View Full Version : Second opinion?

I've only had my card deck for 3 days, and so far I've used them to answer a question just once and I got the answer I needed. Otherwise I've just been doing general/personal insight readings and they've all been very successful and made a lot of sense.
But this morning my entire reading threw me. It should probably be very simple to figure out, I was even helping a friend of mine with his reading and it wasn't all that hard to figure out. But this one is just a killer for me.
I did a general 3 card draw. I drew for the problem, the path to the solution, and the solution itself.
My outcome was:
1- The Knave of Chalises.
2. Temperance.
3. The High Priestess.
Then I drew another card to see if it would clear up my reading and I drew the Two of Swords. It didn't help too much. I tried thinking back to the other readings I've done the past 3 days and it doesn't make sense with any of them so I'm really not sure what to think.

This would be easier if you'd reveal the question ...
Without it, I get:
Problem - Knave of Chalices - Something with a lot of emotion tied up into it for you, and you really, really, REALLY want to act on it, just go for it, I mean, rush out of the gate, and just do it like the Nike commercials say ... but maybe that's not the way to go.
Path to Solution - Temperance - You need to approach this situation a lot more calmly and rationally than you want to.
Solution - High Priestess - The answer lies in being balanced and grounded, acting on the knowledge that you have, and doing so in an honorable way.
Clarification - Two of Swords - Well, here you go. Apparently you're stuck with making a decision and netiher of the options is particularly attractive, and you're also not able to see all of the information you need to choose wisely. And this whole issue is tearing you up ... you're stressing over this a lot, almost unable to make a decision for fear of making the wrong one.

While I'm not really one to question your desire for a second reading. I'd like to express my opinion if I could.
Our cards give us a reading for a purpose. We might not know the whole picture just yet and we really might not know OR like the answer we're getting. I rarely read cards for myself because I think that a lot of my psychic energy is pushing the cards towards an answer that I want anyway.
Card's rarely read wrong if you do them right, it's not like a diagnosis where you can go to a doctors to get a second opinion. Take your cards for what they've told you and the answers will reveall themselves when you're ready for them.
Just my two cents.

There was no question. I just wanted a general insight. All I did was pull the cards.

That's the thing, I couldn't figure out what the cards were telling me. The entire reading was obscure and confusing. They were saying different things completely unrelated to each other when I read and I couldn't figure out what they were saying as a whole.
Wolf---Thank you. That actually helps a lot. This reading just completely confused me but what you said sounds about right.

Glad I was able to offer some help! Everyone's perspective on readings differs. I often do work with a Circle and we'll do readings together to answer some question ... we'll look at each other's spreads and offer feedback to each other.
It is often difficult to read for yourself, especially when you're starting out. (trust me, it's hard sometimes even when you've been doing it for 33 years), so I commend you for asking others to look at the spread with you! Tarot is a very varied tool, and there are many ways to learn.
BTW, there may be nuances to your reading that are specific to the deck you're using, so it's helpful to post that information as well when you're asking for help.

I'll remember that. It was the Egyptian Tarot.

Egyptian Tarot ... that actually helps. I have that deck, and so I was able to pull the specific cards and see where the images lead me.
First thing I found out that I gave you some wrong information in terms of my interpretation ... for whatever reason I didn't equate "Knave" with "Page!" I am not sure why ... although my initial impression may still be correct ... some stuff I get from the cards, some stuff I just get nudged to say.
The image of the Knave of Chalices is a scribe ... and the sense that I have of him is that he's doing an awful lot of study and contemplation, not a lot of moving and doing (which is basically the opposite of what I gave you, which was more geared to "knight" than "knave"). There is a lot of focus and passion here. It's not passive contemplation or navel gazing you're doing. You're putting a lot of energy into this.
What I said about Temperence and the High Priestess stands as is.
The Two of Swords in this deck is very different from what you find in the Rider-Waite based decks. It shows the Crown of Ptah, and the LWB (that's an acronym for Little White Book, if you have not seen that used before) says it's about Tenderness, Friendship, and Protection. My knowledge of the Egyptian mythos is not sufficiently complete to know the stories associated with Ptah, other than he is the Creator-God, and preexisted the other Gods of the Egyptians. So he's kind of a first cause, generative energy, bringer into Being ... might represent a chance for a fresh start or to create your own success? (you know, that's also part of that just do it energy that I felt initially.)

So basically they're telling me to just stop and think about the problem at hand instead of jumping into it? That kind of makes sense. I just need to figure out what situation they're geared toward. :p

That's why I was hoping that you had a question to start with.
Sometimes how you frame the question really helps with the interpretation of the reading.
That being said, sometimes my question is "What do I need to know right now?" or "What do I need to work on spiritually now?"

If it counts for anything, I didn't ask a question, but my focus when I was reading my cards was for personal insight. I don't like asking questions. I just focus on what I want to know without asking a question.
