Check in the New Pagan forum.
I believe there is some really good information there.

If you do a search you'll find lots of threads. I also had trouble with this and when I relaxed about it, things started happening. I couldn't visualize pictures. I continued to meditate and began seeing colors which gradually involved into pictures. I have even had a few unexpected visualizations that manifested. For instance, during one journey I saw brown, white and red feathers. A few weeks later I attended a ritual where someone had a smudge fan made of those exact feathers :)

work on simple things first...try visualizing a red apple...or a yellow banana...things with vivid color and a definite shape...helped me in the beginning

The easiest exercise is to start with a coloured shape (ie. blue circle). Stare at it, take in every part of it, close your eyes and visualize.
Do the same with a 3D shape.
A stone.
A fruit or veggie.
And so on. More complicated stuff over time - practice with the same object for a few days to a week, as you get more complicated use the same thing for longer then a week if you like until it's really easy to visualize. When you get visual visualization down, work in the texture and smell, etc.
There's always that game where you have a group of objects and someone takes one away - you memorize and visualize the group and then figure out what's missing.
Mostly this is a lot of practice rather then special techniques.
