I have found some neat sites with a basic bath salt recipe and a few other neat bath things... thought I would share them.
www.cabbey.com/Crafts/bath.htm
www.ziggurat.org/soap/recipes.html
www.track0.com/canteach/elementary/recipe9.html
I have found a few others of interest as well, but they mostly just repeat the recipes.
I am off to the store to get some epsom salts...... :D

Reanna,
Thanks for posting those links. I've been looking for the strawberry freezer jam recipe. I have a garden full of the sweetest, reddest strawberries about to ripen, and I really wanted to make jam this year!

For a really decadent bath mixture, try adding powdered milk and/or ground cocoa butter.
If you're using dried herbs in your bath salt mix, you can make her a small cotton muslin bag. She can fill the cotton bag with your herbs & salt mixture, throw it into the bath, & not have to worry about cleaning bits of herbs from her tub after (or pick out bits of herbs out of her hair).
If you're using sea salt, white sea salt has been filtered & most of the minerals remove to get that nice whiteness. This salt is what you usually get in the fancy packages of expensive bath salts. Unrefined sea salt has a greyish or yellowish appearance. That's what you want. You can mix the course & fine sea salts together to get a nice texture. Dead sea salts are the best salts for detoxifing. All salts will do that but Dead Sea salts are the best as well as having lots of mineral goodies.

I just checked out that web site from cabby.com & don't use borax in your bath...not in that proportion anyway. If you get that in your eyes, it would REALLY hurt. Also, food colouring can stain vinyl tubs...especially red. And the minerals have been processed out of table salt, as well as chemicals have been added to keep it free flowing & from clumping in shakers.
Here's a great simple bath salt recipe...
1 part epsom salt
4 parts sea salts
Add in your fav herbs & essential oils & enjoy!
Silky milk bath...
add in 1 part baking soda, 2 tsp finely grounded cocoa butter, & 2 tbsp milk powder.

Glad I helped :D By the way.....*(drool....) strawberry jam sounds delightful..... ummmmm...nummmy... drool some more :D
Wildchild...
Thanks for the recipes and the info on borax! I almost used that in the recipe that I made a small batch of this weekend. Alas...the store was sold out, so I had to go with the other recipe.
Good thing too.
I am definitely going to check into purchasing some dead sea salt. I assume this is not something I am going to purchase at the local safeway... would I go to the health food store?
Thanks again everyone. I knew you all would come through! :D :D :D

I have found sea salt at the grocery store before but it's not common there. Most health food stores do carry it.

I have found regular sea salts in the bulk food sections of Save On but not dead sea salt. In order for it to be classified as dead sea salt, it has to come from the Dead Sea in Isreal. Dead sea salts has the highest mineral content. You can try health food stores & maybe some of the bigger places like Capers. I'm not sure how expensive it is there. Check out Cranberry Lane in Coquitlam.

Silly question coming....8O (sorry)
The recipe sounds wonderful. I am assuming that I add that combination of ess.oils to the pre-made salts. Yet does color:white.... mean that I don't add any coloring to the mixture?
Thanks for sharing the recipe. It sounds divine.

Thanks.
Cranberry Lane... I will see if I can sneak out that way this weekend. :D
