I want to become a Druid, but I don't know what to do. There are no internet-listed organizations in my area (Vancouver, BC) and all online teaching programs ask for lots of money. *Reminder that I am just a wee 14-year-old* How can I start embracing this faith? What can I do?

Hey there, Bombur. Keep in mind that I'm sixteen writing this, so I can relate. ::empathetic huggles::

First thing that comes to mind is the standard advice you're likely to hear from most people: follow your heart. You've obviously already felt like there's a possible calling in the path. If you open yourself up to that feeling it should be able to guide you to some ideas. Why are you interested in druidism and natural magics? I try to show myself that the things I'm interested in have an active role in the world. One great way to learn about nature is to volunteer your time at an animal shelter or head out to the gardens or some other place where you can see nature in action. Help pick up trash or something and the like. There's plenty of resources in books (and failing that, online) in regards to animals and their possible magical meanings. Do you agree with these meanings? A lot of people will tell you that the best way to find out about a path is to expirament with it, get to know it, and most importantly, discover how it feels to YOU.

I really hope this helps some!

Well first off there is a ton of information online about the druidic path. And no, not all of them ask for money. I have to think that you have atleast looked arround online befor asking for information. If not then I recommend doing a search on the below key phrases
RDNA Druid
Druid
order ovate bards druid

These will atleast point you in the direction. The first thing you would have to learn is that there are no teachers in the beginning. There is only you. If you are motivated to learn, you will learn on your own first. Being a druid has nothing to do about a faith as it is a way of life. Its about asking questions of yourself and seeking the answers. Its also about not just taking someone elses word at face value (including my own).

The delema that you will find yourself in is that no teacher will take on a student under legal age, and I would not trust a teach who would. However, this is the path I took and many many other beginning neopagans take and that is the path of self discovery and self learning. And when the time is right, the teacher will be there.

Get online, search, dig, read. Its out there and its not very deep you just have to put in the work.

In love and light...

Bombur_Green, I'm a bit late to welcome you to Mystic Wicks. There are groups of druids in Vancouver and as someone had mentioned already, your age may be a concern. May I suggest phoning some of the pagan/new age bookstores & asking them for local organizations? You can try Banyen Books on Broadway. They're usually pretty helpful.

Thanks so much! I'll try that next weekend (exams this week). The only pagan-related store I've been able to find is Dragon.... in Granville Island (which I haven't been able to visit). Really, the biggest pagan section I've been to is Chapters!

Heh! In that case, you're really going to love Banyen Books. :)
