Hi guys. I got home from work today to find out that my doggie, Princess, ran away. But what makes it worse, she ran away while my Dad was in Virginia. She's lost somewhere down around Mathews Virginia. I'm so upset. I'm absolutely heartbroken. I've got a list of phone numbers to call in the AM. But I can't seem to find a picture of her to send out.

My poor little doggie is lost out there somewhere. She's probably cold, hungry, and scared. She may even be hurt. I just want her to come home. I'm hoping she still has her collar & tags and that someone will take the time to call us if they find her.

Just keep some good thoughts out there guys. If there's anyone in the Tidwater region here on MW, please PM me and I'll give you a description of her.

:wah: :wah: :wah: :wah:

I'm so sorry hon. I really hope you can find her. Meanwhile, try to get out your Dads' map, and figure out what route he would have needed to take to get back to NY, from where he was. Circle the area where you think your dog may have gone missing, and send that out, or at least tell people whom you call in the morning, with a picture of her, or at least, a very good description. Perhaps you can even find a picture of a dog who looks just like her online?

Her father brought the dog down to Virginia from NY while he's down there for a little bit. The dog ran away in unfamiliar territory around the Matthews, VA area.

Ldy honey, I'm so sorry. :( Find some pics of either your dog or another like Danu suggested.

I will of course keep good thoughts going and hope everything turns out ok. I'm here if you need me! ((((((((HUGS))))))))

I'm so sorry to hear that your dog is missing. Pets become so much a part of the family. I do hope she finds her way home, and that somehow she will be cared for while in unfamiliar places.

Dogs have a good sense of direction, I'm sure she'll turn up. Until she does, you'll be in my thoughts.

No phone calls at all, while I was away. :(

I can't find one picture of her that's recent. Everything else is of her when she was a puppy. Real little and all.

I talked with my brother earlier...he thinks something happened to her and no one wants to tell us.

*sigh*

Tommorrow morning I'm making more phone calls to the shelters. I'm TRYING not to give up hope...i just want her to come home.

I am so sorry LdyStarlite.
What kind of dog is Princess?
I belong to a few doggie rescue boards and will post for you if you can tell me everything about her and about where she was last at.

((((((((((((((((((YOU)))))))))))))))))))))))) don't give up sweetie! I've heard stories of animals returning to their owners MONTHS after being lost. I know that it's quite a distance between NY and VA, longer than the distance in this story, however, maybe it will cheer you.

John's Dog, when he was a child, Rocky, ran away here in our small town, Burrillville. Eight months later, he was driving around in a LARGE town, Woonsocket, and saw out of the corner of his eye, a dog who looked exactly like Rocky. He backed the car up..and said.."Here, Rocky, Here boy" And the dog RAN to his car, jumping in the open door, and started licking johns face like crazy. It WAS him. Still had the collar and all. Keep in mind, this town is like a half hour away, by car. And it's a BIG place. The town where we live, is extremely rural, there is alot of forestland he could have gotten lost in. And to get to woonsocket, unless he got a lift there, he'd have had to cut through tons of farms, forestlands, AND highways. So...you never know:) Miracles can happen :)

Keep in mind...Princess may simply be enjoying her freedom for a couple of days, and may be avoiding human contact, because she's feelin' a bit wild. If that's the case, she'll try to find human contact as soon as she gets hungry, or tired of the wild lifestyle :)

It's also possible that someone took her in. At times when my cat's have gone missing overnight, or for a few days, I've always said to myself..."I just REALLY hope that they found a good home". I still looked for them, and hoped for their return, however, as long as I could feel in my heart, that they were ok, I'd have been able to deal with it.

((((((((((((((((((YOU))))))))))))))))))))))) I hope someone contacts you soon, with some word on Princess.

Princess is a black lab/rotweiller mix. She's short & stocky, like a rottweiller. She's mainly all black, with white on her belly and chest, brown markings on her pays. She has floppy ears, her face is mainly like a lab's face, complete with floppy ears. She has a silver choke-style collar with her tags. Long tail. EXTREMELY friendly. Friendly to a fault sometimes. Playful. She was last seen on Highway 17 somewhere between Port Royal, VA and Fredericksburg, VA.

Thanks for your help Aurora.

I called a bunch of animal shelters and vets down there. And a few sherrifs and animal control places. Everyone said, they'll keep an eye out. I have to call my cousin again. Ask him to drive down to my dad's house there.

I have put the word out on a few boards and given permission to cross post to other boards that I am not a part of.

I had a cat that was missing for almost 8 months come home. I had always believed she had found a good home, helped me sleep better.
