How to write spells that will work, who the goddesses and gods are, how to make potions, how to get in touch with myslef...everything. Please...this isnt easy...and, how do i convince my dad to let me do this? Hes a stubborn one.

lol, I think you've asked a bigger question than you realise. The best thing to do would be to do a search on this community for the subjects you want to learn about.

Do a google search (or whatever search engine you prefer) and look for sites on witches\psychics\wiccans\pagans, so on. Just look up whatever you want.

Finally, with your father. If he's actually WORRIED that you might be sacrificing goats and such behind his back, explain to him what wicca\pagan religions are, earth-based religions, with no emphasis on sacrificing animals.

If he just thinks it's all crap, then tolerate it. I've got a father who thinks that everything to do with it is jsut dumb. But I tolerate his opinion (after a very strong image of punching his lights out) and just get on with it.

But because of his scepticism I don't even have an alter yet :(.

My general advice would just be tolerate his opinion. And if he won't let you practice it AT ALL, then just wait till you're 18.

Very good advice if you're under 18. I also suggest, checking out the links in the "beginner" stuck thread in this forum and the "suggested reading list" in the Book forum.

My best advice...read....read....read....read...and read some more.

Howdy  Welcome.... at the top of this section is a thread called "Preditors" Read it first, it will help you sort out things and help keep you safe. Then go to the book section, and read everyone's book recommendations, keep track of the common names they most recommend. You can use search engines to find info on them anywhere. I would also suggest avoiding the info written for teens, and go to the books that address witchcraft and not an age group as a more reliable choice for information.

Your Dad may never change his mind hon, he loves you, just deal kindly with him and others as you explore your path. It will all work out in the end as you grow and learn who you are and what you believe. Brightest Blessings.

Hello and Welcome to MW!

I agree in that if your father is adamant in not letting you practise no matter how much you explain it to him.... just lay low or don't practise until you're 18. Then again.. I'm no professional on this. ;)

Why wouldn't we belive it? :) this is a Pagan message board, after all. *smiles*

For me, with writing spells. . . First of all, I rarely if ever do so. I think I've written maybe one, and that was more of a grounding chant. :) I'm more of what you might call an intuitive (or maybe improvizational ;) ) mage. I do a lot of things intuitively, based on what I feel at that moment, what is going on, and where my instincts are leading me.

To get in touch with yourself. . . I would reccomend meditation. Writing in a journal, or writing down your dreams and thinking about what they mean to you.

As far as convincing your father. . . If he's really incredibly upset about this, perhaps stay "in the broom closet" for a while. Practicing more in secret. Or talk to your father. . .

and welcome to MW!! :)

Doohhhh I cant find that one! I know i have it arround here somewhere... however, while I look for the spell to create a completely understanding father, I would recommend the below.

1) Learn the ways of the old ones.
Ohh yee of natural witchiness. All the raw tallent in the world does not a cheff make. There for you must do as our brothers and sisters of hundred years back did and keep it in the shadows. Consider this a means of getting in touch with the repressed of our kind. They had the same problem too but while you may face grounding, our ancestors faced certain DEATH.. So make your sacred items comon. Make a Pen or Pencil your wand, a letter opener your athame and some of your jewelry with corresponding stones representations of the directions. You can have a full blown altar and no one would be the wiser.

But isnt this Lying? There are many things that are considered "wrong" and "right" and it usually encompasses the individual who could get hurt or helped in some way. For your parental figure it is the pain of you defying him in rebelion, or fear of you going down the "wrong" path based on what he thinks he knows and many more. Am I advising you to Lie?...no, but I am advising you to keep your spirituality private and personal for that is what it really is regardless of your age.

2) Patience is its own wisdom and power.
One who can out wait his or her oponent forces the oponent to make their move first thus allow you to react accordingly. You have time, make good use of it by reading, learning and wising up. You chose to ask in here about spells and such, when the internet is FILLED with such information. Some good, some bad but for you to find out. A good number of us on the path had to start out allone usually for many many years. In fact, no good teacher I know, will take a student who has not been under self study for many years. Use this time to explore the big questions; What are you here for, where will you go afterwords, whats the point of this path we call witchcraft, druidism, wicca etc...

3) Walk the walk but limit the talk
Learn the lessons of the north by saying less and meaning more. You can answer almost any question with few words, but I find that more words tend to get you in trouble. Find simple but good answers so that when your father comes asking you will be prepared to answer honestly without really divulging anything. (or in the south we call it "talking politics")

------
I came from a Catholic upbringing. Was an altar boy (untouched thank you), part of the youth group, went to Catholic Highschool and came out relatively unscathed and still having a respect for other religions including that which I was raised. And I used the above to help me on my way. Surely there is more advice out there but this should help a little.
