Here is a bulletin they sent on MS. yes.. I friended them.. we all know I am a geek:ghostie:
2 more years of Ghost Hunters and more!! Body: In case you have not heard.
Ghost Hunters/ TAPS was ordered for a 5th season which will start airing in March of 2009.
Now thats not the newest news.
The most recent news is that Ghost Hunters/TAPS was already ordered for 6th season airing in 2010.
That is right, you heard it correctly.
2 More years of TAPS doing what we love to do.
Also Ghost Hunters International will return for a 2nd season as well with our friends Rob, Dustin and Barry, also another TAPS member will be showing his face on upcoming episodes.
Also we are working on another show that we will be airing that is another spin off of Ghost Hunters.
The new show right now is being called Ghost Hunters: New Generation.
There will be 6 episodes of this show to start.
We are putting Steve and Tango heading it up. they will training students who will accompany them on paranormal investigations.
Now no worries!
Ghost Hunters is not being replaced, it is just another spin off.
Also Steve and Tango will also still be on the original Ghost Hunters as well.
We look forward to being around for more years to come. Thanks for everyones loyalty and support.
We could not have done this without you all!
Please spread the word!

You know the fad has reached the beginning of the end once they start spinning off like crazy. When TLC's highly successful "Trading Spaces" spun off shows like "Trading Spaces: Family" and "Trading Spaces: Boy Vs Girls", the show's ratings really began to plummet due to overexposure (not to mention both spin offs were short lived!). And that's to say nothing about the fact that there are other ghost hunting shows on just about every cable channel these days: A&E's "Paranormal State", Travel Channel's "Ghost Adventures" (which also plays reruns of "Most Haunted"), Biography Channel's "Dead Famous", Court TV's "Haunting Evidence", "Rescue Mediums" on WE, "Psychic Kids" on A&E (which also does ghost hunts), etc. At some point even the most devout paranormal TV buff will reach critical overload.
Now, I won't get into TAPS' apparent faking of evidence (as there's a whole other thread on that), but even with that aside, the show has gotten really, really dull this last season. In the first few seasons, when the show was fresh, you never really knew what to expect. They would mix up ALL the investigators and a lot of times they wouldn't find anything and when they did, it felt like something special. But now it's the same thing each week: Jason and Grant go on their own, they have a K2 session with some spirit and/or have some amazing experience by themselves (ALWAYS those two - how come no one else in the group seems to have these incredible things happen to them anymore?), Steve plays a trick on Tango, Kris gets sent in somewhere by herself and Joe Chen and Krysten get minimal exposure (and if they're lucky, they may hear a knock or something). All that just about describes every episode this season. And unless they shake the show up (or continue to lose ground to the more daring "Ghost Adventures" crew), I may have just saved you guys from having to sit through more of the same for two more seasons. :tongueout

Dang it! I just started watching Ghost Hunters 6 months ago. What a time to temporarily cancel my cable.
I know there is alot of controversy about the show. But I'm slow to detail and I want to see if I can actually catch Grant hoaxing without hearing it from someone else first. I also don't watch it just to see a ghost caight on film. I have seen so many evidence that it just doesn't interest me as much anymore. unless they actually catch a full out apparition that is not faked. But I just find the the drama of the team quite entertaining. You just don't see the kind of friction between team members in other ghost hunting shows. I also like it when Jason debunks paranormal claim. I now not to place chemicles close to air ducks.

Because of my recent rants on this forum (as well as some paranormal ones I peruse) I have been accused of NOT being a fan of the show (or of just being a plain cynic, which is a moot point as I am a believer in the paranormal). For the first two and a half seasons on "Ghost Hunters", I looked forward to each and every Wednesday night the show was on. In fact, GH was the only show in recent memory that I suffered through commercials rather than wait and watch it on TiVo, simply because I was too jazzed to see it. What I liked about it early on was that the people from TAPS felt like working class "average joes" (notice I didn't say "Joe the Plumber". LOL) who could be your next door neighbors. I bought into the whole notion that these guys had a sense of integrity and were committed to the field of paranormal research.
Without even getting into the apparent hoaxing that's been taking place, look at the show now compared to how it all started and you'll see the differences are monumental! When it first premiered it played like an ordinary reality show by showcasing Jason & Grant at home spending time with their families (going bowling, barbecuing in the back yard, etc), all while working the whole ghost hunting thing out of a trailer in Jason's back yard. Because the show allowed you to delve a little deeper into their real lives, you cared, for example, when they were separated from their families for long period and the strain it was putting on them was becoming visible. See, the show wasn't just about chasing ghosts but was also about the people who chase them and the sacrifices they make.
And let's be honest, one of the major reasons a lot of that got jettisoned was because of all the drama surrounding Brian, which proved to be a big distraction and was a constant gripe among the fans of the show (which I was one of them). That can't all be blamed on Brian though, as they had already begun to wean away some of the more personal stories on the show, particularly Jason's & Grant 's home life. And by late second season, Brian was pretty much the only one left that they were doing anything about and as a result it stuck out like a sore thumb. Once they did away with their personal lives entirely, the emphasis was now strictly on getting evidence of ghosts on tape and that's when, for me, the show became very rigid and formulaic - especially when you consider the show's popularity, at which point many producers tend to play it safe and not risk deviating from what they perceive as a winning formula (and it's that same "winning formula" that they're going to continue to run into the ground with these new spin-offs).
I'd like to say I'd be able to get back into the show again if they played around with the formula a little and changed a thing or two, like any other TV show where it feels the writing has gone stale (perhaps doing away with the obviously acted plugs for Roto-Rooter and just show Jason & Grant being themselves again would be a start). But sadly, now that it's become so obvious they're faking some of their findings, the damage is irreparable and I can never look at the show (or even any spin offs) the same way again. :awwman:

I hate TAPS. They are overrated and boring now.

I think the halloween special really killed it for them. I couldn't even watch the whole thing. i guess it would have better if I had the internet and was able to particapate.

For those who have missed the halloween live results I have it here. Along with my opinions. Because there is much contriversy surrounding the show, especially with Grant, I have now realized what all have been talking about thanks to youtube.
When they hear that loud voice saying "Your not supposed to be here" it really does sound like a recording. There is no pick up on tone or increase in agitation. Just a raspy low voice.
Then Jason goes off into a section of the tunnel for a few seconds then comes back saying he heard footsteps behind him. During that time that he heard footsteps you can see Grant take a couple steps back. Steve also says that it could have been a bat and you can actually see a bat whiz by the camera just before he says that.
Steve and those other 2 (can't remeber their names) wasted a bit of time when exploring the dungeons. When they are looking up at that archway they are clearly fussing a bat. They were flying everywhere.
LOL!!! O.k when Jason, Grant and that british guy were exploring the tunnels again, Steve said "When you want us to leave you just let us know. You gotta do something." Grant immedialty looked as though he got an idea and said back "Something!" Then right after Grant used his string trick. Is he secretly afraid of investigations and wants the team to collect enough evidence to get out of the locations A.S.A.P! He didn't even seem all that surprised when his coat got tug on or so he wants you to think.

I get a bit tired of them always explaining what their equipment is used for every episode.
I find it so funny that these people go into locations where there are old pipes and furnaces that are turned on and they can't explain that the clanking sounds bangs are from those very things. Especially when they are plumbers themselves. Of course they usually debunk them in other places. But when Steve is in those tunnels and debunks that hot spot, he hears a clanking noise. Duh, those heaters are on.
When the other 3 are sitting inthe room with that guy questions that groups investigating tactics I have to agree with him. It's not investigating when you just sit there waiting for a ghost to show up.
During the analysis, Steve sees the thermal of Grants collar during the string trick. You can clearly see that there was no hand grabbing it, and no change in temp. even though they say there is. That should have tipped them off. But of course, Grant is one of their bosses and who are they to deem them as frauds. That would make the F.I.R.E.D.

When they find that so called muttering after Kristine talks, i really don't hear voices. Just racket of some sorts. Do these guys just make it up?
When Grant sits there tries to explain the why his coat gets tugged on he says that if it were a wire, collar would be tugged down. Isn't that how it was tugged, though. I think that old guy is comming on to them.

I thinkthe biggest let down was that they had all that viewer participation with "Panic button" and what for. They team didn't look at the results of the viewer findings. It was rather confusing too.
