The Night before Ra-Mes!
Tis the night before Ra-Mes and Nut’s body glow’d
All the Netru are shining above and below
Their purpose is what they wish you to know
So into our barque and away we go.
We fly from the Nile above to the sky
On through the Paut of the star spangl’d nigh’.
Through the heavens our brothers and sisters we meet
Here comes the first just look to the east.
Osiris comes forth in a flash and a burst.
"Whatever it is", he says, "I’ll lead you there first.
Follow me I know where we all need to go."
His energy spark awakens seeds to grow.
HetHert looks over in her languid respite
Come sit with me in the grass, flowers and light
Music and dancing and ritual mirth
infuses prosperity all over the earth.
Oh wise Tehuti is next to reveal
How communication of ideas is really ideal
It’s important, he teaches, to know the symbols of life
Learn them and know them and gesture them right.
Next Lady NebtHet comes mysteriously forth
Her domain is the shadow, maternal, and hearth
She teaches the mysteries of nurturing growth
Feeding it, loving it then letting it flow.
Oh Lord Heru noblest Golden one
On center stage belongs this glorious Son.
Lead with authority, pride, and delight
Shine on the world your talents so bright
Geb the Goose welcomes you into his sign
purity and order of body and mind
Medicinal herbs and organization of time
brings you closer to enhance your divine.
Auset, magical consort to Asar,
harmonizes opposites in her time of year.
Balancing and working forces opposed
Bears the fruits of this magical lady who knows
Anpu comes forth readily spied
His gift is to teach us of the worlds he divides.
Walking through corridors rending the veils
Where matter falls away and spirits do wail.
Sekhmet rises next to be view’d.
Her purifying fires burn away the refuse.
Leaving behind a spirit ready to learn
Of the highest commandments that inside us yearn.
Set, Strong and brooding opens an eye
The desert regions are what he personifies
Fixation and corruption are just as key
to understanding the cycles of eternity.
Ma’at the bringer of order divine,
making right the balance from chaotic times.
Her feather of truth a symbol of light
pouring down upon us, revealing what’s right.
Nut with the waters of her celestial womb,
Gestates and nurtures our cosmic renewal
Her body outstretched from tips to toes
Are the points where the Alpha and Omega are known.
It is now the hour for a wonderous site!
The morning of a birth noble and right;
Still new and weak and making his way,
Ra the sun comes forth from Nut’s body this day.
His birth, it heralds the light’s great return
For his light is eternal and eternal it burns.
Hail Ra in the morning, noon and at night,
Come forth from Nut’s body and bring back the light!
Breathe deep and breathe well upon waking you know
A new cycle upon us more chances to grow
Look through your past, think of the future to come
And let what you do in the present be blessed by the sun.
