I am getting ready to write my own personal spell book and one thing I am a little confused on is finishing off the spell. There are different methods..

Tying components into a packet..putting under your pillow or bed.
Burying components.
Burning components and scattering to wind.

What types of spells would you end how. Also I've got earth, air and fire..were would water come in...not talking about the whole ritual.. I am talking about what you do with the components at the end.

Also say you used a red stone that you don't want to dispose.. what do you do with it. After everything is done and circle is closed do you remove it from altar and then cleanse it. Or wait a day or....

How about food offerings or dough coins as money offerings. What do you do with them and at what point....

I know all about corrispondences and invoking and thanking and offering but all this is something I have not been able to clear up.

I can jsut see it now. I do my spell.. Perfect ritual.. Got all the energy going, a perfectly poetic spell chant, the visuallization, all the appropriate components I could get my hands on, I remember to call all I intend to, invoked the proper deity(if necessary) and remember to thank everyone in the exact reverse order without leaving anyone out. I close the circle and center myself and I look down at my altar and see all this stuff and wonder..."Ugh, now what do I do with all this stuff?!"

:woah: Oh my goddess! I think I'm a bit too tired to reply right now!

Actually, I wrap up my spell according to the intent, if that helps. For instance, to banish negativity I will either burn up the ingredients or bury them far away from my house or toss them into a moving body of water.

If they are spells to bring something to me, I will usually bury them near my front door.

More later when I'm not dozing off.

Yep, what she said... :) ...and there's your answer about where water might come in (I go with flowing water to 'remove', & a body of water, such as a lake or pond, to 'bring')...

Also, you might consider trying simpler spells, using less 'ingredients', so to speak... hmm, now why do you suppose Rune magic comes to mind? :eyebrow: :2G:  OK, seriously, the simpler the working, the less there is that might go awry...

For your example of the red stone (or other tool you'll use again, such as a chalice, or wand, etc), cleanse it & keep it where you normally would...

As to the edible offerings, you can 'give' them... to the Earth, to the Fire or Water, to the birds or animals...

...or you can eat 'em... 8O

I burn things... I tend to write down my intentions, and burn them, and let the air carry my intentions to the Gods. I find that the simplest of spells work the best for me. Anything complicated, and my intention is clouded by my concentration on details of herbs, colours, times, moon phases...

...honestly, I'm not just lazy!!

Probably a good idea to do simpler stuff then, since correspondences are supposed to help you concentrate on what your intention is, not cloud it. :)
