Ooh I hate shopping for pants. I have to get the low rise kind (below belly button) I swear if I have something around my waist, I fell nauseated. I have one pair of decent blue jeans, delia's, and I have to wear my "fall and bust your butt" boots because the legs are so long. I have some plaid and stripped low riders with belt loops that are wonderful, most of the time. God why my stripped low riders have to ride up? :razz: I'm forever adjusting my belt with those. I also have some suede ones, no belt loops, which I'm always hanging on to :rolleyes: My main problem with jeans is that either the legs are too long, or there's too much butt-material. My butt is NOT that big. I have a butt, just not a very big one. :nyah: I like fitted jeans, but my thighs are retarted. I have hips, a 'dent' and then thighs, there's no "connection".

I prayed to the Goddes hourly, performed an unknown number of rituals to be my "DREAM HEIGHT" of 5' 7". When I graduated High School the shortest in my class, almost the shortest in my school, I gave up.

Wouldn't ya know the Goddess and her sense of humour. In college I had classes in auditorium type class rooms that my feet didn't even touch the floor when sitting at the desks.

One day I silently prayed to the Goddess for just 2 inches so my feet could touch the floor. When I went back to school after Yule break my feet touched the floor. I've been 5'2" ever since and just keep a step ladder handy!:D

I'm 5'2" and while it has bothered me at times, I actually like being petite. Okay, there was the time when I used to tell everyone I was 5'3" but then I worked with the costume designer who made all us actors stand against the wall for her measurement chart, and told everyone loudly how much we lied by.
As I sew really well, I have no problem making pants legs shorter if I need to, although the way I'm proportioned, my legs are long enough it's less of a problem than it might be.

Funny, I was at a Hallowe'en party Saturday night, and there seemed to be a disproportionate number of girls shorter than me there - it was weird. Plus, I had on 3 inch heels, so I really towered above some of them. But even when I took them off I was in the tall category. And I was with my boyfriend who's just shy of 6'2" (and yes, I like that too).
I had a long conversation that night with a female friend who felt really awkward - she's over 6' and she hates dating guys shorter than her, but that eliminates half the dating pool. I don't know that I can really relate, though, as no guys are shorter than me.

I am now 5' 5.... I was 5' 4.5 for years until I had my second child... I'm actually supposed to be about 5'7. Funny story about that actually... when I was 8 I broke my right leg half through stomping my feet (temper tantrum, from a red head... imagine that!:ugh: ) Anyway, my parents didn't believe me until the gym teacher told my mom I couldn't run in gym class, so she hauled me off to the doc's. Imagine the look on her face when he told her, "Yes, her leg is broken, but it's healing so we can leave it, keep her off it for awhile.. or we can rebreak it clean and set it and put a cast on her." We decided to leave it because it was a greenstick fracture. However, where the break was the bone has never stopped growing, albeit slowly. I also turned my right pelvic bone when I took a bad fall on the ice when I was 19, which evened up my legs for quite a few years. But, the doctors say that if my pelvic bone was repositioned correctly and they put raises in my left shoe to compensate, I would be at least 5' 7..... As it is, no one notices the difference unless I make a point of showing them.... anyways.. that's my weird story from my life for the day!:nyah:

My hunch was right. There are 30.48 centimeters in a foot. 1 meter (= 100 centimeters) = 3.28 feet. Thus I would measure up 6'3".

Also new to me, there are 12 inches in one foot. We're used to decimal systems in the Netherlands. Imagine my surprise reading someone standing 5'10". In a decimal system that would equal 6'. In feet and inches, it clearly doesn't.

people usually stop growing in their mid to late teens, but it's quite possible to keep growing into the years after that period. depends on endless variables in environtment, diet, and of course, genetics.

My genes were against me from the get-go. Both of my grandmothers were 4'11" as was my Aunt on my father's side. My mother is the tallest out of 7 children and she's only 5'4".

I'm just 19, so I have at least 20 more years to enjoy my height... :) Makes me wonder where it comes from. Dad's 5'11", his two other kids (my sister and half-sister) are 5'5" and 5'3", and my mother is 5'4", about the same height as both her parents.

I guess I'm just a mutant... ;)

Yes-- wished I was 5'5" -- an nice average height for a woman. It's hard to find a dance partner. Have you ever tried to dance with a fellow 6'6"? -- I came up to his waist. Was not a good thing.

How tall eh; well Mr. Lincoln once wrote he was tall enough for his feet to reach the ground.
I generally use more accurate measurments though:5 ft 3in; 126cm
the scary part isn't the height though-its the weight 175lb-and yes there are big-boned people. I am one of those 'little guys' that the storm moves around.
The hardest part is having to lift some people when I'm working, I have to make sure both their ends don't drag the ground even when I'm standing.

Like my black zipper boots with a heel... :rant: I went to my grandparents' house to get my good heeled boots, $%$# jumping spider came at me and I couldn't get them, so now it's in the 60's and all I have are summer sandals, brown hiking boots for horseback riding, and white and silver sketcher sneakers. I was in k.c. mo. at union station and went in to the science room, They have a machine that you stand on it will take your height and weight, There were other machines to do the oxgyen in your body ect.

Well after looking at the poll results, I see 5ft. and under is on the shorter side of it. Hee Hee Nothing average about me. I guess I knew that all along.However I do have a friend that is 6'11 now what a threesome we make when we go out together, my husband is 6'5 me 5ft. and our friend 6'11 , You would not beleive the number of people who come up and ask him how tall are you. My husband gets that a lot also. He thinks this rude how about any one else? Do you think it is rude for someone to ask how tall or short you are? when you hold hands you have to lean down for him, after 3 minutes = it hurts. Guys don't think to bend their elbow so you don't fall over - WOMEN do.
When you kiss, you're leaning way down and over - HE should be doing that! He won't go to his tiptoes like you do when he's taller ... only WOMEN do that.
when you hug him - you have to bend you knees to fit "right" - don't hold it for very long wither, it hurts.
when you uh ... yeah that, it limits positions (doggy is OUT)
when you dance your arms are on HIS shoulders which is just unnatural
when you buy shoes he steals your runners unless you buy pink ones
YOU get asked all the time "Can you reach that" - and you BETTER be in ear shot to hear it too!
