Amethys cluster! I love amethyst.. but never seem to remember to buy some when I have the funds! :T

It all depends on what you want to use it for, imo, if you should cleanse it or not.

what are some of the things i could use it for??? i've read a bit online.. that you can use it for spiritual growth.. or helping to charge your magical items...

hehe if I had it.. I'd just put it on display. ;)

If you plan on using it for magickal purposes, then yeah.. usually you cleanse those. ;)

I'd cleanse it.
I'd probably leave it on my altar in the moonlight & some cedar shavings.
But you could wash it rainwater.
Leave it in the sunlight.
Let it set on a bed of salt.

Amethyst can be used to cleanse tarot cards,
to help children who have nightmares sleep better,
to help adults get a good nights sleep,
and as a meditation tool.

I'm jealous. I LOVE amethyst. It's my favorite. Even though it's not my birthstone.

I let my crystals live on my altar.

Oh, I thought that was the name of a new member. Um, go crystals.

:D Whatever you do don't leave it in the sunlight too long. They fade (so do all colored quartzes, actually).

I grew up near Thunderbay on the border of the US and Canada and was given an amethyst piece from there to keep in my car. It isn't a pretty piece... but what it is for is to keep near the heart of my car...to warn me psychically of a pending accident. I have had it in every car since and have had no serious accidents! None so far....and I am over 50. Driven in just about every weather condition, and accross the county, city and county, mountain and desert. I would never give it up. It is right next to the stick shift or that area when I don't have a stick. I really believe it enhances the inner eye and psychic abilities....and helps with avoiding accidents. :)

Amethyst is also ideal for combatting depression - I personally would wash it in water - spring water if possible - then leave it out in the moonlight

It also helps to purify the blood and combat "drunkenness". :) It's actually a very good stone to give to people who have kidney or liver problems.

I use an amythest as a meditational tool. I find it helps with my psychic energy-raising and concentration. Often I will place it in my hands while I meditate and visualize indigo-coloured energies eminating throughout my body from the stone. I also place it on top of my Aleph-Bet cards before reading them and glance at it while interpreting the cards. It helps me a lot in the area of the "third-eye" as well. I keep it on my altar in front of my white protection candle. I like to do as was formentioned and set it out in the moonlight after washing it with spring water. =) Just some ideas you might consider! hehehe :)

I love amethyst. I had one "give it's life" for me when I was in an accident.

A friend of mine gave me the most wonderful sterling pendand of a goddess holding a crystal clear amethyst ball high up in her hands. I wore it 24/7 from the time she gave it to me.

Anyway, I was hit by a truck while crossing the street (no jokes, I've made them all! lol). I wasn't critical or anything and was actually able to go home after my trip to the hospital. It could've been sooooo much worse than it was.

When I got home and was changing, for some reason, I decided to take off the pendant to see if it was ok. Not a scratch on it and in fact it looked as good as new. However, the amethyst had suddenly become full included with "cracks" inside of the stone.

I knew that the energies that had been in it were no longer and I've never worn it since. Oh, I still have it, but I'll never wear it again.

This is a something that runs in my family as well. My mother has "blown" stones from rings she's been wearing while stressed or when something traumatic has happened.

My aunt...same thing.

It gets a bit harrowing for me sometimes. I collect rings with different stones in them. Everytime I get a new one, I always hold it and say, "please let this one stay with me."

With our track record I figure, it couldn't hurt right? :D

WC! I knew you had been in an accident. But am I reading this correctly - you weren't in a vehicle when you were hit?
I'm glad you had that amethyst with you at that time.

You read it right! I was walking home from work for my lunch break and while I was crossing the street, I was hit by a 4x4. I never went down. He hit the breaks in time and only my hands hit the truck itself. That's why I couldn't use them for almost 5 years. You guys are familiar with the back troubles I have--they said at the time that it was because I used (involuntarily of course) all of my strength in my back to stay upright. So even though that is permanent damage, the upside is, if I had gone down, I would've been dead if I had let myself go since the accident took place at the top of a hill. Besides, there's nothing more nerve-wracking for bystanders than to see a short person rolling down a hill!

Now, something happene last nite that goes right with what I was saying about my history with crystals giving their lives up for me. I was working a protection spell for some family members using my favortie quartz cluster. I figured, it needed the "big gun" for this spell.

While I was using it, it 'woke up' big time and now it practically hums. However, when I mentioned the person's name that has been causing all of the problems, a big piece of the cluster broke off in my hands!

This piece has been with me for quite a while and has worked many a spell with me. This has NEVER happened before with this piece. It is a rather large and beautiful cluster and I am really upset that it happened. Not to mention why. But it shows that it was time to work that magic and that the energies were sent out.

Got any crazy glue? :T

(Oh c'mon, you KNOW I'd never do that!!!)

This is off the topic of amethyst, but with regards to "blowing" crystals, I had an obsidian arrowhead I used to keep with me. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I think it took a blow for me because one morning during a difficult period in my life I found it shattered. Although the energy was gone from it, I nevertheless buried the pieces (in combinations with other stones) at some key points around the perimeter of my parent's house to protect their home.

Good idea Sovaan.
And WC - don't be sad.
I believe I'd use the little piece as a gift to someone who might be needing some extra enegy for a hard time in their life.:)

Oh, good idea.

I was thinking also that I might cleanse it at the full moon and the next time I make a candle, stick the piece in that for added UMPH!

(That of course is the technical term.) :T

I keep my amythest touching my rose quartz, as it enhances both stones and increases the loving vibrations in your home. Also I cleanse any new piece I get.......never know where it has been.

Namaste.

"Leave it in the sunlight."

Ametyst and sunlight usually dont mix very good, because Amethyst from most sources will lighten out in sunlight. Thjats why you should not leave your amethyst exposed to direct sunlight. For reachargingf of amethyst you can use clear crystalls, hematite, running water (dont waste our planet though!) and of course MOONlight

Where is your amethyst from ? (original country)

This determines, whether or not it will lighten in the sun very much or lesser.

I love Amethyst and there is a quite a few magical uses for it. What i do with amethyst is place it under my pillow at night to induce prophetic dreams. It also drives off insomnia and nightmares. Overall amethyst is a good stone to have, and i wish you luck with yours. ^_^

I love my amethyst clusters. I actually sit and stroke mine. I love the feeling of the crstal and the points as well as the rough stone on the outside. I use mine for calming, serenity, to help with meditation and treat my favorite pieces as old friends. Puire comfort and love.

Amethyst is simply amazing. I have a necklace made out of amethyst beads that I love and wear constantly. I recharge it by rinsing in warm water and keeping it overnight in a clear quartz cluster. Definitely keep it out of direct sunlight. And I like the idea of keeping your new cluster next to your bed. It should help with majickal dreaming and opening your third eye chakra.

Good luck!

Gabriel

thanks. so how do i wear it? like a charm necklace?

like a necklace would be great
or simply in a pouch/pocket

a tumbled stone would be very good, maybe even better than a rough one

and you should drink water with it

oooooh caution!!!!!

ask for natural smokey quartz and make sure it is NOT from arkansas
