certain things you do?

Are there any certain things you like to do to while your doing a reading? For instance I like to burn insence and a yellow candle.

I burn incense (or have those scented oil things in a lamp ring on - since my parents are really sensitive to incense smoke) and have 2 white candles and 1 red candles burning. :)

I also listen to my meditation CD while I read.

Way back when I had a Tarot room ( Alas! no more!:wah: ) I used to put something soothing on the CD player, light some incense, and always light at least one white candle burning, even if only to give me enough light to read the cards by. It was very nice to have a complete room set aside for this purpose with my altar and witchy stuff all together in one space.

However, that was a long time ago in the last century. :wah2:

I don't do anything everytime. It depends on the purpose, the spread, the deck, the person, etc. :)

When I have time and can do....I do the following.

I lay out my lay-cloth
Meditate and think of my "question"
Light a white candle on either side of my cloth
Focus on the question while dealing the cards
Read the cards

But....spontanaity is nothing to sneeze at either....sometimes my best readings are done on spur of the moment with no time to "prep" my space or mind. ;)
