SARGENT, Ga. – Would-be cleaners take note: A blowtorch is not a good substitute for a broom. Coweta County authorities said Galen Winchell set fire to his west Georgia home Wednesday as he cleaned cobwebs from exterior eaves with a blowtorch. Winchell noticed the blaze when he saw smoke pouring from the attic.

This just happened to a family friend...he was using the torch for weeds, started the garage on fire and he could not get out in time. And it was on his birthday to boot. Wifey was in the house getting ready for the b'day guest and saw the entire thing.

Years ago I had a cousin use a blowtorch to take the paint off the out side of his house & caught it on fire. But he got it out.
