related to this.
I'm bad about grounding after ritual also, I often don't feel the need to but everything I've read says that it's very important to do so. But maybe you grounded without realizing it when you shared food with her.

I thought about grounding and I just didn't feel the need to. I might have when we had the "cakes and ale" part of the ceremony. She seemed kind of "roll-eyes" about the reading out of the book.. being all formal and stuff about it. It was funny.
She said I could tell you all her name.. and it's Sheinara (shay-NA-rah). She's got fiery-red hair and a bright personality. I think what happened was that she was the first to the black mirror.. so the first to be able to be my Companion. As I said, there were tons of Fae behind her all smashing themselves to wave through the glass. I about busted up! There was a blonde boy with long hair and purple eyes.. he had died a long time ago (back in my first life) in a war.. stabbed in the back.. but he's alive! You don't know how happy that makes me. He had died protecting me... and thought he'd failed. But here I am! lol
I'll be sure to keep you all updated on the happenings of me and my Companion. I saw a few pouting faces behind her and she looked out of breath and glowing with joy. I'm glad to have found her.
As for the banishing part.. I felt no need at all to do some banishing. When it comes to Fae.. I never feel the need to banish them. I've felt the need to banish energy before, just not with Fae energy. And this time was no exception. I wanted to keep the energy she'd given me and I went to bed that night knowing I'd sleep well. I did, too! But I'm tired again (as usual).
According to the book, I'm supposed to have a crystal heading my way as a mirror to Otherworld so I can see her through it and talk to her through it. I can't wait until I find that crystal, but right now I feel no need for it. It would just be a nice focus point for later.
Well, she's here at work with me (yay!) and I'll post up some convos with her on the Altar of Ancients board.. probably under "Conversations with Another" or something similar.. sounds like "Conversations with God." :D
Thanks for posting about the quest.. I had a blast!
