I've been away for quite some time, but I'm finally back to the boards! I come back with a question though. After almost 5 years of studying and dedication I believe I am finally ready to do my initiation ritual. I was thinking a good time to do it would be on the eve of Samhain, I believe it would be a good way to start the Wiccan New Year. I was just wondering if the moon phase has to be specific for an initiation ritual....or if doing it on Samhain is a good idea.
Thanks for all your guys' input ahead of time!

There's no specific timing necessary at all - I did my dedication one night in mid May because it felt right at the time, I didn't even notice the moon phase or anything nor was I prepared.

Samhain is just a good time as any for this since it is the new year, though some do it around the sabbat the new God would be born in the year.

There are a few threads on initiation and dedication rituals you can search for, and if you need help let us know - I'm sure someone could bump them up or point you to them.

Timing is only important if you want it to be. The most important timing is the one that you feel.. not some phase of an asteroid.. not some retrograde of Mercury or something. ;)

Samhain would be lovely! And I think it would be the waning moon anyway.. since the full is on Oct 21. Anywho! Good luck with that!

I had my initiation last year.. I can post up the ritual if you like. :)

Sure, I would love to see what you did for your ritual. I'm of course planning on doing my own, but its always great to get some idea's!

Or course! ;) I had to make mine up on the fly on paper! No guides to go off of. 8O But it still came out okay.

I dedicated myself to Airmed and Pan.. then I changed to Loki and Demeter.. mebbe I'll do another one this Samhain on the 1 year anniversary.. Last year Samhain was a full moon. ;)
