^^ I'm gonna pull a Stormbeard on this one...

It's photoshopped. :cutie:

To be honest though it does look rather impressive and I'm not sure how somthing like that could be done SO it might actually be genuine! Who knows!

I think this is probably photoshopped, but I'm not an expert on digital image editing or anything. But I am open to the possibility something like this does exist, and I have read reports of giant snake sightings similar to these before.

Wow. That snake is friggin huge! That would be a snake you'd have to shoot in order to kill it. But then when it's dead, I bet that'd be good eatin':bigredgri

Are the reports from around the area where this picture was taken?

many many many claims of giant anaconda's termed "supersnake" have been made in the Amazon, a witness in the early 1900's (a missionary I believe) claims to have seen one while he was on a plane, if I remember it correctly, though I will admit I haven't heard too many claims in Borneo or Asia in general (at least not on the top of my head, though something be ringing faintly familiar)

Whoa! Imagine coming across that thing just randomly. What would you do? Actually, the question should be, what COULD you do? :jawdrop:

snakes can get pretty big, but that one does look photoshopped

I don't think it's photoshoped. However i do not think it's a 100 ft. snake. From the look of it i would say it's someone in a boat and theso called body is waves caused by the speed of the boat.

that's MHO

I still say it's a boat making a large wave in the water.

Ummm when you know the scale of the river and the tree of the bank (It's the Congo River in South Africa, not Baleh River in Sarawak) this supposed snake is a lot bigger than 30 meters long.

The other image was part of a photoshop contest revolving around cryto-animals.

Contest Rules
0
Cryptozoology (n) - The search and study of animals which are only rumored to exist. In this contest we're going to provide some proof to the these rumors. Every rumored animal we can think of (i.e. yeti, the Loch Ness monster, chupicabra, my themepost of a giant squid, etc...) is game.

The rules of this game are thus: You will create a serious hoax. It should not be amusing. Humor plays no role in this contest. If anything it will take away from your hoax. Your job is to create a cryptozoological hoax photo that looks so real, had it not appeared at Worth1000, people might have done a double take. Hoaxes can overlap (i.e. you can do an entry of Bigfoot, even if it's been done a dozen times). Originality is not key here. Quality is. As always, quality is a must. We will remove poor entries no matter how much we like you. You'll have 48 hours for this contest, so make your submission count.

Oh, for Pete's sake. Anyone who believed that was real needs to get their eyes checked, or something. The scale of the snake vs. the trees? Hullo? Snake the width of a schoolbus is more like it!

SNAKE!

I would highly recommend people to take a look at the "head" the tip of it looks too pointed. snakes do not have such a pointed tip. Also please look at the coloring just past the neck it's whitish with it fading towards the "tail" where it disappears altogether. Also I would highly recommend people to use your webbrowser and magnify it by at least 200% to 400% to see it even better.

Not just "probably", it's been proven to have been a phony picture. Check Snopes for the article about it.

Yeah...that wasn't even a good attempt at doctoring the image. Either someone out there i a terrible professional or some amateur just got a hell of a lot of exposure.

Obviously, this is a photoshop winner - but I did think they did a decent job - creating the wake behind the snake from movement. Actually the color "fading" from the head backwards would be accurate too - when a snake swims, they will keep their heads above water most of the time, and the weight of their body will naturally fall away from the surface of the water at a slight angle - making the "body" appear less distinct. My big albino burm (Marilyn) had a blast when she made it into the swimming pool one day. :)
