So what exactly makes for a good reading?
And is it different if it is for yourself, or for another person?
Be specific, what are the things that make you say things like:
seriously? are you kidding me right now?
wow, just wow,
hmmmm
etc .. you get the idea!

A good reading, for me, is when a person doesn't give me much information beforehand, and then they tell me that I'm right on. And the same goes for when I receive a reading. I love it when someone tells me something that there is no way they could have known was going on. :)
Also, when giving a reading, a feeling that "ok, this is so far out in left field, but it feels right to say it" usually means it's gonna be a good one. :)

You are always so good to get us started!! thank you for that :)
And others chime in -- this is for all of us.
I agree Lisa - readers that want to ask me questions, make me want to slap them -- well and watch them wither as I refuse, and expect an actual reading. But heh I am not that nice lol
I also do NOT want to hear your version, before I read for you. Because if you really think you know all the parts and pieces why are you here?
I like validations, when I am getting a reading - to kinda check in and say see now pay attention!
(as 1111 can attest I do talk to myself and in my head often lol)
When I am reading for someone, honestly I just ground and go with what comes.
I have learned that a stoic person is just as likely to be trying to hold it all together, cause I touched on something - as they are to be trying to dismiss it as hocus pocus. I really try to have expectation that they will hear what they need, but not expectation on how or what.
whew that was a long answer!

if theres one thing ive learned in divination (and life in general), its that "good" is only temporary.
i just recently watched the new batman movie, "dark knight".
and the quote from the movie... (dunno if i have it right but its close)
"those who dont die a hero, live long enough to become a villian"
in retrospec and in much broader terms, that can be taken as truth in just about everything in life.
if that makes any sense to anyone.

When I'm reading for myself, a good result is one that makes sense in the context of the question. I've done plenty of readings where I didn't like the answer at all, but it was spot-on for what I'd asked. But then there are times when I just stare at the cards I've drawn and say, "Oh, what does that have to do with anything?!?"
Actually, the more I think about it, the more that's a good result no matter who I'm reading for. If I interpret the spread and they say, "Yeah, that makes sense," or, "Wow, you've given me a lot to think about," or even, "That's terrible! How could you say that to me???" then I know I'm on-target, because they're clearly reacting to what I've said. It makes sense to them. And when they interject in the middle of readings to tell me that what I'm saying is resonating with them somehow, then I'm in the bullseye.
The worst response I get is when the querent (other than myself, I read most often for my wife and mother, and they both do this) listens politely through my whole reading and then says, "Huh. OK. Thanks." Then I know it's not just something they disagree with. It's something that didn't hit them at all.

When reading, I don't like the info beforehand, but I do like lots of feedback.
When being read, I like when they have no information and then blow me away with details. Even the little ones. And I like it at the end when they say any questions, ummm, no you covered everything. :) Then I can just ask detailed questions about info they have covered.

Me too.
My best readings are off the cuff.
