I'm so nervous - I'm going to get my cards read in an hour. The reader is a very young 70 yrs old and has been reading almost that many years. And from what I understand, she's incredibly gifted. She's the next door neighbor of a very good friend (and my friend had never mentioned her until last week, can you believe it?) My life has been literally crumbling around me, so I'm really nervous about what the cards might say. I'm not "staking the farm" on the reading, just hoping for a little direction or insight to help me along the way.
Anyway- I was just sitting here being all nervous and watching the clock and wanted to tell someone.

That sounds wonderful! I'm excited for you!:boing:
Please let us know how it went.
And all the details, like how was the place set up? How many candles, inscense and what type? Stones? All the goodies.
(I'm a beginner and very interested.)

It wasn't what I expected. but I wasn't disappointed and I will be going back. I'm going to do a numerology chart for her.
a quick "synopsis" (I hope I spelled that right)-
first, she didn't use tarot cards. she used a regular deck of playing cards. Actually, I think it was partials of 2 decks put together to make one.
she had me shuffle the deck as many or as few times as I wanted. And about halfway through the reading, I shuffled them again.
sorry to disappoint, but there wasn't any inscence or music or anything. we just sat in her living room. her in a chair, me on the couch.
let me say now, i was skeptical because I wasn't sure how much information my friend might have put out there in passing. my friend has insisted that she hasn't said anything about me b/c she wanted to see how close to the mark my reading would be. now taking all that into consideration -
this lady definately has a gift. She definately knew about things that I've never discussed with anyone for personal reasons or even because they were trivial.
Here are a few examples of things she hit on:
health related:
I have a numb place on the side of my thigh. It's been that way for years but has recently started getting worse.
for the last couple of weeks I've been thirsty all the time, drinking alot of anything wet. Haven't said anything at all about this. She said my mouth had been dry lately, (it has) and told me I need to get checked for diabetes.
I'm pregnant but will not be able to continue the pregnancy b/c of health complications.
money:
I have been recv'g money unexpectedly and from a new source lately. I have a very generous aunt in Chicago I haven't seen since grade school. she recently inherited a very, very large sum. She has been sending money to me for a couple of months "to help me out" as she puts it. NOOONE knew about this. she said I'd be receiving my aunt's help for quite a long time to come.
personal:
she knew quite a bit about my marriage (or lack thereof) and the problems b/t my husband and I.
family:
she knew of trouble in my mom's place of employment.
pets:
she knew of the "soul/pet mate" connection b/t me and my red Mal, Abby.
Okay, I'll quit boring everyone now. The rest is either too trivial or too personal.
At the end of the reading, she told me to ask her anything I wanted and she would try to answer. Wouldn't you know it, I could only think of like two questions.
Overall, I was impressed with her accuracy and glad I went. And I do plan to go back. Please forgive me if I don't sound very enthused, I've just got a lot of things weighing on me right now.
Thank you for being interested and asking about my reading. It's cool to tell someone about it that isn't a skeptic.

Sometimes the best time to have a reading is when you ARE feeling skeptical- it makes you question everything.
I suppose what we all want to know is that eternal question- did she tell you what you wanted to know?
I was in Newport, RI this spring and for no real reason walked into a place offering cards and palms. It was a storefront done in purple, with some couches and a small room off one side where the daughter did the cards. They were tarot cards - Toth deck.
She had me shuffle them and make three wishes which I did not tell her. She did ask if I wanted the truth if she saw anything I might not like, which I did. I never told her I read cards myself.
First thing she did was launch into the most accurate description of my life with my partner of ten years who is now dead. She really went far beyond detail. Too accurate, in fact. { If was one of my questions.} She spoke at length and finally caught herself, asking if I hadn't also asked about something else. I decided to word it vaguely and asked about my 'writing'.
"Oh, yes" she replied - "your three books" ( I never said 'books' at all to her) she said that she had seen it but the other stuff was more important. She proceeded to tell me about my three books {also one of my questions} telling me which one was going to be hardest to write and which one was going to be most successful.
Then she told me about the man I had come into the shop with {my third question}.
She did ask" Is this book you're writing something to help people?" I replied, 'Yes, it's a book on how to read Tarot cards'.

did she tell me what I wanted to know?........
-it's weird really. I don't think there was anything specific I wanted to know. I think I was searching for a little peace that some of the events in my life as of late. kind of like the serenity prayer. does that make sense at all?
so did she tell me what I wanted to know? well, I haven't cried anymore since the reading. so I guess she did help me find what I was searching for. I hadn't really thought about it until you asked. -thanks.

Hey there baby cakes,
Just thought I'd add my two cents into your reasons for going to the reading. You can take it for what it's worth, but I want your load to be lighter. That's my motivation for writing this, and I may be wrong.
But if you just broaden your perspective a tiny bit things aren't always what they appear to be; in fact, nothing that you see is what it appears to be... probably never really. But that doesn't mean you can't "focus" the picture in your mind, now does it? You probably know what I'm saying already, but it's good to be refreshed now and again I think.
Check this out, think of the one year ago, and think of all the things that "weighed" you down back then. You can do this as far back as you want, but preferably go back to a time when you thought you had the most problems you've ever had, cool?
Now make a list of the biggest problems you can recall. Try to list them all if you can. Once you've done that, cross out all of your problems, that you listed from the past, that have been resolved. So, just mark a line through each problem that is not a problem anymore. Ok, maybe there are a few pesky problems that never seem to go away, but I'm sure there are some on the list that have been taken care of and are no longer on your list of "problems."
Ok, now think, again, back to the time before those problems were resolved
and all the stress and weight that you felt at that time. You might have thought that these problems would never go away or that they would have such an impact on your life that you would never again recover from their effect. But look back now into the present, those problems are gone. You solved them and you’re alright! Nothing bad really happened that you couldn’t handle.
Remember there are those who’s problems are much, much more tragic than yours. Think of what you have; most people on this planet don’t even possess those things that you have and that are wonderful. And I am not necessarily talking about material, lifeless objects, but aspects of who you are and the people you love that are in your life and who care about you. Many of these aspects of yourself you don’t even know exist yet. They need to be discovered and then developed. But if you broaden your view of Life, you will definitely allow those aspects to emerge, and they will surprise and delight you.
But back to where I was and to the point of this whole rambling, all these things that you think are weighing heavy on your soul are temporary. “This too shall soon pass…” (If I may quote that.) They will eventually be gone, but in the meanwhile look at the things you enjoy.

Someone who is impartial can really help us see the big picture when we get stuck in the daily morass of living, eh? My daughter and I were able to slip away without the children the weekend before last and go to a metaphyscial faire. We got there in time to get in on the half-price readings so we each had a reading done. One guy was doing "aura readings", he had a machine that takes photos of your aura and then he can tell you a lot from the images. I really wanted to do that, but his vibes felt wrong to me somehow. So we moved on down to the other end of the room.
All of the readers either made a tape recording of the session or gave the client a pen and paper to take notes. The reader my daughter stopped at had a set of headphones hanging around his neck and another pair lying on the table for the client. That way there was much less outside noise and distraction during the reading. I haven't listened to her tape to see if there is less background noise on it though.
I stopped at Gypsy's table. She didn't have a lot of stuff hanging up in the booth, no crystal balls on the table, just two decks of cards. A regular deck and an angel deck. She asked which I'd rather she used and I choose the angel deck as it's new for me. First she took hold of my hands to get in touch with my energies I think. She told me I have seven guardian angels around me. That reminded me of PhoenixBlue's lesson about having seven guardians. She said my grandmother was giving me a message. I asked which grandmother so she tried to get a name or initial. She says she isn't good at the names but she's very accurate with the messages they are passing on. It was hard to hear her, she wasn't very loud and background noise really messes with my hearing since I've gotten older. I haven't listened to that tape either, but reading this thread makes me want to listen tonight when the girls are asleep.
As we were walking outside to discuss our readings and get our composure back (my daughter's reading was VERY emotional), we saw my daughter's name on the chalk board in the registration room. We stopped and asked what that was for as she had already had her reading. They were drawing names every hour for a free reading and my daughter had won the free reading. And the reader was to be Gypsy! Well, there are no coincidences, eh? So I got to listen in on the reading Gypsy did for my daughter. She confirmed a few of the things that the first reader had told her and enlarged on some of the things she had told me, mostly about the business we are working on.
Funny thing was that Gypsy had several different decks out on the table when we went back for my daughter's reading. I guess the angels really did have a message for me, eh? ;)
