No, I don't mean *the craft* ;) I mean arts and crafts. The Church of Craft can be found in NYC, San Francisco and LA, and on the web at http://www.churchofcraft.org . It was founded by Callie Janoff and Trismegista Taylor who are ministers of the Universal Life Church. They have a very anti-capitalist message, but the basic idea is that crafting (knitting, sewing, drawing, painting, writing, anything creative) is a spiritual process that brings us together and shapes how we relate to ourselves and one another. They focus on the creative process itself, rather than the end product and believe that making things empowers us as opposed to consuming which is dehumanizing.
They meet once a month, the second Sunday of every month and just sit around and create. The website even has instructions on how to start your own Church of Craft. I wasn't sure if I should put this here or in Arts and Crafts but what I really want to know is your thoughts and opinions on creativity being a spiritual process. Is it for you and how? What do you think of this as a "church?"
