Has anyone got any good or tried-and-true directions on how to batik, possibly with a design? I would love to do this with the kids over the break from school. I can tie dye anything, even the most difficult of designs but I have never tried to batik. I find I do best with good directions when I begin a craft, usually from a person not just a book and I know no one who has done batik since the early 70's! Thanks.

Batiking isn't really something anyone can tell you in one paragraph. There's lots of steps and trouble-shooting to it. I recommend picking up a good "how to" book on Batik at your public library. When I do textile design, I take out a book on what method I'm using first - had to many "oopsies" in the past with dyes and resists. :foopsies:

Blessings and have fun with the kiddies!

Hey the library is a great idea! I never think of going to the library, seriously! I tend to be allergic to many old books. But I bet they have some books there that would cover batik. Thanks for the idea.
