Hi All---

My name's Jen, and I'm new to Paganism, and feel such a draw to Mother Earth, and am reading all of these threads and enjoying learning. I'm 27 and am a Stay at Home Mum. Anyhow, I want to ask Santa for an indoor herb kit to get me started. Does anyone know what the best brands are? I know there is the Chia Herb Garden, but I was wondering if anyone has had a better time using anything else.
For me, I was raised Catholic, and for 22 years I was in Church every Saturday Night, so this is very new and different for me. I always felt like my place in this world was not in a Church chanting the same prayers weekly. I feel a draw to Gaia, and Hubs bought me the Millennial Gaia statue for Mother's Day. I just look at her and I see all that I want to reflect to others.

Anyhow, enough of my rambling. I am so glad to have found this board, and am looking forward to reading the Winter nights away learning:)

Burpee has great supplies and seeds. When I buy from them the plants grow healthy and strong. I'd recommending ordering online or signing up for their catalogue.

And a side note, they have an under-the-counter compost bin with a filter to eliminate smell. I've put kitchen scraps (anything without meat or fat) in there and just let it compost. Works great for balcony gardens. If you start it now, it may be ready for spring.

I've also seen a hydroponic herb device and kit at Bed Bath and Beyond which I've seen sucessfully used.

I have found the kits to be a bit expensive. I would go with the seed packets, pots and soil! The mix that Amora linked to looks good.

I prefer Seed Savers Exchange, Seeds of Change and Sand Hill Preservation Center (organic, no affiliation with Monsanto to my knowledge) but that's just personal preference. Seeds are pretty cheap so you can buy a whole packet even if you aren't going to plant them all. Just save the rest in the fridge for next year or find a friend to exchange with!
