Help Me Figure out this Rune

I found a pair of earrings today, each bearing this symbol. It seems runic to me, but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated, especially a description or something describing the meaning.

I researched it in a few books, finally finding it, and it said it stands for Female Wisdom, and the letter "M." Any thoughts on that?
