View Full Version : Goddess and God Likeness?

Are there any laws written somewhere (lol) that say that if you do the dual goddess/god "thing" that they have to be similiar?
Why i'm asking this is because I speak to Rhiannon and The Green Man as my respective duo. I see Her as her darker self, the goddess of the underwold...The Green Man has been "my" god figure forever...
Recently, i've been seeing things about Gaia whereever i look...unexpected places...Rhiannon is still very prominent in my eyes and in my beliefs, so i know that she's still there...
But, since Gaia has more in common (or so i've read thus far) with TGM, should i be considering a new goddess?
Thanks for any help...
Blessed be!

IMO and IME all the Gods/esses have something to teach us. I think when a new one enters our field of awareness it's because we have progressed and are ready to learn something new. This doesn't mean we leave behind where we have come from or the foundation that got us here. It just means that we're ready to open up to a new aspect of life and of ourselves and build upon our foundation.

I personally believe that you can work with multiple Gods/Goddess. However, if you feel it is necessary for you to work only with one each, then make sure you thank Rhiannon for all her guidance and teachings before you move onto the next step of your path. I don't be surprised if you end up working with her again in the future. Maybe Gaia only has a specific lesson for you and after that you'll move back to Rhiannon or onto a new Goddess entirely.
As for similarity between your Patrons...no, they do not have to be anything alike. Sometimes we need two very different aspects of the Divine to teach us so that we might become more complete peope. For instance, I know one person who works with Eris and Horus. A Goddess of Chaos and a God of the Hunt and of Rulership/Justice. The only trouble comes when you have aspects that honestly can't get along together. I don't know anyone that works with both Osiris and Set, for instance, unless they worship the entire Eygptian pantheon...and even then I've never heard of both being invoke in the same ritual.
I hope that helps.

IMO if I were to do spell work or a ritual, I prefer to use Deity from the same pantheon and learning everything I can about them if I don't personally have a relationship with them. I only do this because I have had experiences where the mixing of the different pantheon energies can cause a little uneasiness. So I don it more out of comfortableness (is that even a word?-sorry). But as my Matron I have Morgana and my God at the moment is Ares. There was a time when it was Aphrodite and Ares, but I am now drawn to Morgana. I work with them everyday and I would have to agree with HetHert. We are here to learn and each pantheon or individual deity is there to teach us something, and as long as you feel a comfortable energy flow with the different pantheon deity, then they are probably okay with it as well.
Hope that all made sense :)
