So, I leave here in about a half hour for my first post-op appointment for the broken wrist/arm.
Very nervous!!!
Today I find out if the bones are lined up and healing as should be, or if I am going to have to have a second surgery. Ortho doctor explained that sometimes bones attempt to migrate back to positions they aren't supposed to be in....but first surgery included the placing of pins in my wrist/arm to hold things in place.....dearly hope pins have succeeded at holding bones in place.
Fingers crossed.......

When: Two days after moving into my new apartment (two weeks ago).
What: Simply walking to my apartment door, I slipped on the pavement. There was no sensdation of slipping, or falling...just walking and then down. It was about 11:30 on a Friday night so I went to the ER that night just to have it set. I broke both arm bones right at my wrist....and normally those two arm bones are fused together at your wrist...well mine had separated, so I apparently broke the bones vertically as ell as horizontally.
At the ER, at Urgent Care (where I went the following Monday to get the ortho referral since I hadn't seen my regular physician before....had recently switched doctors) and the Ortho doctor all started out with "Wow" when they viewed the x-rays. It is apparently a really impressive break to those in the medical profession.
Well, my ride to the doctor should be here any minute. I will calmly keep thinking "no more surgery." Calmly.....

Thank you all for the warm wishes. **Hugs**
So far, so good. Yesterday's x-rays showed the bones were lined up and the doctor thinks I will be free from any further surgery. I now have a regular cast on my arm (I chose the color purple because I find that it calms my nerves). Next week I go back for another check-up, and as long as those x-rays show that the bones have contined NOT to move around, I'll be officially on my way to a normal recovery.
I had never experinced any type of broken bone before, so this is all pretty scary for me. Somehow, I'm guessing this experince will make me stronger in some way.
