Simple answer...at least to begin this conversation...
Telepathy occurs by building psychic resonance...IMO , IMK , IME

Telepathy doesn't work at all.

I too believe that it is sensing energies...different frequencies...knowing what your own is...and being able to separate yourself from the energies coming in....so they are "lets say more pure" none of our own stuff mixed in.....and then being able to "KNOW" what the frequencies ARE and MEAN:boing:

I'd be interested to hear what psychic resonance and energy is.

I am sure you would...
However , we both can deduct , from our past interactions ,
the high possibility of disagreement concerning those terms...
You could possibly appreciate my position , due to the nature
of the word "is" , as written of by this gentleman...

Since this , or any terms used , would interpreted through our
individual lenses , I don't feel to waste my "energy" , ...:bigredgri...
involving myself in such a discussion with you...
No disrespect...I do enjoy , at times , Infinite Grey , your very
astute positions , from the rationalist and scientific perspective...
I just feel like spending my time otherwise...:uhhuhuh:
Thanks for the invite , though !

From what I understand, resonance is an objectively measurable vibration detectable in every object and being. Pluck a guitar string, or flick a glass, and you get the idea. All objects that can be touched have such a vibration.
The "psychic" vibration is supposed to be something similar: our psyches are supposed to emanate waves as well, that can be synchronised like audio and light waves. We can detect brain activity using MRIs for instance. It has not been proven that humans can do the same... but it has been proven that humans can influence their own brain activity.
And energy is just that... energy.

As far as I can tell it doesn't.
<_<
lol!
I don't doubt the possibility, but I've seen next to nothing that makes me want to believe in it. :/

Well I don't really have any choice but to believe it since I have experienced it. You have a good point though; it's not always a good thing. For me it seems to be an extension of empathy but when it becomes actual telepathy (knowing another persons thoughts word for word, so to speak) it is very often in circumstances where I really don't want to know.
As for how it works, my theories are exactly between Shawn and Iggy, or a mixture of the two. I think Shawn is right but I do like to look for scientific explanations for things. I don't think that the spiritual world and the scientific world are two separate entities, I think they just speak different languages. And science is limited to a large degree by what is already known and can be proved by mathematics and experiment.
My view is that we are far more than just the physical bodies we can see. I think that in some way our minds or spirits are permanently linked to everything else in the universe but for some reason we are not usually aware of it. I think in cases of empathy and telepathy the veil is lifted and we become more aware of other people that we 'ressonate with' as Shawn might say. I am fairly sure that in time fields of study such as quantam theory and superstring threory will provide explanations for many 'supernatural' phenomenon that scientists can live with.

That sounds like a rather good explanation to me. I'm not so good at influencing my own brain activity, but at times my Empathy makes it rather difficult to be around other people, especially unhappy ones. My ex could definately influence his brain activity, and thereby control some of his bodily functions. When he was in the hospital following his first heart attack, he was so bored with not being able to do anything except lie flat on his back that he started doing what most people call "biofeedback". He would slow his respiration and his heart rate and the nurse monitoring these things would come running, thinking he was having another heart attack. Yeah, very amusing.
Now if I could combine telepathy with empathy (and I think they are very similar, maybe just variations on a single ability) I might actually be able to tell what was making the other person unhappy. But do I really want to know that?

I found this.....
Telepathic abilities are about connecting frequency. It is like turning on a radio and finding the right station. You just have to know how to 'tune in' and the frequency of the program. For a few people this skill comes easy - but on the norm - telepathy is never developed though many people try. Different meditation techniques and learning to focus the mind are the key. The more you practice the better you get.
Once you open the door to telepathy - it should work like a light switch. You can turn it off - tune off - or turn it on by focusing your thoughts. Rarely does one find that they are bombarded by the thoughts of others all the time. It would drive you crazy.

in my limited experience...knowing comes in visions....hearing or feelings
