View Full Version : Man's Best Friend

A quick backstory for those that are unaware. The Military does not allow service members to "adopt" animals from foreign countries. However, this is a hard rule for members to swallow when deployed to countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

Americans are taught to value animals, to befriend and treat them well. In other countries, where animals can carry disease and be pesky, animals are abused and killed without a second thought.

Many soldiers will rescue an abused dog, and in essence 'adopt' them for the duration of this stay. The problem is, as we all know, that you get attached to the animals you save.

The link above is about a dog named Ratchet, a dog which has provided comfort and therapy to a soldier. Let us hope that he makes it to his new home without any more fuss.

I hope Ratchet makes it home soon - he looks like he's all sweetness.

What a sweetie!

There's a petition on Care2.com that has to do with this.

I don't know if it'll help, but I signed it.
