I got bored playing around in photoshop, and decided to try something a bit different. Its based on a photo I took awhile back.

I think its pretty decent for my first attempt. I might try doing some other critters later.

With photoshop if the photo is on your computer I'd suggest putting the photo in a new layer under the painting. Set your painting to Opacity of about 40-50% and then basically outline the shading and highlights from the photo using the original photo undernith as a reference.

that's pretty much what I did... I just got overwhelmed with the whites in the bird, I think...

I think it was the whites that did it. Those are fantastic!!

Oh yeah! Another tip. If you go into effects, blur and choose gaussian blur you can smooth out those lines around your birds making the picture look a bit more finished. :cutie:
