So how is it with you? Do you laugh at superstitions? Do you dare to walk under ladders? Or maybe you're not superstitious cause it brings bad luck?

I might be. I don't believe in luck but I still do quirky little things that are sort of superstitious. Kind of.

I dont pay any attention to existing superstitions (black cats, broken mirrors etc) but I am more careful than usual when I inadvertantly invent my own. For example if everytime I wear a certain shirt I have a bad day I may start associating bad days with the shirt. Even if I only associate them jokingly I'm still increasing my chances of perpetuating my bad luck when I wear it. Unfortunately I'm not very good at ending those negative thoughts so I guess I am a little superstitous (even though I know its only psychological it doesnt make it less real).

I am a prejudiced superstition believer. Friday the 13th....BAH my lucky day, walk under a ladder...... duck, black cat crosses my path, every minute she can in the house, Never speak ill of the dead....... please why stop ragging them cause they died????

Now, I do believe you should never insult the faeries on Friday, because they are listening and will punish you in a horrible way.

Never walk backwards in or out of a stone dance, if you trod on the foot of a druid you will never walk the same again....

Always leave, for the forest folk, an offering when ye pratice your magick outside, twill increase your powers thricefold and protect your children's children.

Always sew 4 kernels of corn, one for the sparrow, one for the crow, one for the faerie folk and one to grow!

Now me:) . I wouldn't say that I believe that superstitions are meaningful, but somehow, subconsciously, I treat some of them seriously. For example in Poland there's a superstition that if you meet a chimney sweep on the street you should quickly hold some button in your hand, and you will have good luck all day. So when I do see a chimney sweep (which doesn't happen often) I look frantically for a button to hold:D .

And I also create my own superstitions, lucky sweaters and so on;) .

I voted for not superstious, but on Fri. the 13th.
Not because Friday the 13th is one of my superstions, but because, like some of you have said there are certain things.
Like....
I have a plastic bear claw tied to my saddle for luck (my oldest gave it to me years ago.)
The first time we broke 16 seconds on the barrel pattern was an extremely happy day for me. At the next race we went to, the leather string that held the tie down broke. I had another to fix it with, but the one that broke was tied onto the saddle.
I always wore the same cap to my softball games.
I never close a pocket knife that I didn't open.

But stuff like the ladder, and broken mirrors, and black cats?
Nope that don't bother me.

Ever heard this?
A horse with 4 white feet, send him far away.
A horse with 3 white feet keep him not a day.
A horse with 2 white feet, give him to a friend.
A horse with 1 white foot, keep him till the end.
But I don't hold with it. If I did, I wouldn't have any horses!

I have heard that horse thing before.

I guess I am superstitous.......to a point. But not any of the common ones. ladders, black cats, cracks in the sidewalk.
But I do knock on wood, and if I spill salt, duck, its comming!! ;)

What about open umbrellas in the house? Does that bother anyone? I only get worried about the things it could knock down or break. (my youngest is notorious for opening one in the house cuz it bugs his brother!!

I am not, I think its great to read up on them, but I do not take them to heart... I also like to hear the history behind them, mostly wives tales...
