View Full Version : Reiki and attuning to different symbols

In his book The Magick of Reiki, Christopher Penczak talks about attuning to symbols other than the traditional Reiki ones.
I was thinking about this and am considering attuning myself to a couple of different symbols that aren't associated with Reiki.
Has anyone attuned themselves to a different type of symbol? Do you mind sharing which ones and why?

I was really hoping this thread would bring more information. I found this to be a very interesting thought. While surfing I found these:

Did you get anymore information??

You rock! I don't know why I didn't find those sooner. :) I knew it couldn't have been a new idea. Thanks. I glanced over most of it and I'll print it out and read it in depth when I can. I'll also show it to T & see what he thinks.

I had found THIS discussion that was started by Wolfscout about the @ symbol. I loved this idea but hadn't explored it any further.
Other symbols I think might work well are things like personal marks, other alphabets, maybe something like the recycling symbol. Food for thought. :)

During my second atunement, my reiki master called in Archangel Michael. (which scared the sh*t out of little pagan boy, but that's another story) Anyway, Michael gave me part of the energy from his sword in the atunement ceramony. So, getting to the point, I use a blue sword as a symbol when cutting people away from unhealthy attachments, etc.

That's a lovely image. :) I've heard a few other people say they call upon Michael & use sword imagery as well.

Nope, not a diamond like that. But Ren So May is sorta that shape, only not solid. It's 2 figure 8's crossing each other....
What have you found the diamond to be useful for, Hope?

I worked with what I thought was a diamond, but upon examining the figure in more detail, it turned out to be an octahedron. An octahedron is a solid that is actually two pyramids with their bases against each other, looking as if you had placed one pyramid on a mirror. Viewed from one direction, an octahedron can look like a diamond.
This shape can represent the macrocosm/microcosm concept, and I use it to represent harmony and synergy between all of the "bodies," physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Well to be honest I am NOT SURE, after a conversation with 1111 about "other symbols" - when I am working with healing Vanessa (infant with brain damage and a severe developmental disability) I see that shape. It seems solid, and is always a dark color, like a dark gray to an almost black color.
Odd for me because I do see color usually ..

hmm that is interesting, I have in all truth not spent a LOT of time studying the shape, more of a oh there is a diamond shape, and moving on.... something to think on.. thanks
