Eartha Kitt died in the wee hours of the morning this morning. She will be mourned.

Eartha Kitt, the American singer, dancer, actress and self-professed "sex-kitten" who has died aged 81, was one of the most remarkable and distinctive entertainers in the history of cabaret and the light musical stage.

Although she played Helen of Troy for Orson Welles (who declared her "the most exciting woman in the world") and in stage plays, films and television programmes, it was as a chanteuse in revue or musical comedy or on records that the peculiar and brilliantly controlled vibrato of her voice, now purring, now growling, always sensually arousing, won greatest admiration.

And my article on her beautiful life here (http://strangemilagros.wordpress.com/2008/12/26/santa-baby-chanteuse-dies-on-christmas-day).

I love Eartha Kitt. Ernest Scared Stupid although a enjoyable movie for sure (I like Ernest) is a sad example of how incredible she was. I have six or seven of her albums. I even sing the songs in French with her.

I loved/love her. If you haven't heard her sing...download some, or I'll send you some.

RIP Eartha

Don't know a whole lot about her, but sure like what I do know. I hope her transition is blessed.
